Psalm 36
1 Dem Sangmeister. Von David, dem Knechte Jehovahs. Ein Spruch der Übertretung zu dem Ungerechten inmitten meines Herzens: Keine Furcht Gottes ist vor seinen Augen.
[Wicked people continually desire to] sin. They consider [IDM] that they do not need to revere God.
2 Denn er schmeichelt sich in seinen Augen, daß er ausfinde seine Missetat, daß er sie hasse.
Because they are very proud, they do not think that God will discover their sins and condemn them (OR, they do not think about their sins and hate themselves for it).
3 Die Worte seines Mundes sind Unrecht und Trug, er unterläßt, verständig zu werden und Gutes zu tun.
[Everything] that they say is deceitful and full of lies; they no longer do what is good and are no longer wise.
4 Er denkt Unrecht auf seinem Lager, und stellt sich auf einen Weg, der gut nicht ist, und verschmäht nicht Böses.
While they are lying on their beds, they plan to do things to harm [others]; they are determined to do things that are not good, and they never refuse [to do what is] evil.
5 Jehovah, Deine Barmherzigkeit ist in den Himmeln, bis an die Ätherkreise Deine Wahrheit.
Yahweh, your faithful love for us reaches as high as the heavens, you faithfully [do what you have promised]; [it is as though your doing that] extends up to the clouds.
6 Wie die Berge Gottes ist Deine Gerechtigkeit, Deine Gerichte sind wie die große Tiefe. Du rettest, Jehovah, Menschen und Vieh.
Your righteous behavior is [as permanent as] the highest mountains [MET], your acting justly [will continue as long as] the deepest oceans [exist]. You take care of people and you take care of animals.
7 Wie köstlich ist, Gott, Deine Barmherzigkeit, daß Söhne der Menschen sich verlassen auf den Schatten Deiner Flügel!
God, your faithful love for us is very precious. You protect us like birds protect their baby birds under their wings [MET].
8 Sie schwelgen an der Fettigkeit Deines Hauses, und mit Deiner Wonnen Bach tränkest Du sie.
You provide for us plenty of food from the abundant supply [IDM] that you have; your great blessings for us [flow] like a river.
9 Denn bei Dir ist des Lebens Born, in Deinem Lichte sehen wir Licht.
You are the one who causes everything to live; your light is what enables us to see.
10 Breite Deine Barmherzigkeit über die, so Dich kennen, und Deine Gerechtigkeit über die, so geraden Herzens sind.
Continue to faithfully love those who have experienced a relationship with you, and bless those who act righteously/justly.
11 Laß nicht den Fuß des Übermuts über mich kommen; und nicht des Ungerechten Hand mich hinwegtreiben.
Do not allow proud people [SYN] to attack me, or allow wicked people to chase me away.
12 Da sind gefallen, die Unrecht tun, sie sind ausgestoßen und vermögen nicht mehr aufzustehen.
Look where evil people have fallen on the ground, defeated; they were thrown down, and they will never rise again.
