Psalm 76

1 Dem Singmeister mit Saitenspiel. Ein Psalm Asaphs, ein Lied. Bekannt in Jehudah ist Gott. In Israel ist groß Sein Name.

To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalme or song committed to Asaph. God is knowen in Iudah: his Name is great in Israel.

2 Und Seine Hütte ist in Schalem und in Zion Seine Wohnstätte.

For in Shalem is his Tabernacle, and his dwelling in Zion.

3 Da zerbricht Er des Bogens Feuerpfeile, Schild und Schwert und Streit. (Selah)

There brake he the arrowes of the bowe, the shielde and the sword and the battell. (Selah)

4 Du leuchtest stattlicher, denn die Berge des Raubes.

Thou art more bright and puissant, then the mountaines of pray.

5 Zur Beute wurden die Gewaltigen von Herzen, sie schlummern ihren Schlaf; und nicht fanden alle die Männer der Tapferkeit ihre Hände.

The stout hearted are spoyled: they haue slept their sleepe, and all the men of strength haue not found their hands.

6 Von Deinem Drohen, Gott Jakobs, entschlafen beides: Streitwagen und Roß.

At thy rebuke, O God of Iaakob, both the chariot and horse are cast a sleepe.

7 Du bist furchtbar, Du, und wer könnte vor Dir stehen, wenn Du zürnst?

Thou, euen thou art to be feared: and who shall stand in thy sight, when thou art angrie!

8 Vom Himmel her läßt Du hören das Urteil, die Erde fürchtet sich und rastet,

Thou didest cause thy iudgement to bee heard from heauen: therefore the earth feared and was still,

9 Wenn Gott Sich zum Gericht aufmacht, zu retten alle Elenden der Erde. (Selah)

When thou, O God, arose to iudgement, to helpe all the meeke of the earth. (Selah)

10 Denn Dich bekennt des Menschen Grimm, mit dem Überrest des Grimmes gürtest Du Dich.

Surely the rage of man shall turne to thy praise: the remnant of the rage shalt thou restrayne.

11 Gelobet und entrichtet Jehovah, eurem Gotte, ihr alle ringsumher. Bringet dem Furchtbaren Geschenke dar.

Vowe and performe vnto the Lord your God, all ye that be rounde about him: let them bring presents vnto him that ought to be feared.

12 Er demütigt den Geist der Führer, Er ist furchtbar den Königen der Erde.

He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the Kings of the earth.
