< 1 Samũeli 11 >
1 Na rĩrĩ, Nahashu ũrĩa Mũamoni nĩambatire agĩthiĩ akĩrigiicĩria Jabeshi-Gileadi. Nao andũ othe a Jabeshi makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Gĩa na kĩrĩĩko kĩa ũiguano, na ithuĩ nĩ tũrĩgũtungatagĩra.”
Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh–gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
2 Nowe Nahashu ũcio Mũamoni agĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Nĩtũkũgĩa na kĩrĩĩko kĩa ũiguano na inyuĩ mwetĩkĩra ũndũ ũyũ ũmwe: atĩ ngũũre riitho rĩa ũrĩo rĩa o mũndũ wothe nĩgeetha nyararithie andũ a Isiraeli othe.”
And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.
3 Athuuri acio a Jabeshi makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Tũhe mĩthenya mũgwanja nĩguo tũtũme andũ Isiraeli guothe, kũngĩaga mũndũ wa gũtũhonokia-rĩ, nĩtũkwĩneana kũrĩ we.”
And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days’ respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee.
4 Rĩrĩa andũ acio matũmĩtwo maakinyire Gibea gwa Saũlũ na makĩheana ũhoro ũcio kũrĩ andũ-rĩ, andũ othe makĩrĩra maanĩrĩire.
Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept.
5 Na rĩrĩ, Saũlũ nĩgũcooka aacookaga oimĩte mĩgũnda-inĩ, oimĩte ndegwa ciake thuutha, akĩũria atĩrĩ, “Kaĩ andũ aya moonete ũũru ũrĩkũ? Nĩ kĩĩ kĩratũma marĩre?” Nao magĩcookera ũhoro ũcio makĩmwĩra ũrĩa andũ a Jabeshi moigĩte.
And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
6 Rĩrĩa Saũlũ aiguire ũhoro ũcio, Roho wa Ngai agĩũka igũrũ rĩake na hinya mũno, nake agĩcinwo nĩ marakara.
And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.
7 Akĩnyiita ndegwa igĩrĩ, agĩcitinangia icunjĩ, na agĩtũma andũ Isiraeli guothe nacio, makĩanagĩrĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũũ nĩguo ndegwa cia mũndũ o wothe igwĩkwo ũrĩa ũtekũrũmĩrĩra Saũlũ na Samũeli.” Naguo guoya woimĩte harĩ Jehova ũkĩnyiita andũ acio, nao makiumagara ta maarĩ o mũndũ ũmwe.
And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of Yhwh fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
8 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Saũlũ aamatarire hamwe marĩ kũu Bezeki, andũ a Isiraeli maarĩ andũ ngiri magana matatũ na andũ a Juda ngiri mĩrongo ĩtatũ.
And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
9 Nao makĩĩra andũ acio maatũmĩtwo atĩrĩ, “Ĩrai andũ acio a Jabeshi-Gileadi atĩrĩ, ‘rũciũ ihinda rĩrĩa riũa rĩgaakorwo rĩhiũhĩte, nĩguo mũkaahonokio.’” Rĩrĩa andũ acio maatũmĩtwo mathiire makĩheana ũhoro ũcio kũrĩ andũ a Jabeshi-rĩ, andũ acio makĩiyũrwo nĩ gĩkeno kĩnene.
And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabesh–gilead, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
10 Nao makĩĩra andũ a Amoni atĩrĩ, “Rũciũ nĩtũkeneana kũrĩ inyuĩ, na inyuĩ no mũtwĩke ũrĩa wothe mũkoona kwagĩrĩire.”
Therefore the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.
11 Mũthenya ũyũ ũngĩ Saũlũ akĩgayania ita rĩake akĩiga andũ ikundi ithatũ; na hĩndĩ ya ituanĩra rĩa arangĩri rĩa gũgĩkĩa makĩhithũka kambĩ-inĩ ya Aamoni makĩmooraga nginya rĩrĩa riũa rĩakoretwo rĩhiũhĩte. Arĩa maatigarire makĩharaganio. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio gũtiarĩ andũ ao eerĩ maatigĩtwo me hamwe.
And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the army in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
12 Andũ acio magĩcooka makĩĩra Samũeli atĩrĩ, “Nĩ a acio mooragia atĩrĩ, ‘Saũlũ no atũthamakĩre?’ Tũrehere andũ acio tũmoorage.”
And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.
13 Nowe Saũlũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Gũtirĩ mũndũ o na ũũ ũkũũragwo ũmũthĩ, nĩ ũndũ mũthenya ũyũ Jehova nĩahonoketie Isiraeli.”
And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day Yhwh hath wrought salvation in Israel.
14 Hĩndĩ ĩyo Samũeli agĩcooka akĩĩra andũ acio atĩrĩ, “Ũkai, tũthiĩ Giligali na tũrĩ kũu tũkindĩre ũthamaki.”
Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.
15 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio andũ othe magĩthiĩ Giligali na magĩkindĩra atĩ Saũlũ nĩwe mũthamaki marĩ mbere ya Jehova. Nao marĩ kũu makĩruta maruta ma ũiguano marĩ mbere ya Jehova, nake Saũlũ na andũ othe a Isiraeli magĩkũngũĩra na njĩra nene.
And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Yhwh in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before Yhwh; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
