1 Hĩndĩ ya ũthamaki wa Jehoiakimu-rĩ, Nebukadinezaru mũthamaki wa Babuloni agĩtharĩkĩra bũrũri, na Jehoiakimu agĩtuĩka ndungata yake mĩaka ĩtatũ. No Jehoiakimu akĩgarũrũka, akĩremera Nebukadinezaru.
In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him.
2 Jehova agĩtũma mbũtũ cia gũtahana cia kuuma Babuloni, na Suriata, na Moabi, na Amoni ikahũũrane nake. Agĩcitũma ikaanange Juda, kũringana na ũrĩa kiugo kĩa Jehova gĩatariĩ, kĩrĩa kĩarĩtio nĩ ndungata ciake cia anabii.
The LORD sent against him bands of the Kasdim, bands of the Syrians, bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the LORD’s word which he spoke by his servants the prophets.

Surely at the commandment of the LORD this came on Judah, to remove them out of his sight for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did,

and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the LORD would not pardon.
5 Ha ũhoro wa maũndũ marĩa mangĩ makoniĩ wathani wa Jehoiakimu, na marĩa mothe eekire, githĩ matiandĩkĩtwo ibuku-inĩ rĩa mahinda ma athamaki a Juda?
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
6 Jehoiakimu akĩhurũka na maithe make. Nake mũriũ Jehoiakini agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake.
So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
7 Mũthamaki wa Misiri ndaigana kuuma bũrũri wake rĩngĩ, tondũ mũthamaki wa Babuloni nĩatunyanĩte bũrũri wothe ũrĩa warĩ wa mũthamaki wa Misiri kuuma Karũũĩ ka Misiri nginya Rũũĩ rwa Farati.
The king of Egypt didn’t come out of his land any more; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates, all that belonged to the king of Egypt.
8 Jehoiakini aarĩ wa mĩaka ikũmi na ĩnana rĩrĩa aatuĩkire mũthamaki, nake agĩthamaka Jerusalemu mĩeri ĩtatũ. Nyina eetagwo Nehushita mwarĩ wa Elinathani, kuuma Jerusalemu.
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother’s name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
9 Nake agĩĩka maũndũ mooru maitho-inĩ ma Jehova, o ta ũrĩa ithe eekĩte.
He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, according to all that his father had done.
10 Hĩndĩ ĩyo anene a Nebukadinezaru mũthamaki wa Babuloni magĩũka nginya Jerusalemu, makĩrigiicĩria itũũra rĩu,
At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
11 nake Nebukadinezaru we mwene agĩũka nginya itũũra-inĩ rĩu inene, hĩndĩ ĩyo anene ake maarĩrigiicĩirie.
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it,
12 Nake Jehoiakini mũthamaki wa Juda, na nyina, na ndungata ciake, na andũ arĩa maarĩ igweta, na anene ake othe makĩĩneana kũrĩ Nebukadinezaru. Mwaka-inĩ wa ĩnana wa wathani wa Babuloni nĩguo aanyiitire Jehoiakini.
and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon—he, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers; and the king of Babylon captured him in the eighth year of his reign.
13 Nebukadinezaru nĩarutire mĩthiithũ yothe kuuma hekarũ-inĩ ya Jehova na nyũmba-inĩ ya ũthamaki, agĩkuua indo ciothe cia thahabu iria Solomoni mũthamaki wa Isiraeli aathondekeire hekarũ ya Jehova, o ta ũrĩa Jehova oigĩte.
He carried out from there all the treasures of the LORD’s house and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the LORD’s temple, as the LORD had said.
14 Agĩkuua andũ othe a Jerusalemu akĩmatwara ithaamĩrio: anene othe, na arũi a mbaara, na mabundi mothe, o na aturi; othe maarĩ andũ 10,000. No andũ arĩa maarĩ athĩĩni mũno a bũrũri ũcio no-o maatigirwo.
He carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. No one remained except the poorest people of the land.
15 Nebukadinezaru agĩtwara Jehoiakini arĩ mũgwate nginya Babuloni. Ningĩ agĩcooka agĩkuua nyina wa mũthamaki kuuma Jerusalemu nginya Babuloni, na atumia ake, na anene ake, o na atongoria ake a bũrũri.
He carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, with the king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officers, and the chief men of the land. He carried them into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
16 Ningĩ mũthamaki wa Babuloni agĩthaamĩria mbũtũ yothe ya ita nginya Babuloni; ita rĩothe rĩa andũ 7,000 arĩa arũi, na me hinya na mangĩhota kũrũa, na mabundi na aturi 1,000.
All the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths one thousand, all of them strong and fit for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
17 Agĩcooka agĩtua Matania, mama-we wa Jehoiakini, mũthamaki ithenya rĩake, na akĩgarũra rĩĩtwa rĩake, akĩmũtua Zedekia.
The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s father’s brother, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
18 Zedekia aarĩ wa mĩaka mĩrongo ĩĩrĩ na ũmwe rĩrĩa aatuĩkire mũthamaki, nake agĩthamaka arĩ Jerusalemu mĩaka ikũmi na ũmwe. Nyina eetagwo Hamutali mwarĩ wa Jeremia, na oimĩte Libina.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
19 Nake agĩĩka maũndũ mooru maitho-inĩ ma Jehova, o ta ũrĩa Jehoiakimu eekĩte.
He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
20 Maũndũ macio mothe meekirwo Jerusalemu na Juda nĩ tondũ wa marakara ma Jehova, na mũthia-inĩ akĩmaingata mehere mbere yake. Nake Zedekia akĩremera mũthamaki wa Babuloni.
For through the anger of the LORD, this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
