Psalm 51
1 Dem Sangmeister. Ein Psalm von David; Als Nathan, der Prophet, zu ihm kam, als er zu Bathscheba eingegangen. Gott, sei mir gnädig nach Deiner Barmherzigkeit und wisch aus meine Übertretungen nach Deinen vielen Erbarmungen.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
2 Wasche mich wohl von meiner Missetat, und reinige mich von meiner Sünde.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity. Cleanse me from my sin.
3 Denn ich erkenne meine Übertretungen, und meine Sünde ist beständig vor mir.
For I know my transgressions. My sin is constantly before me.
4 An Dir, an Dir allein habe ich gesündigt und getan, was böse ist in Deinen Augen, auf daß Du gerecht seiest, wenn Du redest, daß Du lauter seiest in Deinem Gericht.
Against you, and you only, I have sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight, so you may be proved right when you speak, and justified when you judge.
5 Siehe, in Missetat ward ich geboren, und in Sünde empfing mich meine Mutter.
Behold, I was born in iniquity. My mother conceived me in sin.
6 Siehe, Du hast Lust zu Wahrheit in den Nieren, und lässest mich erkennen Weisheit im Verborgenen.
Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts. You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
7 Entsündige mich mit Ysop, und ich werde rein, wasche mich, und ich werde weißer denn Schnee.
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Laß Freude und Fröhlichkeit hören mich, daß die Gebeine frohlocken, die Du zerschlagen hast.
Let me hear joy and gladness, that the bones which you have broken may rejoice.
9 Dein Angesicht birg vor meinen Sünden, wische aus alle meine Missetaten.
Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all of my iniquities.
10 Schaffe mir ein reines Herz, o Gott, und einen festen Geist erneue in meinem Inneren.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.
11 Wirf mich nicht weg von Deinem Angesicht, und nimm den Geist Deiner Heiligkeit nicht von mir.
Don’t throw me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Gib mir zurück die Freude Deines Heils, und ein freiwilliger Geist erhalte mich.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit.
13 Übertreter will ich Deine Wege lehren, und Sünder sollen zurückkehren zu Dir.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways. Sinners will be converted to you.
14 Errette mich von Blutschuld, Gott, Gott meines Heils, daß meine Zunge lobpreise Deine Gerechtigkeit.
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation. My tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
15 Herr, öffne meine Lippen und mein Mund sagt an Dein Lob.
Lord, open my lips. My mouth will declare your praise.
16 Denn am Opfer hast Du keine Lust, daß ich es gäbe; Brandopfer gefällt Dir nicht.
For you don’t delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering.
17 Opfer Gottes sind ein gebrochener Geist; ein gebrochenes und zerschlagenes Herz verachtest Du nicht, o Gott!
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart.
18 Tue Zion wohl nach Deinem Wohlgefallen, baue die Mauern Jerusalems.
Do well in your good pleasure to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Dann hast Du Lust an Opfern der Gerechtigkeit, an Brandopfer und ganzem Opfer. Dann läßt man Farren auf Deinem Altare aufgehen.
Then you will delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt offerings and in whole burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.
