< 1 Petero 2 >

1 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, eheriai rũmena ruothe na maheeni mothe, na ũhinga, na ũiru, na gũcambania o guothe.
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 Na mũtuĩke ta tũkenge mwĩriragĩrie iria rĩrĩa rĩega rĩa kĩĩroho, nĩgeetha rĩmũkũragie ũhonokio-inĩ wanyu,
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 tondũ rĩu nĩmũcamĩte, mũkaigua atĩ Mwathani nĩ mwega.
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4 Ũkai kũrĩ we, o ũcio Ihiga rĩrĩ muoyo, o rĩu rĩaregirwo nĩ andũ, no Ngai akĩrĩthuura, na nĩ rĩa goro harĩ we,
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 o na inyuĩ, ta mahiga marĩ muoyo-rĩ, nĩ gwakwo mũraakwo mũtuĩke nyũmba ya kĩĩroho, na mũtuĩke gĩkundi gĩtheru kĩa athĩnjĩri-Ngai gĩa kũrutaga magongona ma kĩĩroho marĩa mangĩtĩkĩrĩka nĩ Ngai nĩ ũndũ wa Jesũ Kristũ.
Ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Nĩgũkorwo Maandĩko moigĩte atĩrĩ: “Nĩnjigĩte ihiga Zayuni, ihiga ithuure rĩa koine na rĩa goro, na mũndũ ũrĩa ũmwĩhokete ndagaaconorithio.”
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Na rĩu kũrĩ inyuĩ arĩa mwĩtĩkĩtie, ihiga rĩĩrĩ nĩ rĩa goro. No kũrĩ arĩa matetĩkĩtie, “Ihiga rĩrĩa aaki maaregire nĩrĩo rĩtuĩkĩte ihiga inene rĩa koine,”
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 No inyuĩ-rĩ, mũrĩ rũruka rũthuurĩtwo, na thiritũ ya athĩnjĩri-Ngai ya nyũmba ya ũthamaki, ningĩ mũrĩ rũrĩrĩ rwamũre, o na andũ a Ngai kĩũmbe, nĩguo mwanagĩrĩre ũgooci wa ũcio wamwĩtire muume nduma-inĩ mũtoonye ũtheri-inĩ wake wa magegania.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10 Kũrĩ hĩndĩ mwarĩ andũ mataarĩ kĩene, no rĩu mũrĩ andũ a Ngai; kũrĩ hĩndĩ mwaagĩte kũiguĩrwo tha, no rĩu nĩmũiguĩrĩirwo tha.
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Tũũragai na mĩtũũrĩre mĩega mũrĩ gatagatĩ ka andũ arĩa matooĩ Ngai, nĩgeetha o na mangĩmũigĩrĩra atĩ nĩmwĩkĩte ũũru, meonagĩre ciĩko cianyu njega na magakumia Ngai mũthenya ũrĩa agooka.
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 Nĩ ũndũ wa Mwathani-rĩ, athĩkagĩrai wathani o wothe ũrĩa ũheanĩtwo thĩinĩ wa andũ: o na wakorwo nĩ wa mũthamaki, arĩ we mũnene igũrũ rĩa anene arĩa angĩ othe,
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
15 Nĩgũkorwo ũrĩa Ngai endaga nĩ atĩ mwĩkage wega nĩguo mũkiragie mĩario ya ũrimũ ya andũ arĩa matarĩ ũndũ mooĩ.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
16 Tũũrai ta andũ matarĩ ngombo, no mũtikanareke wĩyathi wanyu ũtuĩke wa kũhithĩrĩra waganu; tũũragai mũrĩ ndungata cia Ngai.
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
18 Inyuĩ ngombo-rĩ, athĩkagĩrai anene anyu na mũmatĩĩage mũno, na to arĩa ega na maiguanagĩra tha, no nĩ o na arĩa mataiguanagĩra tha.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
19 Nĩgũkorwo nĩ ũndũ mwega mũndũ angĩkirĩrĩria ruo o na akĩnyariiragwo hatarĩ kĩhooto tondũ wa kũmenya ũrĩa Ngai endaga.
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20 No ũngĩhũũrwo nĩ ũndũ wa gwĩka ũũru o na ũkirĩrĩrie-rĩ, ũngĩkĩgaathĩrwo kĩ? No ũngĩnyariirwo nĩ ũndũ wa gwĩka wega na ũkirĩrĩrie-rĩ, ũcio nĩ ũndũ mwega maitho-inĩ ma Ngai.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 Ũndũ ũyũ nĩguo mwetĩirwo, tondũ Kristũ aanyariirirwo nĩ ũndũ wanyu, akĩmũtigĩra kĩonereria nĩguo mũgeragĩre o makinya-inĩ make.
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 “We ndaigana kwĩhia, o na kanua gake gatiigana kwaria maheeni.”
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa andũ maamũrumaga, we ndaigana kwĩrumĩra; rĩrĩa aanyariiragwo, we ndaigana kũmehĩtĩra. Handũ ha ũguo-rĩ, we nĩ kweneana eneanaga kũrĩ ũrĩa ũtuaga ciira na kĩhooto.
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 We mwene nĩakuuire mehia maitũ na mwĩrĩ wake mũtĩ-igũrũ, nĩgeetha na ithuĩ tũkue ũhoro-inĩ wa mehia, na tũtũũre muoyo nĩ ũndũ wa ũthingu; mĩtũnda ĩrĩa aahũũrirwo nĩyo ĩtũmĩte mũhone.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
25 Nĩgũkorwo mwatariĩ ta ngʼondu itururĩte, no rĩu nĩmũcookereire Mũrĩithi na Mũrori wa mĩoyo yanyu.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
