1 Wehe dir, du widerspenstige, du befleckte, du bedrückende Stadt!
Woe to her that is rebellious and polluted, The oppressing city!
2 Sie hört nicht auf die Stimme, nimmt keine Zucht an, traut nicht auf Jehovah, naht nicht zu ihrem Gott.
She listeneth to no voice, She receiveth not admonition; She trusteth not in Jehovah, She draweth not near to her God.
3 Brüllende Löwen sind ihre Obersten in ihrer Mitte, ihre Richter Abendwölfe, die nichts bis zum Morgen überlassen.
Her princes within her are roaring lions; Her judges are evening wolves; They reserve nothing for the morning.
4 Ihre Propheten sind leichtfertig, Männer der Treulosigkeit; ihre Priester entweihen das Heilige, tun Gewalt an dem Gesetz.
Her prophets are vainglorious, Men of treachery; Her priests pollute the sanctuary, They violate the law.
5 Jehovah ist gerecht in ihrer Mitte, tut nichts Verkehrtes; am Morgen, am Morgen gibt Er Sein Gericht ans Licht. Er läßt es nicht fehlen; aber der Verkehrte kennt keine Scham.
But Jehovah is just in the midst of her; He doeth no iniquity. Every morning bringeth he his righteousness to light; he faileth not; Yet the wicked knoweth not shame.
6 Ich rotte Völkerschaften aus, verwüstet sind ihre Ecken, Ich veröde ihre Gassen, so daß niemand vorübergeht, abgeödet sind ihre Städte, daß kein Mann da ist, daß keiner darin wohnt.
I have cut off nations; their towers are destroyed; I have laid waste their streets so that none passeth through; Their cities are made desolate, without a man, without an inhabitant.
7 Ich sprach: Fürchte Mich nur, nimm Zucht an, und ihre Wohnstätte soll nicht ausgerottet werden, nach allem, das Ich über sie bestellt habe; doch früh aufstehend, verdarben sie ihr Tun.
Then I said, “Surely thou wilt fear me; thou wilt receive admonition, That thy habitation may not be cut off, As I have commanded concerning thee.” But they were diligent to commit iniquity In all their doings.
8 Darum harrt auf Mich, spricht Jehovah, bis zu dem Tage, da Ich Mich aufmache zum Raub; denn Mein Gericht ist, daß Ich die Völkerschaften sammle, daß Ich die Königreiche zusammenbringe, auf daß Ich über sie ausschütte Meinen Unwillen, all Meines Zornes Entbrennung, daß in dem Feuer Meines Eiferns alles Land aufgefressen werde.
Therefore wait for me, saith Jehovah. Until the day when I rise up to the prey. For my purpose is to gather the nations, to assemble the kingdoms, To pour upon them my indignation, Even all the heat of my wrath. For with the fire of mine anger shall all the earth be devoured.
9 Denn dann werde Ich Mich zu Völkern wenden mit lauter Lippe, daß sie alle den Namen Jehovahs anrufen und Ihm dienen mit einer Schulter.
Then will I again bestow upon the nations pure lips, So that they shall all of them call upon the name of Jehovah, And serve him with one consent.
10 Von jenseits der Flüsse Kuschs, die so Mich anflehen, die Tochter Meiner Zerstreuten, sie werden Mir Geschenke herbeibringen.
From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia My suppliants, the sons of my dispersed ones, shall bring my offering.
11 An jenem Tage mußt du dich nicht schämen ob all deiner Taten, wodurch du von Mir abgefallen bist; denn dann nehme Ich weg aus deiner Mitte die übermütig Jauchzenden, daß du nicht fürder mehr hoffärtig seist auf dem Berge meiner Heiligkeit.
In that day thou shalt not be ashamed For all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me; For I will take away from the midst of thee thy proud exulters, And thou shalt no more exalt thyself upon my holy mountain.
12 Und Ich lasse verbleiben in deiner Mitte ein elendes und geringes Volk, und sie sollen sich verlassen auf den Namen Jehovahs.
I will leave in the midst of thee a humble and lowly people, Who trust in the name of Jehovah.
13 Israels Überrest wird nichts Verkehrtes tun, und nichts Falsches reden. Und in ihrem Munde wird man nicht des Truges Zunge finden. Denn sie werden weiden und sich lagern, und niemand scheucht sie auf.
The residue of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak falsehood; Neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth; Therefore shall they feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
14 Lobsinge, du Tochter Zijons, rufe laut, Israel, sei fröhlich und jauchze von ganzem Herzen, Tochter Jerusalems.
Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!
15 Jehovah hat deine Gerichte weggenommen, hat abgewandt deinen Feind. Israels König ist Jehovah in deiner Mitte, kein Böses wirst du mehr fürchten.
Jehovah hath taken away thy punishments; He hath removed thine enemies. The king of Israel, Jehovah, is in the midst of thee; Thou shalt see evil no more.
16 An jenem Tage wird man sprechen zu Jerusalem: Fürchte dich nicht! Laß deine Hände, Zijon, nicht erschlaffen.
In that day shall it be said to Jerusalem, Fear not! And to Zion, Let not thy hands hang down!
17 Jehovah, dein Gott, ist in deiner Mitte, der Held, Der rettet. Er wird ob dir Sich freuen mit Fröhlichkeit, wird stille schweigen in Seiner Liebe, wird jubelnd frohlocken über dir.
Jehovah thy God will be in the midst of thee; The mighty one will save thee. He will rejoice over thee with gladness; He will pardon thee in his love; He will exult over thee with singing.
18 Die, welche sich vom Festorte weg grämten, sammle Ich, sie waren fort von dir. Eine Last war auf ihr, eine Schmach.
I will gather them that mourn, far from the solemn assembly, They were far from thee; the reproach was a burden upon thee.
19 Siehe, Ich werde es tun zur selben Zeit mit allen deinen Bedrückern, und rette die, welche hinkt, bringe die Verstoßenen zusammen; und Ich setze dieselben zum Lobe und zum Namen in all dem Lande ihrer Scham.
Behold, at that time I will destroy all that afflict thee; And I will save the halting, and gather the scattered, And I will make them a praise and a name In every land where they have been put to shame.
20 Zu jener Zeit bringe Ich euch herein, und zu der Zeit bringe Ich euch zusammen; denn zum Namen und zum Lob gebe Ich euch unter allen Völkern der Erde, wenn Ich eure Gefangenschaft vor euren Augen zurückgewendet habe, spricht Jehovah.
At that time I will bring you back, And at that time I will gather you; For I will make you a name and a praise among all the nations of the earth, When I bring back your captives before your eyes, saith Jehovah.
