Psalm 116

1 Das ist mir lieb, daß Jehovah hört meine Stimme, mein Flehen,

I love Jehovah, for he hath heard my voice [and] my supplications;

2 Daß Er Sein Ohr neigt zu mir; und in meinen Tagen will ich Ihn anrufen.

For he hath inclined his ear unto me, and I will call upon him during [all] my days.

3 Des Todes Stricke umfingen mich, und der Hölle Drangsale trafen mich, und ich fand Drangsal und Gram. (Sheol h7585)

The bands of death encompassed me, and the anguish of Sheol took hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow: (Sheol h7585)

4 Ich aber rief den Namen Jehovahs an. Lasse doch, Jehovah, entrinnen meine Seele!

Then called I upon the name of Jehovah: I beseech thee, Jehovah, deliver my soul.

5 Gnädig ist Jehovah und gerecht, und unser Gott erbarmt Sich.

Gracious is Jehovah and righteous; and our God is merciful.

6 Jehovah hütet die Einfältigen; ich ward schwach, und Er rettete mich.

Jehovah keepeth the simple: I was brought low, and he saved me.

7 Kehre, meine Seele, zurück zu deiner Ruhe; denn Jehovah hat dir wohlgetan.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 Denn Du hast meine Seele vom Tod herausgerissen, mein Auge von der Träne, meinen Fuß von dem Anstoßen.

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

9 Ich will vor dem Angesicht Jehovahs wandeln in den Landen der Lebendigen.

I will walk before Jehovah in the land of the living.

10 Ich glaubte, darum rede ich. Ich war sehr im Elend.

I believed, therefore have I spoken. As for me, I was greatly afflicted.

11 Ich sprach in meiner Hast: Jeder Mensch ist falsch.

I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12 Wie soll ich Jehovah wiedergeben all Seine Wohltaten an mir?

What shall I render unto Jehovah, [for] all his benefits toward me?

13 Den Becher des Heils erhebe ich und rufe Jehovahs Namen an.

I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of Jehovah.

14 Meine Gelübde will ich Jehovah entrichten nun vor all Seinem Volk.

I will perform my vows unto Jehovah, yea, before all his people.

15 Kostbar in den Augen Jehovahs ist der Tod Seiner Heiligen.

Precious in the sight of Jehovah is the death of his saints.

16 O Jehovah, ich bin ja Dein Knecht, Dein Knecht bin ich, der Sohn Deiner Magd. Du hast aufgetan meine Bande.

Yea, Jehovah! for I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 Dir will ich ein Opfer des Bekennens opfern, und Jehovahs Namen anrufen.

I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of Jehovah.

18 Ich will dem Jehovah meine Gelübde nun vor allem Seinem Volke entrichten.

I will perform my vows unto Jehovah, yea, before all his people,

19 In den Vorhöfen von Jehovahs Haus, mitten in dir, Jerusalem. Hallelujah!

In the courts of Jehovah's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!
