1 Atĩrĩrĩ, ndũkanakũũme mũndũ mũkũrũ, kaba ũmũthaithage taarĩ thoguo, nao andũ arĩa ethĩ ta marĩ ariũ a thoguo,
An elder do not reprimand, but persuade him as a father, and those who are young as thy brethren,
2 Atumia arĩa akũrũ, ũmatuage ta marĩ aa maitũguo, nao arĩa anini matuage ta airĩtu a thoguo, na wĩkage ũguo na mĩthiĩre yothe ya ũthingu.
and the elderly women as mothers, and those who are young as thy sisters, with all purity.
3 Rũmbũyagia atumia arĩa a ndigwa kũna, na ũmatĩĩage.
The widows honour them who are widows in truth.
4 No mũtumia wa ndigwa angĩkorwo arĩ na ciana, kana ciana cia ciana ciake-rĩ, ciana icio nĩ ciambe ciĩrute kũrutithia wĩtĩkio wacio wĩra na ũndũ wa kũmenyagĩrĩra andũ arĩa marĩ a nyũmba ciao kĩũmbe; tondũ gwĩka ũguo nĩ gũcookeria aciari a cio na aciari a aciari a cio ngaatho nĩgũkorwo ũndũ ũcio nĩũkenagia Ngai.
And if there be a widow who hath children, or children's children, let them learn first to do justly for their families, and to repay the debts (owing) to their parents; for this is acceptable before Aloha.
5 Mũtumia wa ndigwa ũrĩa ũbataire kũna, na ũtigĩtwo arĩ wiki-rĩ, ũcio aigaga mwĩhoko wake harĩ Ngai, na akahooyaga ũtukũ na mũthenya, akĩũria Ngai ũteithio ategũtigithĩria.
But she who is truly a widow and solitary (is one) whose hope is in Aloha, and who persevereth in prayer and in supplication by night and by day.
6 No mũtumia wa ndigwa ũrĩa ũikaraga agĩĩkenagia, ũcio nĩ mũkuũ o na arĩ muoyo.
But she who serveth pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7 Rutaga andũ maũndũ macio o namo, nĩgeetha gũtikagĩe mũndũ ũgũikara arĩ na ũcuuke.
These things prescribe to them, that they be without blame.
8 Mũndũ wothe angĩaga gũteithia andũ ao, na makĩria arĩa marĩ a gwake mũciĩ-rĩ, mũndũ ũcio nĩakaanĩte wĩtĩkio na nĩ mũũru gũkĩra ũrĩa ũtetĩkĩtie.
For if a man hath not care of them who are his own, and especially of them who are children of the household of faith, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than those who believe not.
9 Gũtirĩ mũtumia wa ndigwa wagĩrĩire kwandĩkwo mũtaratara-inĩ wa atumia a ndigwa atakinyĩtie mĩaka mĩrongo ĩtandatũ, na akorwo aarĩ mwĩhokeku kũrĩ mũthuuri-we,
Elect, then, the widow who is not less than sixty years, who hath had one husband,
10 na akorwo nĩoĩkaine wega nĩ ũndũ wa gwĩkaga ciĩko njega, ta kũrera ciana, na gũtugaga ageni, na gũthambia nyarĩrĩ cia andũ arĩa aamũre, na gũteithagia andũ arĩa marĩ thĩĩna-inĩ, na kwĩrutagĩra we mwene gwĩkaga maũndũ marĩa mothe mega.
and who hath the testimony of good works: if she have brought up children, if she have received guests, if she have washed the feet of the saints, if she have cheered the afflicted, if she have walked in every gracious work.
11 Ha ũhoro wa atumia a ndigwa arĩa ethĩ-rĩ, ndũkamekĩre mũtaratara-inĩ ta ũcio, tondũ rĩrĩa makaguucĩrĩrio nĩ merirĩria mao ma mwĩrĩ, nĩmagatigana na Kristũ na macooke kwenda kũhika.
But from the widows who are young, withhold (the election); for these become schismatical against the Meshiha, and seek to marry,
12 Nĩ ũndũ wa ũguo magatuĩka a gũtuĩrwo ciira, tondũ nĩmathũkĩtie kĩĩranĩro kĩao kĩa mbere.
and their condemnation is confirmed, because they have rejected their first fidelity.
13 Ningĩ, nĩmemenyagĩria ũgũũta, magatuĩka a kũũrũũra kuuma nyũmba ĩmwe nginya ĩrĩa ĩngĩ. Na to ũgũũta wiki, o na nĩmatuĩkaga a kwaria ndeto cia mũhuhu na magetoonyereria maũndũ-inĩ ma andũ angĩ, makaaragia maũndũ marĩa mataagĩrĩirwo nĩ kwaria.
They also learn idleness, wandering from house to house; and not only idleness, but also to multiply words, and to follow vain (pursuits), and to speak things which they ought not.
14 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, niĩ ngũtaara atumia a ndigwa arĩa ethĩ mahike, na magĩe ciana, na marũgamagĩrĩre mĩciĩ yao, nĩguo matikae kũhe thũ iitũ mweke wa gũcambania.
I will therefore that those who are young should marry, and bear children, and conduct their households,
15 Ti-itherũ o na rĩu amwe ao nĩmarĩkĩtie kũgarũrũka na makarũmĩrĩra Shaitani.
and not give to the adversary any occasion to revile. For already have some begun to turn aside after Satana.
16 Mũndũ-wa-nja o wothe mwĩtĩkia angĩkorwo arĩ na atumia a ndigwa a nyũmba yake-rĩ, nĩamateithagie arĩ we na ndagakuuithie kanitha mũrigo wao, nĩgeetha kanitha ũhote gũteithia atumia arĩa a ndigwa kũna, arĩa mabataire.
If any believing man or believing woman have widows, let them support them, that they may not be burden-some on the church, that they who are widows indeed may have sufficient.
17 Athuuri a kanitha arĩa matongoragia maũndũ ma kanitha wega nĩmagĩrĩirwo nĩ kũheo gĩtĩĩo mũno, na makĩria arĩa marutaga wĩra wa kũhunjia na kũrutana.
Those presbyters who well conduct themselves shall be worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and in doctrine.
18 Nĩgũkorwo Maandĩko marĩa matheru moigĩte atĩrĩ, “Ndũkanohe ndegwa kanua rĩrĩa ĩkũranga ngano ĩkĩmĩhũũra,” na ningĩ nĩmoigĩte atĩrĩ, “Mũruti wĩra nĩagĩrĩirwo nĩkũheo mũcaara wake.”
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox in the treading out; and, Worthy is the labourer of his hire.
19 Ndũkanetĩkĩrie mũthuuri wa kanitha athitangwo, tiga hakorirwo na ũira wa andũ eerĩ kana atatũ.
Against a presbyter an accusation receive not, except on the mouth of two or three witnesses.
20 Andũ arĩa maikaraga makĩĩhagia-rĩ, makaanagie mbere ya andũ othe, nĩguo arĩa angĩ maikarage metigĩrĩte.
Those who sin before all men reprove, that the rest may be afraid.
21 Ndakwĩra atĩrĩ na ma ndĩ mbere ya Ngai, na Kristũ Jesũ o na araika arĩa athuure, ũmenyagĩrĩre morutani maya ũtegũthutũkania, na ndũkaneeke ũndũ o na ũmwe na kĩmenyano.
I attest thee before Aloha and our Lord Jeshu Meshiha and his elect angels, that thou keep these, (precepts, ) and let not thy mind be pre-occupied by any thing, and do nothing with acceptance of persons.
22 Ndũkahiũhage kũigĩrĩra mũndũ moko, na ndũkanagwatanĩre na mehia ma andũ arĩa angĩ. Ikaraga ũrĩ mũthingu.
The hand suddenly on any man lay not, neither participate in others' sins. Keep thyself in purity.
23 Tiga kũnyuuaga o maaĩ matheri, nyuuaga ndibei nini tondũ wa nda yaku, na nĩ ũndũ wa ũrĩa ũrũaraga kaingĩ.
And henceforth water drink not, but wine a little drink, on account of thy stomach, and on account of thy constant infirmities.
24 Mehia ma andũ amwe nĩmeyonanĩtie, makamatongoragia ciira-inĩ no mehia ma andũ angĩ mamoimaga thuutha.
THERE are men whose sins are known, and they precede them to the place of judgment; and there are whose (sins) go after them.
25 O ũndũ ũmwe, noguo ciĩko njega ciĩyonanagia, nacio iria itarĩ njega itingĩhithĩka.
So also good men are known; and those who are otherwise cannot be hid.
