Psalm 146

1 Hallelujah! Lobe Jehovah, meine Seele!

Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, my soul.

2 Ich will Jehovah loben in meinem Leben, will meinem Gotte Psalmen singen, weil ich bin.

While I live, I will praise the LORD. I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.

3 Vertrauet nicht auf Fürsten, nicht auf den Sohn eines Menschen, in dem kein Heil ist.

Don’t put your trust in princes, in a son of man in whom there is no help.

4 Sein Geist geht aus, er kehrt zurück zu seinem Boden; an selbigem Tage vergehen alle seine Pläne.

His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish.

5 Selig der, des Beistand der Gott Jakobs ist, des Erwartung ist auf Jehovah, seinem Gott.

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD, his God,

6 Der Himmel und Erde, das Meer, und alles, was darin ist, hat gemacht, Der Wahrheit hält in Ewigkeit.

who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever;

7 Der Gericht tut für den Niedergedrückten, Brot gibt den Hungrigen; Jehovah löst die Gebundenen.

who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.

8 Jehovah macht Blinde sehend, Jehovah richtet die Gebeugten auf, Jehovah liebt die Gerechten.

The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD raises up those who are bowed down. The LORD loves the righteous.

9 Jehovah hütet die Fremdlinge; Er läßt feststehen Waise und Witwe, und stürzt um der Ungerechten Wege,

The LORD preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but he turns the way of the wicked upside down.

10 Jehovah ist König in Ewigkeit, dein Gott, o Zion, für Geschlecht und Geschlecht! Hallelujah.

The LORD will reign forever; your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!
