< Psalm 63 >

1 Ein Psalm Davids, als er in der Wüste Judah war. Gott, mein Gott bist Du, nach Dir suche ich frühe, nach Dir dürstet meine Seele, nach Dir schmachtet mein Fleisch im Lande der Dürre, und wenn matt, ohne Wasser.
God, you are the God whom I [worship]. I greatly desire to be with you like [SIL] a person in a dry hot desert greatly desires [some cool water].
2 So habe ich nach dir im Heiligtum geschaut, um Deine Stärke und Herrlichkeit zu sehen.
So, I want to see you in your temple; I want to see that you are great and glorious.
3 Denn besser als Leben ist Deine Barmherzigkeit. Meine Lippen sollen Dich preisen.
Your constantly loving [me] is (worth more/more precious) than [my] life, so I [MTY] will [always] praise you.
4 So will ich segnen Dich in meinem Leben, will in Deinem Namen meine Hände erheben.
I will praise you all the time that I live; I will lift up my hands to you while I pray.
5 Gleich wie an Fett und an Feistem sich sättigt meine Seele, und mit Lippen der Lobpreisung lobt Dich mein Mund,
[Knowing you satisfies me more than] [IDM, MET] my eating a very big feast, [so] I will praise you while I sing [MTY] joyful songs.
6 Wenn Deiner ich gedenke auf meiner Lagerstätte, in Nachtwachen sinne über Dich,
While I lie on my bed, I think about you. I think/meditate about you all during the night,
7 Daß Du mir Beistand warst, darum lobpreise ich im Schatten Deiner Flügel.
because you have always helped me, and I sing joyfully knowing that I am protected by you [as a little bird is protected] under [its mother’s] wings [MET].
8 An Dir hängt meine Seele, mich erhält Deine Rechte.
I cling to you; and with your hand/power you protect me.
9 Sie aber, die nach meiner Seele trachten, sie zu zerstören: Laß sie kommen in der Erde Unterstes.
But those who are trying to kill me will [die and] descend into the place of the dead;
10 Lasse sie durch die Hand des Schwertes vergehen, Schakalen zum Anteil werden.
they will be killed in battles [MTY] and their [corpses] will be eaten by jackals/wild dogs.
11 Der König aber wird fröhlich sein in Gott, und jeder sich rühmen, der bei Ihm schwört, wenn der Mund wird verstopft denen, so Lüge reden.
But I, the king [of Israel], will rejoice in what God has done; and all those who revere and trust God will praise him, but he will not allow liars to say anything.
