1 Das Buch von der Geburt Jesu Christi, des Sohnes Davids, des Sohnes Abrahams.
A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham zeugte Isaak. Isaak aber zeugte Jakob. Jakob aber zeugte Judas und seine Brüder.
Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
3 Judas aber zeugte Phares und Zara von der Thamar. Phares aber zeugte Esrom. Esrom aber zeugte Aram.
and Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez was the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram,
4 Aram aber zeugte Aminadab. Aminadab aber zeugte Naasson, Naasson aber zeugte Salmon.
and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon,
5 Salmon aber zeugte Boas von der Rachab. Boas aber zeugte Obed von der Ruth, Obed aber zeugte den Jesse.
and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed was the father of Jesse,
6 Jesse aber zeugte den König David. Aber der König David zeugte Salomoh von dem Weibe des Uriah.
and Jesse the father of David the king. And David was the father of Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah;
7 Salomoh aber zeugte Roboam. Roboam aber zeugte Abia. Abia aber zeugte Asa.
and Solomon was the father of Rehoboam, and Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asa;
8 Asa aber zeugte Josaphat. Josaphat aber zeugte Joram. Joram aber zeugte Osiah.
and Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah,
9 Osiah aber zeugte Joatham. Joatham aber zeugte Achas. Achas aber zeugte Ezechias.
and Uzziah the father of Jotham, and Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah;
10 Ezechias aber zeugte Manasseh. Manasseh aber zeugte Amon. Amon aber zeugte Josias.
and Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, and Manasseh the father of Amon, and Amon the father of Josiah,
11 Josias aber zeugte Jechonjas und seine Brüder zur Zeit der Umsiedelung nach Babylon.
and Josiah the father of Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the exile to Babylon.
12 Nach der Umsiedelung nach Babylon aber zeugte Jechonjas den Salathiel, Salathiel aber zeugte Zorobabel.
And after the exile to Babylon, Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
13 Zorobabel aber zeugte Abiud. Abiud aber zeugte Eliakim. Eliakim aber zeugte Azor.
and Zerubbabel the father of Abihud, and Abihud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azzur,
14 Azor aber zeugte Zadok. Zadok aber zeugte Achim. Achim aber zeugte Eliud.
and Azzur the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Ahiam, and Ahiam the father of Elihud,
15 Eliud aber zeugte Eleasar. Eleasar aber zeugte Matthan. Matthan aber zeugte Jakob.
and Elihud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob,
16 Jakob aber zeugte Joseph, den Mann der Maria, von welcher Jesus, Der da heißt Christus, geboren ward.
and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, from whom was born Jesus, who is called the Christ.
17 Alle die Geschlechter nun von Abraham bis David sind vierzehn Geschlechter; und von David bis zur Umsiedelung nach Babylon vierzehn Geschlechter; und von der Umsiedelung nach Babylon bis auf Christus sind es vierzehn Geschlechter.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the exile to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the exile to Babylon to the Christ, fourteen generations.
18 Die Geburt Jesu Christi aber war also. Als nämlich Maria, Seine Mutter, dem Joseph verlobt war, fand sich, ehe sie zusammen kamen, daß sie vom Heiligen Geist empfangen hatte.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened like this. His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, and before they came together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
19 Joseph aber, ihr Mann, da er gerecht war, und sie nicht beschimpfen wollte, war willens, sie insgeheim zu entlassen.
And Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly.
20 Während er aber also gedachte, siehe, da erschien ihm der Engel des Herrn im Traum und sprach: Joseph, Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria, dein Weib zu dir zu nehmen; denn das in ihr Gezeugte ist von dem Heiligen Geist.
But when he thought about these things, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
21 Sie aber wird einen Sohn gebären, und Seinen Namen sollst du Jesus heißen; denn Er wird Sein Volk von seinen Sünden retten.
And she will bring forth a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
22 Dies alles ist aber geschehen, auf daß erfüllt würde, was vom Herrn durch den Propheten gesprochen worden, welcher sagt:
Now all this has happened, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
23 Siehe, die Jungfrau wird empfangen und einen Sohn gebären; und sie sollen Seinen Namen heißen Emmanuel, welches ist verdolmetscht: Gott mit uns.
"Look, the virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel;" which is translated, "God with us."
24 Vom Schlafe erwacht aber tat Joseph, wie ihm der Engel des Herrn verordnet hatte, und nahm sein Weib zu sich;
And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife to himself;
25 Und er erkannte sie nicht bis sie ihren erstgeborenen Sohn geboren hatte, und hieß Seinen Namen Jesus.
and had no marital relations with her until she had brought forth a son; and he named him Jesus.
