Psalm 139

1 Jehovah, Du erforschest mich und kennst mich.

For the Leader. A Psalm of David. O LORD, Thou hast searched me, and known me.

2 Du weißt mein Sitzen und mein Aufstehen, Du merkst meine Gedanken von ferne.

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandest my thought afar off.

3 Meinen Pfad und mein Niederliegen durchsuchst Du, und bist vertraut mit allen meinen Wegen.

Thou measurest my going about and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

4 Denn kein Wort ist auf meiner Zunge, siehe Jehovah! Du weißt es alles.

For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, Thou knowest it altogether.

5 Hinten und vorne hast Du mich umlagert, und Deine Hand auf mich gelegt.

Thou hast hemmed me in behind and before, and laid Thy hand upon me.

6 Das Wissen ist zu wunderbar für mich, zu hoch, ich fasse es nicht.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; too high, I cannot attain unto it.

7 Wohin soll ich gehen vor Deinem Geist und wohin entweichen vor Deinem Angesicht?

Whither shall I go from Thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence?

8 Führe empor ich zum Himmel, so bist Du da, bettete ich mich in der Hölle, siehe, Du bist hier. (Sheol h7585)

If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there; if I make my bed in the nether-world, behold, Thou art there. (Sheol h7585)

9 Erhöbe ich der Morgenröte Flügel, wohnte am hintersten Meere:

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Auch dort würde mich führen Deine Hand, und Deine Rechte mich ergreifen.

Even there would Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand would hold me.

11 Und spräche ich: Finsternis umhülle mich doch, so würde Nacht zum Lichte um mich.

And if I say: 'Surely the darkness shall envelop me, and the light about me shall be night';

12 Auch Finsternis macht finster nicht vor Dir; und Nacht leuchtet wie der Tag, Finsternis ist wie das Licht.

Even the darkness is not too dark for Thee, but the night shineth as the day; the darkness is even as the light.

13 Denn Du besitzest meine Nieren, mich bedecktest Du in meiner Mutter Leibe;

For Thou hast made my reins; Thou hast knit me together in my mother's womb.

14 Ich bekenne Dich: Weil furchtbar, wunderbar ich bin gemacht; wunderbar sind Deine Taten, und dies weiß meine Seele sehr wohl.

I will give thanks unto Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 Es war Dir nicht verhohlen mein Gebein, da im Verborgenen ich gemacht ward, da ich gewirkt ward in der Erde unteren Räumen.

My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Als ich noch ungestaltet war, sahen mich Deine Augen, und sie alle waren in Dein Buch geschrieben, die Tage, die bestimmt worden, und von denen nicht einer da war.

Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance, and in Thy book they were all written — even the days that were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17 Und wie köstlich sind mir Deine Gedanken, Gott! Wie ist so mächtig ihre Summe!

How weighty also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

18 Sollte ich sie zählen, sind ihrer mehr denn des Sandes, erwache ich, so bin ich noch bei Dir.

If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand; were I to come to the end of them, I would still be with Thee.

19 O daß Du tötetest den Ungerechten, o Gott, und die Männer des Blutes von mir abwichen!

If Thou but wouldest slay the wicked, O God — depart from me therefore, ye men of blood;

20 Die von Dir mit Arglist sprechen, zum Eitlen erheben sich Deine Gegner.

Who utter Thy name with wicked thought, they take it for falsehood, even Thine enemies —

21 Hasse ich nicht, Jehovah, die Dich hassen, und habe Verdruß auf die, so sich wider Dich erheben?

Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate Thee? And do not I strive with those that rise up against Thee?

22 Mit ganzem Hasse hasse ich sie, sie sind zu Feinden mir geworden.

I hate them with utmost hatred; I count them mine enemies.

23 Erforsche mich Gott und kenne mein Herz, prüfe mich und kenne meine Bekümmernis.

Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts;

24 Und siehe, ob ich auf dem Wege des Schmerzes bin, und führe mich auf den Weg der Ewigkeit.

And see if there be any way in me that is grievous, and lead me in the way everlasting.
