< 1 Akorinitho 11 >
1 Mwĩgerekaniei na niĩ, ta ũrĩa ndĩgerekanagia na Kristũ.
Be all of you followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Now I praise you, brethren, that all of you remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
4 Mũndũ mũrũme o wothe ũrĩa ũhooyaga kana akaratha ehumbĩrĩte mũtwe-rĩ, nĩ mũtwe wake aconorithagia.
Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonours his head.
5 Nake mũndũ-wa-nja o wothe ũrĩa ũhooyaga kana akaratha atahumbĩrĩte mũtwe wake-rĩ, nĩ mũtwe wake aconorithagia, tondũ ũguo no ũndũ ũmwe na kwenjwo.
But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonours her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6 Angĩkorwo mũndũ-wa-nja ndekũhumbĩra mũtwe wake-rĩ, nĩakĩenje njuĩrĩ yake; na angĩkorwo kũrengarenga njuĩrĩ kana kwenjwo nĩ ũndũ wa gũconora mũndũ-wa-nja-rĩ, nĩakĩĩhumbĩre mũtwe.
For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 Nĩgũkorwo mũndũ mũrũme ndoimire harĩ mũndũ-wa-nja, no nĩ mũndũ-wa-nja woimire harĩ mũndũ mũrũme.
For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
9 Mũndũ mũrũme-rĩ, tiwe wombirwo nĩ ũndũ wa mũndũ-wa-nja, no nĩ mũndũ-wa-nja wombirwo nĩ ũndũ wa mũndũ mũrũme.
Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11 No ningĩ-rĩ, thĩinĩ wa Mwathani, mũndũ-wa-nja ndeiganĩtie mũndũ mũrũme atarĩ ho, nake mũndũ-mũrũme ndeiganĩtie mũndũ-wa-nja atarĩ ho.
Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 O ta ũrĩa mũndũ-wa-nja oimire harĩ mũndũ mũrũme-rĩ, no taguo mũndũ-mũrũme aciaragwo nĩ mũndũ-wa-nja. No rĩrĩ, indo ciothe ciumaga kũrĩ Ngai.
For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
13 Ta tuai arĩ inyuĩ: Nĩ kwagĩrĩire mũndũ-wa-nja kũhooya Ngai atehumbĩrĩte mũtwe?
Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
14 Kaĩ maũndũ ma ndũire matamũrutaga atĩ mũndũ-mũrũme gũkorwo arĩ na njuĩrĩ ndaaya nĩ ũndũ wa kũmũconorithia,
Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 no mũndũ-wa-nja gũkorwo na njuĩrĩ ndaaya, ũcio nĩ riiri wake? Nĩgũkorwo aheetwo njuĩrĩ ndaaya arĩ kĩndũ gĩa kũmũhumbĩra.
But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
17 Ũhoro-inĩ ũrĩa ngũmũtaarĩria rĩu-rĩ, ndirĩ na ũndũ wa kũmũgaathĩra, nĩgũkorwo kũngana kwanyu ti gwa kũmũguna no nĩ gwa kũmũthũkia.
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that all of you come together not for the better, but for the worse.
18 Ũndũ wa mbere, njiguaga atĩ rĩrĩa muongana ta kanitha, nĩkũgĩaga na nyamũkano gatagatĩ kanyu, na ũhoro ũcio ndingĩaga gwĩtĩkia ũmwe waguo.
For first of all, when all of you come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19 Hatarĩ nganja gũtingĩaga kũgĩa na ngarari gatagatĩ-inĩ kanyu cia kuonania arĩa anyu metĩkĩrĩkĩte nĩ Ngai.
For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
20 Rĩrĩa muongana hamwe, ti Irio cia Mwathani mũrĩĩaga,
When all of you come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
21 nĩgũkorwo rĩrĩa mũkũrĩa, o mũndũ athiiaga na mbere kũrĩa ategweterera ũrĩa ũngĩ. Ũmwe aikaraga ahũtiĩ, nake ũrĩa ũngĩ agaikara arĩĩtwo.
For in eating every one takes before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
No ndĩkĩmũgaathĩrĩrie nĩ ũndũ wa ũhoro ũcio? Aca, ndingĩmũgaathĩrĩria!
What? have all of you not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise all of you the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
23 Nĩgũkorwo ũhoro ũrĩa ndaamũkĩrire kuuma kũrĩ Mwathani noguo ndaamũkinyĩirie: Mwathani Jesũ, ũtukũ ũrĩa aakunyanĩirwo, nĩooire mũgate,
For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 na aarĩkia gũcookia ngaatho, akĩwenyũranga, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Ũyũ nĩ mwĩrĩ wakwa, ũrĩa ũheanĩtwo nĩ ũndũ wanyu; ĩkagai ũũ nĩguo mũndirikanage.”
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 Ningĩ o ũndũ ũmwe, thuutha wa kũrĩa irio, akĩoya gĩkombe, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Gĩkombe gĩkĩ nĩ kĩrĩkanĩro kĩrĩa kĩerũ thĩinĩ wa thakame yakwa; ĩkagai ũũ, rĩrĩa rĩothe mũrĩkĩnyuuagĩra, nĩguo mũndirikanage.”
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do all of you, as often as all of you drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 Nĩgũkorwo rĩrĩa rĩothe mũkũrĩa mũgate ũyũ na mũkanyuĩra gĩkombe gĩkĩ-rĩ, nĩkuumbũra mũkuumbũra gũkua kwa Mwathani o nginya hĩndĩ ĩrĩa agooka.
For as often as all of you eat this bread, and drink this cup, all of you do show the Lord's death till he comes.
27 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, mũndũ o wothe ũkũrĩa mũgate ũcio kana akanyuĩra gĩkombe kĩu kĩa Mwathani ũrĩa gũtaagĩrĩire-rĩ, nĩ kwĩhia ehĩirie mwĩrĩ na thakame ya Mwathani.
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 Nĩgũkorwo mũndũ ũrĩa wothe ũrĩĩaga na akanyua ategũkũũrana mwĩrĩ wa Mwathani, nĩ ituĩro rĩake we mwene etuagĩra.
For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 Kĩu nĩkĩo gĩtũmĩte aingĩ anyu moorwo nĩ hinya, na marũare, na amwe anyu nĩmarĩkĩtie gũkua.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 No tũngĩĩtuĩra ciira ithuĩ ene, tũtingĩtuĩka a gũciirithio.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa tũgũtuĩrwo ciira nĩ Mwathani-rĩ, nĩkũherithio tũherithagio nĩgeetha tũtikae gũtuĩrwo ciira hamwe na thĩ.
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
33 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, rĩrĩa mũnganĩte mũrĩĩanĩre-rĩ, etanagĩrĩrai.
Wherefore, my brethren, when all of you come together to eat, tarry one for another.
34 Angĩkorwo mũndũ nĩahũũtiĩ-rĩ, agĩrĩirwo nĩ kũrĩa irio gwake mũciĩ, nĩgeetha rĩrĩa muongana gũtikagĩe ũhoro wa gũtuĩrwo ciira. Nĩngaheana ũhoro wa maũndũ macio mangĩ rĩrĩa ngooka.
And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that all of you come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
