Psalm 10
1 Warum, Jehovah, stehst Du von ferne, verbirgst Dich zur Zeit der Drangsal?
Why do you stand far off, LORD? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2 Im Übermut jagt der Ungerechte dem Elenden nach; in den Tücken, die sie erdacht, laß sie erfaßt werden.
In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.
3 Denn der Ungerechte rühmt sich der Gelüste seiner Seele, und der Geizige segnet, er lästert Jehovah.
For the wicked boasts of his heart’s cravings. He blesses the greedy and condemns the LORD.
4 Der Ungerechte im Hochmut seines Antlitzes fragt nicht danach; Es ist kein Gott! ist all sein Sinnen.
The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.
5 Seine Wege sind verdreht alle Zeit. Zu hoch ihm gegenüber sind Deine Gerichte. All seine Dränger schnaubt er an.
His ways are prosperous at all times. He is arrogant, and your laws are far from his sight. As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them.
6 Er spricht in seinem Herzen: Nicht werde ich wanken; von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht bin ich nicht im Übel.
He says in his heart, “I shall not be shaken. For generations I shall have no trouble.”
7 Sein Mund ist voll Verwünschung, Trug und Hinterlist. Mühsal und Unrecht ist unter seiner Zunge.
His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.
8 Er sitzt im Hinterhalt der Höfe, insgeheim erwürgt er den Unschuldigen; seine Augen spähen nach den Unglücklichen.
He lies in wait near the villages. From ambushes, he murders the innocent. His eyes are secretly set against the helpless.
9 Insgeheim lauert er, wie der Löwe lauert unterm Blätterdach zu erhaschen den Elenden; er erhascht den Elenden, zieht ihn in sein Netz.
He lurks in secret as a lion in his ambush. He lies in wait to catch the helpless. He catches the helpless when he draws him in his net.
10 Er duckt, er bückt sich, und unter seinen Mächtigen fällt der Unglückliche.
The helpless are crushed. They collapse. They fall under his strength.
11 Er spricht in seinem Herzen: Gott hat es vergessen, hat Sein Angesicht verborgen, sieht es nimmermehr.
He says in his heart, “God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.”
12 Mache Dich auf, Jehovah, hebe Deine Hand auf, o Gott! Vergiß nicht der Elenden!
Arise, LORD! God, lift up your hand! Don’t forget the helpless.
13 Warum soll der Ungerechte Gott lästern, in seinem Herzen sprechen: Du fragst nicht danach?
Why does the wicked person condemn God, and say in his heart, “God won’t call me into account”?
14 Du siehst es, denn Du blickst auf Mühsal und Verdruß, um mit Deiner Hand zu geben. Dir überläßt sich der Unglückliche. Dem Waisen bist Du ein Beistand.
But you do see trouble and grief. You consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless.
15 Zerbrich den Arm des Ungerechten; und beim Bösen: suche seine Ungerechtigkeit bis Du nichts mehr findest.
Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.
16 Jehovah ist König ewiglich und immerfort; die Völkerschaften vergehen aus Seinem Lande.
The LORD is King forever and ever! The nations will perish out of his land.
17 Der Elenden Sehnen hörst Du, Jehovah; Du bereitest ihr Herz; es horcht auf sie Dein Ohr.
LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,
18 Auf daß Du schaffest Recht, dem Waisen und dem Schwachen, daß der Mensch von der Erde nicht mehr trotze.
to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more.
