Obadja 1
1 Gesicht Obadjahs. So spricht der Herr Jehovah zu Edom: Wir haben ein Gerücht gehört von Jehovah, und eine Gesandtschaft wird gesandt unter die Völkerschaften: Steht auf, und laßt uns aufstehen wider sie zum Streite.
The vision of 'Obadiah: Thus hath said the Lord Eternal concerning Edom, A rumor have we heard from the Lord, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her to war.
2 Siehe, Ich mache dich klein unter den Völkerschaften. Sehr verachtet bist du.
Behold, I make thee small among the nations: thou shalt be greatly despised.
3 Die Vermessenheit deines Herzens hat dich verführt, die du wohnst in den Klüften der Felsenklippen, der Höhe deines Sitzes. Er spricht in seinem Herzen: Wer wird mich zur Erde hinabstürzen?
The presumption of thy heart hath beguiled thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
4 Und wenn du wie der Adler in die Höhe führest und setztest dein Nest zwischen die Sterne, will Ich dich von da herabziehen, spricht Jehovah.
Though thou wert to rise as high as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.
5 Wenn Diebe über dich kommen, wenn Verheerer der Nacht, wie wirst du da untergehen! Werden sie nicht stehlen, bis sie genug haben? Wenn Winzer über dich kommen, werden sie dir nicht eine Nachlese verbleiben lassen?
How? are thieves come to thee? or night-prowling robbers? how destroyed art thou! would they not have stolen till they had enough? if grape-gatherers had come to thee, would they not have left some gleanings?
6 Wie wird Esau durchforscht, seine Schlupfwinkel durchsucht werden!
How are [the treasures] of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things laid open!
7 Bis zur Grenze geleiten dich alle Männer deines Bundes, die Männer, die in Frieden mit dir waren, verführen, sie überwältigen dich; dein Brot - sie legen unter dir einen Fallstrick; du aber merkst nicht darauf.
Up to the border have accompanied thee all the men of thy confederacy; beguiled, overcome thee have the men that were at peace with thee: [they that eat] thy bread have struck thee secretly a wound. There is no understanding in him.
8 Wird es nicht, spricht Jehovah, an jenem Tage geschehen, daß Ich die Weisen aus Edom und die Einsicht aus dem Berge Esaus zerstöre?
Shall I not on that same day, saith the Lord, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
9 Und entsetzt werden sein deine Helden, Theman, daß der Mann ausgerottet wird vom Berge Esaus ob dem Morden.
And thy mighty men, O Theman, shall be dismayed, in order that every one from the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
10 Ob der Gewalttat an deinem Bruder Jakob wirst du bedeckt mit Scham, und wirst ausgerottet werden in Ewigkeit,
Because of thy violence against thy brother Jacob shall shame cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
11 Am Tage, da du gegenüber standest, am Tage, da Fremde seine Streitmacht gefangen führten, und Ausländer durch seine Tore einzogen und über Jerusalem das Los warfen, warst auch du wie einer von ihnen.
On the day that thou stoodest on the other side, on the day that strangers carried away captive his army, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots over Jerusalem, also thou wast as any one of them.
12 Du solltest nicht zusehen am Tage deines Bruders, am Tage der Entfremdung, und nicht froh sein über die Söhne Jehudahs am Tage ihrer Zerstörung, und nicht deinen Mund groß machen am Tage der Drangsal.
But thou shouldst not have looked on [pleased] at the day of thy brother, on the day that he was delivered up to strangers; neither shouldst thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah on the day of their destruction; nor should thou have spoken proudly on the day of distress.
13 Nicht solltest du zum Tore Meines Volkes eingehen am Tage ihrer Not, du solltest nicht, auch du, sein Übel ansehen am Tage seiner Not; und nicht ausstrecken an sein Vermögen am Tage seiner Not.
Thou shouldst not have entered into the gate of my people on the day of their calamity; yea, thou too shouldst not have looked [pleased] on their affliction on the day of their calamity; nor have laid hands on their army on the day of their calamity;
14 Und solltest nicht stehen an der Wegscheide, seine Entkommenen auszurotten; und nicht sollst du seinen Rest überantworten am Tag der Drangsal.
Neither shouldst thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldst thou have delivered up those of his that did remain on the day of distress.
15 Denn nahe ist Jehovahs Tag über alle Völkerschaften; wie du getan hast, so wird dir getan; deine Vergeltung kehrt auf dein Haupt zurück.
For near is the day of the Lord over all the nations: as thou hast done, shall it be done unto thee; thy deeds shall return upon thy own head.
16 Denn wie ihr getrunken habt auf dem Berg Meiner Heiligkeit, so sollen alle Völkerschaften beständig trinken, und sie sollen trinken und hinabschlingen, und sollen sein, als wären sie nicht gewesen.
For as ye have drunk upon my holy mount, so shall all the nations drink continually; yea, they shall drink, and they shall reel about, and they shall be as though they had not been.
17 Aber auf dem Berge Zijons wird ein Entkommen sein, und wird sein eine Heiligkeit, und das Haus Jakob wird erblich besitzen ihren Erbbesitz.
But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holy: and the house of Jacob shall again possess their inheritances.
18 Und das Haus Jakob wird ein Feuer und das Haus Joseph eine Flamme und das Haus Esaus zur Stoppel werden, und sie zünden sie an und fressen sie auf, daß Esaus Hause kein Rest überbleibt; denn Jehovah hat es geredet.
And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau become stubble, and they shall set them on fire, and devour them; and there shall not be any one remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it.
19 Und die vom Mittag nehmen ein den Berg Esaus, und die in der Niederung die Philister, und sie besitzen erblich das Feld Schomrons, und Benjamin das Gilead.
And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the lowlands, the Philistines; and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin [shall possess] Gil'ad.
20 Und die Weggeführten dieser Streitmacht der Söhne Israels, so unter den Kanaanitern bis gen Zarpath sind, und die Weggeführten Jerusalems, die in Sepharad sind, werden die Städte im Mittag erblich besitzen.
And the exiles of this host of the children of Israel that are [with] the Canaanites, as far as Zarephath, and the exiles of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
21 Und Retter werden auf den Berg Zijon heraufziehen, zu richten den Berg Esaus, und Jehovahs wird sein das Königtum!
And deliverers shall go up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau: and the kingdom shall be the Lord's
