Psalm 90
1 Herr, Du warst unsere Wohnstätte in Geschlecht und Geschlecht.
A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.
2 Bevor die Berge geboren und die Erde und die Welt gestaltet wurden, bist Du Gott von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit.
Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou art God.
3 Du läßt den Menschen zurückkehren zum Zermalmten und sprichst: Kehret zurück, ihr Menschensöhne!
Thou makest [mortal] man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.
4 Denn tausend Jahre sind in Deinen Augen, wie der Tag, der gestrige, wenn er vorübergegangen ist, und wie eine Wache in der Nacht.
For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
5 Du schwemmst sie dahin, sie sind im Schlaf; am Morgen sind sie wie das Gras, das emporsproßt.
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning they are like grass [that] groweth up:
6 Am Morgen blüht und sproßt es empor, am Abend ist es abgeschnitten und vertrocknet.
In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.
7 Vor Deinem Zorn werden wir verzehrt, und vor Deinem Grimme werden wir bestürzt.
For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.
8 Du stellst vor Dich unsere Missetaten; was wir verborgen, in Deines Angesichtes Licht.
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
9 Denn alle unsere Tage schwinden vor Deinem Wüten, wie ein Sinnen vollenden wir unsere Jahre.
For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a [passing] thought.
10 Die Tage unserer Jahre sind ihrer siebzig Jahre, und wenn es hoch kommt achtzig Jahre, und ihr Umfang ist Mühsal und Unrecht, denn es eilt schleunig dahin, als flögen wir davon.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 Wer kennt die Stärke Deines Zorns, und Deiner Furcht gemäß Dein Wüten?
Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?
12 Unsere Tage zu berechnen tue uns recht kund, daß wir darbringen ein Herz der Weisheit.
So teach [us] to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.
13 Jehovah, kehre zurück! Wie lange? Und lasse Dich es gereuen über Deinen Knecht.
Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
14 Sättige uns mit Deiner Barmherzigkeit am Morgen, daß wir jubeln und fröhlich sind alle unsere Tage.
Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Mache uns fröhlich gemäß den Tagen, da Du uns gedemütigt hast, gemäß den Jahren, da wir Böses sahen.
Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, according to the years [wherein] we have seen evil.
16 Dein Werk erscheine Deinen Knechten, und deine Ehre über ihren Söhnen!
Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.
17 Daß auf uns sei die Lieblichkeit Jehovahs, unseres Gottes. Und festige unserer Hände Werk bei uns, festige Du unserer Hände Werk.
And let the beauty of Jehovah our God be upon us; and establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.
