Roemers 12
1 Ich ermahne euch nun, Brüder, durch die Barmherzigkeit Gottes, daß ihr eure Leiber hingebet, als ein lebendiges, heiliges, Gott wohlgefälliges Opfer zu eurem geistigen Gottesdienst.
I plead with you therefore, brethren, by the compassionsof God, to present all your faculties to Him as a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to Him. This with you will be an act of reasonable worship.
2 Und stellet euch nicht dieser Welt gleich, sondern bildet euch um durch die Erneuerung eures Sinnes, auf daß ihr prüfen möget, welches da sei der gute, der wohlgefällige und der vollkommene Gotteswille. (aiōn g165)
And do not follow the customs of the present age, but be transformed by the entire renewal of your minds, so that you may learn by experience what God's will is--that will which is good and beautiful and perfect. (aiōn g165)
3 Denn ich sage vermöge der mir verliehenen Gnade einem jeglichen unter euch, daß er nicht weiter von sich halte, denn sich es gebührt zu halten, sondern daß er sich bescheiden soll, je nach dem Maß des Glaubens, das ihm Gott zugeteilt hat.
For through the authority graciously given to me I warn every individual among you not to value himself unduly, but to cultivate sobriety of judgement in accordance with the amount of faith which God has allotted to each one.
4 Denn gleich wie wir an dem einen Körper viele Glieder, alle Glieder aber nicht die gleiche Verrichtung haben;
For just as there are in the one human body many parts, and these parts have not all the same function;
5 Also sind wir viele ein Leib in Christus, aber jeder einzelne ist des anderen Glied,
so collectively we form one body in Christ, while individually we are linked to one another as its members.
6 Indem wir je nach der uns verliehenen Gnade verschiedene Gaben haben.
But since we have special gifts which differ in accordance with the diversified work graciously entrusted to us, if it is prophecy, let the prophet speak in exact proportion to his faith;
7 Hat jemand die Gabe der Weissagung, so geschehe sie nach dem Maß seines Glaubens. Hat jemand ein Amt, so warte er des Amtes. Hat er zu lehren, so warte er der Lehre.
if it is the gift of administration, let the administrator exercise a sound judgement in his duties.
8 Oder ermahnt einer, so ermahne er treulich. Hat einer von dem Seinen milde Gaben zu geben, so gebe er in Einfalt. Hat er vorzustehen, so tue er es mit Eifer. Hat er für Leidende zu sorgen, so tue er es mit Freundlichkeit.
The teacher must do the same in his teaching; and he who exhorts others, in his exhortation. He who gives should be liberal; he who is in authority should be energetic and alert; and he who succours the afflicted should do it cheerfully.
9 Eure Liebe sei ungeheuchelt, verabscheut das Böse, hanget dem Guten an.
Let your love be perfectly sincere. Regard with horror what is evil; cling to what is right.
10 Eure Bruderliebe untereinander sei herzlich. Gehe einer dem anderen voran in der Achtung gegen ihn.
As for brotherly love, be affectionate to one another; in matters of worldly honour, yield to one another.
11 Lasset nicht nach an Eifer. Seid brünstig im Geist. Schicket euch in die Zeit!
Do not be indolent when zeal is required. Be thoroughly warm-hearted, the Lord's own servants,
12 Seid fröhlich in Hoffnung, geduldig in Trübsal, haltet an am Gebet.
full of joyful hope, patient under persecution, earnest and persistent in prayer.
13 Nehmt euch der Notdurft der Heiligen an, fleißiget euch der Gastfreundschaft.
Relieve the necessities of God's people; always practise hospitality.
14 Segnet, die euch verfolgen! Segnet, und verwünschet nicht!
Invoke blessings on your persecutors--blessings, not curses.
15 Seid fröhlich mit den Fröhlichen, und weinet mit den Weinenden.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.
16 Seid einträchtig untereinander. Trachtet nicht nach Hohem, sondern haltet euch zu den Niedrigen. Bildet euch nicht zu viel ein auf euch selbst.
Have full sympathy with one another. Do not give your mind to high things, but let humble ways content you. Do not be wise in your own conceits.
17 Vergeltet niemand Böses mit Bösem. Befleißigt euch des Guten vor aller Welt.
Pay back to no man evil for evil. Take thought for what is right and seemly in every one's esteem.
18 Womöglich haltet, so viel an euch ist, mit allen Menschen Frieden.
If you can, so far as it depends on you, live at peace with all the world.
19 Rächt euch nicht selbst, Geliebte, sondern gebt Raum dem Zorne; denn es steht geschrieben: Mein ist die Rache; Ich will vergelten, spricht der Herr.
Do not be revengeful, my dear friends, but give way before anger; for it is written, "'Revenge belongs to Me: I will pay back,' says the Lord."
20 So nun deinen Feind hungert, so speise ihn, dürstet ihn, so tränke ihn; denn wenn du das tust, wirst du feurige Kohlen auf sein Haupt sammeln.
On the contrary, therefore, if your enemy is hungry, give him food; if he is thirsty, quench his thirst. For by doing this you will be heaping burning coals upon his head.
21 Laß dich nicht das Böse überwinden, sondern überwinde das Böse mit Gutem.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome the evil with goodness.
