1 Aya nĩo maarĩ ariũ a Isiraeli: Rubeni, na Simeoni, na Lawi, na Juda, na Isakaru, na Zebuluni,

These, are the sons of Israel, —Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun;

2 na Dani, na Jusufu, na Benjamini, na Nafitali, na Gadi, na Asheri.

Dan, Joseph, and Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher,

3 Ariũ a Juda maarĩ: Eri, na Onani, na Shela. Acio atatũ maaciarĩirwo Juda nĩ mũtumia Mũkaanani, mwarĩ wa Shua. Eri, irigithathi rĩa Juda, aarĩ mwaganu maitho-inĩ ma Jehova; nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jehova akĩmũũraga.

the sons of Judah, Er, and Onan, and Shelah, the three born to him of the daughter of Shua the Canaanitess, —but Er the firstborn of Judah became wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, and he slew him.

4 Tamaru, mũtumia wa mũrũ wa Juda, akĩmũciarĩra Perezu na Zera. Ariũ othe a Juda maarĩ atano.

And, Tamar his daughter-in-law, bare him, Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah, were five.

5 Ariũ a Perezu maarĩ: Hezironi na Hamula.

The sons of Perez, Hezron and Hamul.

6 Ariũ a Zera maarĩ: Zimuri, na Ethani, na Hemani, na Kalikoli, na Darida; othe maarĩ atano.

And, the sons of Zerah, Zimri and Ethan, and Heman and Calcol and Dara, all of them, five.

And, the sons of Carmi, Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in a thing devoted.

8 Mũriũ wa Ethani aarĩ: Azaria.

And, the sons of Ethan, Azariah.

9 Ariũ arĩa maaciarĩrĩirwo Hezironi maarĩ: Jerameeli, na Ramu, na Kalebu.

And, the sons of Hezron, who were born to him, Jerahmeel, and Ram, and Calubai.

10 Ramu nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Aminadabu, nake Aminadabu aarĩ ithe wa Nahashoni, ũrĩa warĩ mũtongoria wa andũ a Juda.

And, Ram, begat Amminadab, —and, Amminadab, begat Nahshon, leader of the sons of Judah.

11 Nahashoni nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Salimoni, nake Salimoni aarĩ ithe wa Boazu,

And, Nahshon, begat Salma, and, Salma, begat Boaz;

12 nake Boazu nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Obedi, ũria warĩ ithe wa Jesii.

and, Boaz, begat Obed, and, Obed, begat Jesse;

13 Jesii nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Eliabu, irigithathi rĩake; nake Abinadabu aarĩ wa keerĩ, na Shimea wa gatatũ,

and, Jesse, begat—his firstborn, Eliab, —and Abinadab, the second, and Shimea, the third;

14 na Nethaneli wa kana, nake Radai wa gatano,

Nethanel, the fourth, Raddai, the fifth;

15 na Ozemu wa gatandatũ, nake Daudi aarĩ wa mũgwanja.

Ozem, the sixth, David, the seventh.

16 Nao aarĩ a nyina maarĩ Zeruia na Abigaili. Ariũ a Zeruia maarĩ atatũ, na nĩo Abishai, na Joabu, na Asaheli.

And, their sisters, were Zeruiah and Abigail, —and, the sons of Zeruiah, Abishai and Joab and Asahel, three,

17 Abigaili nĩwe warĩ nyina wa Amasa, na ithe wa Amasa aarĩ Jetheri ũrĩa Mũishumaeli.

And, Abigail, bare Amasa, —and, the father of Amasa, was Jether the Ishmaelite.

18 Kalebu mũrũ wa Hezironi nĩagĩire ciana na mũtumia wake Azuba (o na ningĩ na Jeriothu). Ariũ a mũtumia ũcio maarĩ: Jesheri, na Shobabu, na Aridoni.

And, Caleb son of Hezron, begat children of Azubah his wife, and of Jerioth, —and, these, were her sons, Jesher and Shobab and Ardon.

19 Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Azuba aakuire, Kalebu akĩhikia Efiratha, ũrĩa wamũciarĩire Huru.

And Azubah died, —and Caleb took unto him Ephrath, and she bare to him Hur.

20 Huru nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Uri, nake Uri nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Bezaleli.

And, Hur, begat Uri, and, Uri, begat Bezalel.

21 Thuutha ũcio, Hezironi agĩkoma na mwarĩ wa Makiru ũrĩa warĩ ithe wa Gileadi (Hezironi aarĩ wa mĩaka mĩrongo ĩtandatũ akĩmũhikia), nake akĩmũciarĩra Segubu.

And, afterward, Hezron went in unto the daughter of Machir, father of Gilead, and he took her when he was sixty years old, —and she bare him Segub.

22 Segubu nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Jairu, ũrĩa warĩ na matũũra mĩrongo ĩĩrĩ na matatũ kũu Gileadi.

And, Segub, begat Jair, —who came to have twenty-three cities, in the land of Gilead;

23 (No rĩrĩ, Geshuru na Aramu magĩtunyana matũũra ma Havothu-Jairu, o hamwe na Kenathu na ciikaro iria ciarĩthiũrũrũkĩirie, namo maarĩ matũũra mĩrongo ĩtandatũ.) Aya othe nĩo maarĩ njiaro cia Makiru, o we ithe wa Gileadi.

but Geshur and Aram took the towns of Jair from them, with Kenath and the villages thereof, sixty cities. All these, were the sons of Machir, father of Gilead.

25 Ariũ a Jerameeli, ũrĩa warĩ irigithathi rĩa Hezironi, maarĩ: Ramu ũrĩa warĩ irigithathi rĩake, na Buna, na Oreni, na Ozemu, na Ahija.

And the sons of Jerahmeel firstborn of Hezron were, the firstborn, Ram, —and Bunah, and Oren, and Ozem [of] Ahijah.

26 Jerameeli aarĩ na mũtumia ũngĩ wetagwo Atara, nake nĩwe warĩ nyina wa Onamu.

And Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name, was Atarah, —the same, was the mother of Onam.

27 Ariũ a Ramu, ũrĩa warĩ irigithathi rĩa Jerameeli, maarĩ: Maazu, na Jamini, na Ekeri.

And the sons of Ram, the firstborn of Jerameel, were, —Maaz and Jamin, and Eker.

28 Ariũ a Onamu maarĩ: Shamai na Jada. Nao ariũ a Shamai maarĩ: Nadabu na Abishuri.

And the sons of Onam were, Shammai and Jada, —and, the sons of Shammai, Nadab and Abishur.

29 Mũtumia wa Abishuri eetagwo Abihaili, ũrĩa wamũciarĩire Ahabani na Molidi.

And, the name of the wife of Abishur, was Abihail, —and she bare him Ahban, and Molid.

30 Ariũ a Nadabu maarĩ: Seledi na Apaimu. No rĩrĩ, Seledi aakuire atarĩ na ciana.

And, the sons of Nadab, Seled and Appaim, —but Seled died without sons.

31 Mũrũ wa Apaimu aarĩ: Ishi, ũrĩa warĩ ithe wa Sheshani. Nake Sheshani nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Ahalai.

And, the sons of Appaim, Ishi, and, the sons of Ishi, Sheshan, and, the sons of Sheshan, Ahlai.

32 Ariũ a Jada, mũrũ wa nyina na Shamai, maarĩ: Jetheri na Jonathani. Jetheri aakuire atarĩ na ciana.

And, the sons of Jada, brother of Shammai, Jether, and Jonathan, —but Jether died without sons.

33 Ariũ a Jonathani maarĩ: Pelethu na Zaza. Acio nĩo maarĩ njiaro cia Jerameeli.

And the sons of Jonathan, Peleth and Zaza. These, were the sons of Jerahmeel.

34 Sheshani ndaarĩ na aanake, no airĩtu. Aarĩ na ndungata ya kuuma Misiri yetagwo Jariha.

Now Sheshan had, no sons, but, daughters, —and, Sheshan, had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Jarha;

35 Sheshani akĩhe Jariha ndungata ĩyo yake mwarĩ ĩmũhikie, nake akĩgĩa mwana wetagwo Atai.

so Sheshan gave his daughter to Jarha his servant, to wife, —and she bare him Attai.

36 Atai nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Nathani, nake Nathani nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Zabadi,

And, Attai, begat Nathan, and, Nathan, begat Zabad;

37 nake Zabadi nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Efilali, nake Efilali nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Obedi,

and, Zabad, begat Ephlal, and, Ephlal, begat Obed;

38 nake Obedi nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Jehu, nake Jehu nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Azaria,

and, Obed, begat Jehu, and, Jehu, begat Azariah;

39 nake Azaria nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Helezu, nake Helezu nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Eleasa,

and, Azariah, begat Helez, and, Helez, begat Eleasah;

40 nake Eleasa nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Sisimai, nake Sisimai nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Shalumu,

and, Eleasah, begat Sismai, and, Sismai, begat Shallum;

41 nake Shalumu nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Jekamia, nake Jekamia nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Elishama.

and, Shallum, begat Jekamiah, and, Jekamiah, begat Elishama.

42 Ariũ a Kalebu, ũrĩa warĩ mũrũ wa nyina na Jerameeli, maarĩ: Mesha irigithathi rĩake, na nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Zifu, na mũriũ Maresha ũrĩa warĩ ithe wa Hebironi.

Now, the sons of Caleb, brother of Jerahmeel, were, Mesha his firstborn, the same, was the father of Ziph, —and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron.

43 Ariũ a Hebironi maarĩ: Kora, na Tapua, na Rekemu, na Shema.

And, the sons of Hebron, Korah and Tappuah, and Rekem and Shema.

44 Shema nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Rahamu, na Rahamu nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Jorikeamu. Rekemu aarĩ ithe wa Shamai.

And, Shema, begat Raham, the father of Jorkeam, —and, Rekem, begat Shammai.

45 Mũrũ wa Shamai aarĩ Maoni, nake nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Bethi-Zuru.

And, the son of Shammai, was Maon, —and, Maon, was the father of Beth-zur.

46 Nake Efa, thuriya ya Kalebu, nĩwe warĩ nyina wa Harani, na Moza, na Gazezi. Nake Harani nĩwe warĩ ithe wa Gazezi.

And, Ephah, the concubine of Caleb, bare Haran and Moza, and Gazez, —and, Haran, begat Gazez.

47 Ariũ a Jahadai maarĩ: Regemu, na Jothamu, na Geshani, na Peleti, na Efa, na Shaafu.

And, the sons of Jahdai, Regem and Jotham and Geshan and Pelet, and Ephah and Shaaph.

48 Nake Maaka, thuriya ya Kalebu, nĩwe warĩ nyina wa Sheberi na Tirihana.

A concubine of Caleb, Maacah, bare Sheber, and Tirhanah;

49 Ningĩ nowe waciarire Shaafu ũrĩa warĩ ithe wa Madimana, na Sheva ithe wa Makibena na Gibea. Mwarĩ wa Kalebu eetagwo Akisa.

she also bare Shaaph, father of Madmannah, Sheva, father of Machbena, and father of Gibea, —and, the daughter of Caleb, was Achsah.

50 Acio nĩo maarĩ njiaro cia Kalebu. Ariũ a Huru, irigithathi rĩa Efiratha, maarĩ: Shobali ithe wa Kiriathu-Jearimu,

These, were the sons of Caleb, sons of Hur, firstborn of Ephrathah, —Shobal, the father of Kiriath-jearim;

51 na Salima ithe wa Bethilehemu, na Harefu ithe wa Bethi-Gaderi.

Salma, the father of Bethlehem, Hareph, the father of Beth-gader.

52 Njiaro cia Shobali, ithe wa Kiriathu-Jearimu, ciarĩ: Haroe, na nuthu ya Amanahathi,

And Shobal, the father of Kiriath-jearim had sons, —Haroeh, half of the Menuhoth.

53 na mĩhĩrĩga ya Kiriathu-Jearimu ĩrĩa yatariĩ ta ũũ: Aithiri, na Aputhi, na Ashumathi, na Amishirai. Kuuma kũrĩ acio gũkĩgĩa njiaro cia Azorathi na Aeshitaoli.

And, the families of Kiriath-jearim, were the Ithrites, and the Puthites, and the Shumathites, and the Mishraites, —from these, came the Zorathites, and the Eshtaolites.

54 Njiaro cia Salima ciarĩ: Bethilehemu ũrĩa Mũnetofathi, na Aatirothu-Bethi-Joabu, na nuthu ya Amanahathi, na Azori,

The sons of Salma, were Bethlehem, and the Netophathites, Atrothbeth-joab, —and half of the Manahathites, the Zorites;

55 na mĩhĩrĩga ya aandĩki-marũa arĩa maatũũraga Jabezu ĩrĩa yatariĩ ta ũũ: Atirathi, na Ashimeathi, na Asukathi. Aya nĩo Akeni arĩa moimĩte harĩ Hamathu, ithe wa nyũmba ya Rekabu.

and the families of scribes who dwelt at Jabez, the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, the Sucathites. The same, are the Kenites who came in from Hammath, father of the house of Rechab.
