Matthaeus 3
1 In jenen Tagen aber trat Johannes der Täufer auf und predigte in der Wüste Judäas.
And in those dayes, Iohn the Baptist came and preached in the wildernes of Iudea,
2 Und sprach: Tut Buße, denn das Reich der Himmel hat sich genaht.
And said, Repent: for the kingdome of heauen is at hand.
3 Denn er ist es, von dem der Prophet Jesajas gesagt hat und gesprochen: Die Stimme eines, der schreit in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des Herrn und machet Seine Steige gerade.
For this is he of whome it is spoken by the Prophet Esaias, saying, The voyce of him that crieth in the wildernes, Prepare ye the way of the Lord: make his pathes straight.
4 Er aber, Johannes, hatte eine Kleidung von Kamelhaaren und einen ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden; seine Nahrung aber war Heuschrecken und wilder Honig.
And this Iohn had his garment of camels heare, and a girdle of a skinne about his loynes: his meate was also locusts and wilde hony.
5 Da zog denn Jerusalem und ganz Judäa und die ganze Umgegend des Jordan zu ihm hinaus.
Then went out to him Ierusalem and all Iudea, and all the region rounde about Iordan.
6 Und wurden von ihm im Jordan getauft, und bekannten ihre Sünden.
And they were baptized of him in Iordan, confessing their sinnes.
7 Da er aber viele der Pharisäer und Sadduzäer zu seiner Taufe kommen sah, sprach er zu ihnen: Ihr Otterngezüchte, wer hat euch denn gewiesen, vor dem zukünftigen Zorne zu fliehen?
Now when he sawe many of the Pharises, and of the Sadduces come to his baptisme, he said vnto them, O generations of vipers, who hath forewarned you to flee from the anger to come?
8 So tut den Früchte würdig der Buße.
Bring foorth therefore fruite worthy amendment of life.
9 Und meinet nicht, ihr dürfet in euch sagen: Wir haben Abraham zum Vater; denn ich sage euch: Gott kann Abraham aus diesen Steinen da Kinder erwecken.
And thinke not to say with your selues, We haue Abraham to our father: for I say vnto you, that God is able euen of these stones to raise vp children vnto Abraham.
10 Es liegt aber auch schon die Axt an der Wurzel der Bäume. Jeglicher Baum nun, der nicht gute Frucht trägt, wird abgehauen und ins Feuer geworfen.
And now also is the axe put to the roote of the trees: therfore euery tree which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewen downe, and cast into ye fire.
11 Ich taufe euch zwar im Wasser zur Buße; Der aber nach mir kommt, ist stärker, denn ich, Dem ich nicht genugsam bin, die Schuhe zu tragen, Der wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist und mit Feuer taufen.
In deede I baptize you with water to amendment of life, but he that commeth after me, is mightier then I, whose shoes I am not worthie to beare: hee will baptize you with the holy Ghost, and with fire.
12 Er hat die Wurfschaufel in Seiner Hand und wird Seine Tenne durch und durch reinigen und Seinen Weizen in die Scheune sammeln, die Spreu aber in unauslöschlichem Feuer verbrennen.
Which hath his fanne in his hand, and wil make cleane his floore, and gather his wheate into his garner, but will burne vp the chaffe with vnquenchable fire.
13 Alsdann kommt Jesus aus Galiläa herbei an den Jordan zu Johannes, um Sich von ihm taufen zu lassen.
Then came Iesus from Galile to Iordan vnto Iohn, to be baptized of him.
14 Johannes aber wehrte Ihm und sprach: Ich bedarf, daß ich von Dir getauft werde, und Du kommst zu mir?
But Iohn earnestly put him backe, saying, I haue neede to be baptized of thee, and commest thou to me?
15 Jesus aber antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Laß es jetzt zu, denn so gebührt es uns, alle Gerechtigkeit zu erfüllen. Da ließ er es Ihm zu.
Then Iesus answering, saide to him, Let be nowe: for thus it becommeth vs to fulfill all righteousnes. So he suffered him.
16 Und da Jesus getauft war, stieg Er alsbald herauf aus dem Wasser, und siehe, die Himmel taten sich Ihm auf, und Er sah den Geist Gottes wie eine Taube herabsteigen und auf Ihn kommen.
And Iesus when hee was baptized, came straight out of the water. And lo, the heaues were opened vnto him, and Iohn saw the Spirit of God descending like a doue, and lighting vpon him.
17 Und siehe, eine Stimme sprach aus den Himmeln: Dies ist Mein geliebter Sohn, an Dem Ich Wohlgefallen habe.
And loe, a voyce came from heauen, saying, This is my beloued Sonne, in whome I am well pleased.
