< 1 Johana 1 >
1 Ũhoro ũrĩa warĩ kuo kuuma o kĩambĩrĩria, ũrĩa tũiguĩte, na ũrĩa tuonete na maitho maitũ, na tũkawĩrorera, namo moko maitũ makaũhutia, o ũhoro ũcio wa Kiugo kĩa muoyo, nĩguo tũhunjagia.
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have contemplated, and our very hands have felt concerning the Word of life,
(for this Life was manifested, and we saw it; and we testify and declare unto you that eternal Life, which was with the Father, (aiōnios )
3 Ithuĩ tũmũhunjagĩria kĩrĩa tuonete na tũkaigua, nĩgeetha o na inyuĩ mũgĩe ngwatanĩro na ithuĩ. Nayo ngwatanĩro iitũ nĩ ngwatanĩro na Ithe witũ, o na Mũriũ Jesũ Kristũ.
and was manifested unto us) what we have seen and heard we declare unto you, that ye also may have communion with us: and our communion is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 Tũramwandĩkĩra maũndũ maya nĩguo gĩkeno giitũ kĩiganĩre.
And these things we write unto you, that your joy may be complete.
5 Ĩno nĩyo ndũmĩrĩri ĩrĩa tũiguĩte kuuma kũrĩ we, na nĩyo tũramũmenyithia, atĩ: Ngai nĩ ũtheri; thĩinĩ wake gũtirĩ nduma o na hanini.
Now this we have heard from Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have communion with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practise the truth:
7 No tũngĩthiĩ na ũtheri, o ta ũrĩa we arĩ ũtheri-inĩ, tũrĩ na ngwatanĩro mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ, nayo thakame ya Jesũ, Mũrũ wake, nĩĩtũtheragia, tũgathirwo nĩ mehia mothe.
but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have communion with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 Tũngiuga tũtirĩ na mehia, nĩ kwĩheenia tũkwĩheenia, naguo ũhoro wa ma ndũrĩ thĩinĩ witũ.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness:
10 Tũngiuga tũtiĩhĩtie-rĩ, tũkũmũtua wa maheeni, naguo ũhoro wake ndũrĩ na handũ thĩinĩ witũ.
but if we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
