< 1 Timotheo 5 >
1 Atĩrĩrĩ, ndũkanakũũme mũndũ mũkũrũ, kaba ũmũthaithage taarĩ thoguo, nao andũ arĩa ethĩ ta marĩ ariũ a thoguo,
Rebuke not an elder, but intreat [him] as a father; [and] the younger men as brethren;
2 Atumia arĩa akũrũ, ũmatuage ta marĩ aa maitũguo, nao arĩa anini matuage ta airĩtu a thoguo, na wĩkage ũguo na mĩthiĩre yothe ya ũthingu.
The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
3 Rũmbũyagia atumia arĩa a ndigwa kũna, na ũmatĩĩage.
Honour widows that are widows indeed.
4 No mũtumia wa ndigwa angĩkorwo arĩ na ciana, kana ciana cia ciana ciake-rĩ, ciana icio nĩ ciambe ciĩrute kũrutithia wĩtĩkio wacio wĩra na ũndũ wa kũmenyagĩrĩra andũ arĩa marĩ a nyũmba ciao kĩũmbe; tondũ gwĩka ũguo nĩ gũcookeria aciari a cio na aciari a aciari a cio ngaatho nĩgũkorwo ũndũ ũcio nĩũkenagia Ngai.
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 No mũtumia wa ndigwa ũrĩa ũikaraga agĩĩkenagia, ũcio nĩ mũkuũ o na arĩ muoyo.
But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7 Rutaga andũ maũndũ macio o namo, nĩgeetha gũtikagĩe mũndũ ũgũikara arĩ na ũcuuke.
And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 Mũndũ wothe angĩaga gũteithia andũ ao, na makĩria arĩa marĩ a gwake mũciĩ-rĩ, mũndũ ũcio nĩakaanĩte wĩtĩkio na nĩ mũũru gũkĩra ũrĩa ũtetĩkĩtie.
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
9 Gũtirĩ mũtumia wa ndigwa wagĩrĩire kwandĩkwo mũtaratara-inĩ wa atumia a ndigwa atakinyĩtie mĩaka mĩrongo ĩtandatũ, na akorwo aarĩ mwĩhokeku kũrĩ mũthuuri-we,
Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,
Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
11 Ha ũhoro wa atumia a ndigwa arĩa ethĩ-rĩ, ndũkamekĩre mũtaratara-inĩ ta ũcio, tondũ rĩrĩa makaguucĩrĩrio nĩ merirĩria mao ma mwĩrĩ, nĩmagatigana na Kristũ na macooke kwenda kũhika.
But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12 Nĩ ũndũ wa ũguo magatuĩka a gũtuĩrwo ciira, tondũ nĩmathũkĩtie kĩĩranĩro kĩao kĩa mbere.
Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
13 Ningĩ, nĩmemenyagĩria ũgũũta, magatuĩka a kũũrũũra kuuma nyũmba ĩmwe nginya ĩrĩa ĩngĩ.
And withal they learn [to be] idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
14 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, niĩ ngũtaara atumia a ndigwa arĩa ethĩ mahike, na magĩe ciana, na marũgamagĩrĩre mĩciĩ yao, nĩguo matikae kũhe thũ iitũ mweke wa gũcambania.
I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 Mũndũ-wa-nja o wothe mwĩtĩkia angĩkorwo arĩ na atumia a ndigwa a nyũmba yake-rĩ, nĩamateithagie arĩ we na ndagakuuithie kanitha mũrigo wao, nĩgeetha kanitha ũhote gũteithia atumia arĩa a ndigwa kũna, arĩa mabataire.
If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
17 Athuuri a kanitha arĩa matongoragia maũndũ ma kanitha wega nĩmagĩrĩirwo nĩ kũheo gĩtĩĩo mũno, na makĩria arĩa marutaga wĩra wa kũhunjia na kũrutana.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 Nĩgũkorwo Maandĩko marĩa matheru moigĩte atĩrĩ, “Ndũkanohe ndegwa kanua rĩrĩa ĩkũranga ngano ĩkĩmĩhũũra,” na ningĩ nĩmoigĩte atĩrĩ, “Mũruti wĩra nĩagĩrĩirwo nĩkũheo mũcaara wake.”
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.
Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
20 Andũ arĩa maikaraga makĩĩhagia-rĩ, makaanagie mbere ya andũ othe, nĩguo arĩa angĩ maikarage metigĩrĩte.
Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
I charge [thee] before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
24 Mehia ma andũ amwe nĩmeyonanĩtie, makamatongoragia ciira-inĩ no mehia ma andũ angĩ mamoimaga thuutha.
Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some [men] they follow after.
25 O ũndũ ũmwe, noguo ciĩko njega ciĩyonanagia, nacio iria itarĩ njega itingĩhithĩka.
Likewise also the good works [of some] are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise can not be hid.
