< 2 Petero 3 >

My friends, this is my second letter to you. In both of them I've tried to stir you up and remind you to think clearly with pure minds.
2 Nĩngwenda mũririkane ciugo iria ciaririo tene nĩ anabii arĩa atheru na watho ũrĩa waheanirwo nĩ Mwathani na Mũhonokia witũ na mũgĩkinyĩrio nĩ atũmwo anyu.
Remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets, and what the Lord and Savior commanded through your apostles.
3 Mbere ya maũndũ mothe, no nginya mũmenye atĩ matukũ ma kũrigĩrĩria nĩgũgooka anyũrũrania, manyũrũranagie na marũmagĩrĩre merirĩria mao mooru.
Above all you should know that derisive people will come in the last days, full of mockery and following their own evil desires.
4 Nĩmakooranagia atĩrĩ, “Gũũka gwake kũrĩa eeranĩire gũgaakinya-rĩ? Kuuma rĩrĩa maithe maitũ maakuire, maũndũ mothe mathiiaga na mbere o ta ũrĩa maatariĩ kuuma rĩrĩa thĩ yombirwo.”
“So what happened to this coming he promised?” they ask. “Right from the time our ancestors died, everything's continued as it always has, ever since creation began.”
5 No nĩmeriganĩirie o na makĩmenyaga atĩ o tene, nĩ ũndũ wa kiugo kĩa Ngai, kũũrĩa igũrũ nĩ kwagĩire, nayo thĩ ĩkĩũmbwo na maaĩ kuuma kũrĩ maaĩ.
But they deliberately ignore the fact that by God's command the heavens were created long ago. The earth came into existence from the water, and was surrounded by water.
6 Ningĩ maaĩ o macio no mo maarindanirie thĩ ya ihinda rĩu, na makĩmĩananga.
It was through water that the world that then existed was destroyed—through being flooded by water.
But by means of that same divine command the heavens and the earth that now exist are reserved for destruction by fire at the day of judgment when the wicked will be destroyed.
8 No rĩrĩ, arata akwa nyendete mũno, mũtikariganĩrwo nĩ ũndũ ũyũ ũmwe, atĩ kũrĩ Mwathani mũthenya ũmwe no ta mĩaka ngiri, na mĩaka ngiri no ta mũthenya ũmwe.
However, my friends, don't forget this one thing: that for the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day.
9 Mwathani ndagondagĩrĩra kũhingia ciĩranĩro ciake, ta ũrĩa andũ amwe meciiragia atĩ nĩagondagĩrĩra. We nĩamũkiragĩrĩria, tondũ ndendaga mũndũ o na ũmwe oore, no endaga andũ othe merire.
The Lord is not delaying the fulfillment of his promise, as some define delay, but he is being very patient with you. He doesn't want anyone to be lost, but everyone to come and repent.
10 No rĩrĩ, mũthenya wa Mwathani ũgooka o ta mũici. Mũthenya ũcio-rĩ, igũrũ nĩrĩkabuĩria na mũrurumo mũnene; nacio ciũmbe iria itũire kũu igũrũ nĩikaahĩa nĩ mwaki ithire, nayo thĩ na kĩrĩa gĩothe kĩrĩ kuo nĩigacinwo ithire biũ.
However, the day of the Lord will come, unexpectedly like a thief. The heavens will explode with a thunderous roar, and the elements will be destroyed as they are burned up. The earth and everything in it will vanish.
11 Kuona atĩ indo ciothe nĩikaanangwo na njĩra ĩyo-rĩ, inyuĩ mũkĩagĩrĩirwo gũkorwo mũrĩ andũ a mũthemba ũrĩkũ? Inyuĩ mwagĩrĩirwo nĩgũtũũraga mũtũũrĩre mũtheru na wa kwĩyamũrĩra Ngai,
Since everything is going to be destroyed in this way, what kind of people should you be? You should be living lives that are pure, dedicated to God,
12 mũgĩtanyaga na mũkĩĩriragĩria mũthenya ũcio ũkinye narua. Mũthenya ũcio wakinya-rĩ, igũrũ nĩrĩkaanangwo na mwaki, na indo ciothe iria irĩ kuo ihĩe nĩ mwaki, itweke.
waiting expectantly and being eager for the coming of the day of God. That day the heavens will catch fire and be destroyed, and the elements will melt in the heat.
13 No kũringana na ũrĩa eeranĩire-rĩ, nĩtwĩrĩgĩrĩire igũrũ rĩerũ na thĩ njerũ, o kuo kũrĩa gũtũũraga ũthingu.
But as for us, we are looking for new heavens and a new earth that God has promised where everything is good and right.
14 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, inyuĩ arata akwa nyendete mũno, kuona atĩ nĩmwĩrĩgĩrĩire ũndũ ũyũ-rĩ, kĩĩrutanĩriei mũkoragwo mũtarĩ na kĩmeni, na mũtarĩ na ũcuuke, na mũrĩ na thayũ nake.
So, my friends, since you're anticipating these things, make sure you'll be found pure and blameless, and at peace with God.
15 Menyai atĩ gũkirĩrĩria kwa Mwathani witũ nĩkuo gũtũmaga mũhonokio, o ta ũrĩa mũrũ wa Ithe witũ Paũlũ, ũrĩa twendete aamwandĩkĩire arĩ na ũũgĩ ũrĩa Ngai aamũhete.
Remember that it is our Lord's patience that gives the opportunity for salvation. That's what our dear brother Paul was explaining to you in all his letters with the wisdom given to him by God.
16 Marũa-inĩ make mothe aandĩkĩte o ũhoro wa maũndũ macio. Marũa-inĩ make nĩ kũrĩ maũndũ mamwe maritũ mũno kũmenya, marĩa andũ arĩa matooĩ na arĩa matakindagĩria mogomagia, o ta ũrĩa mogomagia Maandĩko marĩa mangĩ, nao makereherere mwanangĩko.
He spoke about these things, though some of what he wrote is certainly hard to understand. Some ignorant and unbalanced people have twisted what he wrote to their own loss—just as they do other scriptures.
17 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, arata akwa nyendete mũno, kuona nĩmũrĩkĩtie kũmenya maũndũ macio-rĩ, mwĩmenyererei nĩguo mũtikaheenererio mũgũe muume ũhoro-inĩ wanyu wa gwĩkindĩra wega nĩ kũhĩtithio nĩ mahĩtia ma andũ arĩa matamenyagĩrĩra watho.
My friends, since you already know this, make sure that these errors of the wicked don't lead you astray, and you don't fall from your firm position.
Ameni. (aiōn g165)
May you grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May he have glory, both now and forever! Amen. (aiōn g165)
