4 Mose 17

1 Und Jehovah redete zu Mose und sprach:

And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,

2 Rede zu den Söhnen Israels und nimm von ihnen je einen Stab für ein Vaterhaus von allen ihren Fürsten, nach dem Hause ihrer Väter, zwölf Stäbe. Jedes Mannes Namen sollst du auf seinen Stab schreiben.

“Speak to the sons of Israel, and take a rod from each of them, for a father’s house, from all their princes, for the house of their fathers—twelve rods; you write the name of each on his rod,

3 Und Aharons Namen sollst du auf den Stab Levis schreiben; denn ein Stab sei für das Haupt des Hauses ihrer Väter.

and you write Aaron’s name on the tribe of Levi; for one rod [is] for the head of their fathers’ house.

4 Und lege sie nieder im Versammlungszelt vor dem Zeugnis, wo Ich Mich bei euch einstelle.

And you have placed them in the Tent of Meeting before the Testimony, where I meet with you.

5 Und es wird geschehen, daß der Stab des Mannes, den Ich erwähle, sprossen wird, und so werde Ich das Murren der Söhne Israels gegen Mich, das sie wider euch murren, sich legen lassen.

And it has come to pass, the man’s rod on whom I fix flourishes, and I have caused the murmurings of the sons of Israel, which they are murmuring against you, to cease from off Me.”

6 Und Mose redete zu den Söhnen Israels, und es gaben ihm alle ihre Fürsten je einen Stab auf einen Fürsten nach dem Hause ihrer Väter, zwölf Stäbe, und inmitten ihrer Stäbe war Aharons Stab.

And Moses speaks to the sons of Israel, and all their princes give to him one rod for a prince, one rod for a prince, for their fathers’ house—twelve rods; and the rod of Aaron [is] in the midst of their rods;

7 Und Mose legte die Stäbe vor Jehovah im Versammlungszelt nieder.

and Moses places the rods before YHWH in the Tent of the Testimony.

8 Und es geschah, als Mose am morgenden Tag in das Zelt des Zeugnisses hineinkam, siehe, da hatte der Stab Aharons vom Hause Levi gesproßt und Knospen hervorgebracht, daß Blüten daran blühten, und Mandeln reiften.

And it comes to pass, on the next day, that Moses goes into the Tent of the Testimony, and behold, the rod of Aaron has flourished for the house of Levi, and brings out a bud, and blossoms [with] a blossom, and produces almonds;

9 Und Mose brachte alle Stäbe vom Angesicht Jehovahs heraus vor alle Söhne Israels, und sie sahen sie, und jeder Mann nahm seinen Stab.

and Moses brings out all the rods from before YHWH to all the sons of Israel, and they look, and each takes his rod.

10 Und Jehovah sprach zu Mose: Bringe den Stab Aharons zurück vor das Zeugnis zur Aufbewahrung als Zeichen für die Sühne der Widerspenstigkeit, daß ihr Murren von Mir alle werde und sie nicht sterben.

And YHWH says to Moses, “Put back the rod of Aaron before the Testimony, for a charge, for a sign to the sons of rebellion, and you remove their murmurings from off Me, and they do not die”;

11 Und Mose tat, wie Jehovah ihm geboten hatte.

and Moses does as YHWH has commanded him; so he has done.

12 Also tat er. Und die Söhne Israels sprachen zu Mose und sagten: Siehe, wir verscheiden, wir sind verloren, wir alle sind verloren!

And the sons of Israel speak to Moses, saying, “Behold, we have expired, we have perished, all of us have perished!

13 Jeder, der sich nahet, der sich naht der Wohnung Jehovahs, stirbt. Sollen wir alle umkommen, daß wir verscheiden?

Any who is at all drawing near to the Dwelling Place of YHWH dies; have we not been consumed—to expire?”
