Psalm 91

1 Wer sitzt im Verborgenen des Höchsten, und wer weilt unter dem Schatten von Schaddai,

He who sitteth under the shelter of the Most High Maketh his abode in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 Der spricht zu Jehovah: Meine Zuversicht und meine Feste, mein Gott, auf Den ich vertraue.

I say to the LORD, Thou art my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust.

3 Denn vor der Schlinge des Vogelstellers wird Er dich erretten, vor der Pest des Unheils.

Surely he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the wasting pestilence;

4 Mit Seinem Fittich deckt Er dich, unter Seinem Flügel sollst du deine Zuversicht haben, Schild und Tartsche ist Seine Wahrheit.

He will cover thee with his feathers, And under his wings shalt thou find refuge; His faithfulness shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Nicht darfst du vor dem Schauer der Nacht dich fürchten, noch vor dem Pfeile, der bei Tage fliegt,

Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night, Nor of the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Vor der Pest, die im Dunkel dahingeht, vor der Seuche, die am Mittag verheert.

Nor of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, Nor of the plague that destroyeth at noonday.

7 Ob dir zur Seite fallen Tausend und Zehntausend zu deiner Rechten; an dich tritt es nicht heran.

A thousand shall fall by thy side, And ten thousand at thy right hand; But thee it shall not touch.

8 Mit deinen Augen nur erblickst du es und siehst die Vergeltung der Ungerechten.

Thou shalt only behold with thine eyes, And see the recompense of the wicked.

9 Denn Du bist meine Zuversicht, Jehovah! - Den Höchsten hast du dir zu deiner Wohnstätte gesetzt.

Because thou hast made the LORD thy refuge, And the Most High thy habitation,

10 Dir wird nichts Böses widerfahren, und keine Plage deinem Zelt sich nahen.

No evil shall befall thee, Nor any plague come near thy dwelling.

11 Denn Seinen Engeln hat Er über dir geboten, daß sie auf allen deinen Wegen dich behüten;

For he will give his angels charge over thee, To guard thee in all thy ways.

12 Daß auf den Händen sie dich tragen, daß du deinen Fuß nicht stoßest an den Stein.

They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Auf Löwen und auf Ottern wirst du treten, und zerstampfen den jungen Löwen und den Drachen.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; The young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under foot.

14 Weil er nach Mir verlangt, werde Ich ihn befreien, in beschützen, weil er Meinen Namen kennt.

“Because he loveth me, I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knoweth my name.

15 Er rufe Mich an, und Ich antworte ihm, bin mit ihm in der Drangsal, reiße ihn heraus und verherrliche ihn.

When he calleth upon me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and bring him to honor.

16 Mit Länge der Tage will Ich ihn sättigen, und lasse Mein Heil ihn sehen.

With long life will I satisfy him, And show him my salvation.”
