Maleachi 2

1 Und nun an euch, ihr Priester, ist dies Gebot:

And now to you, O ye priests, is this commandment:

2 Wenn ihr nicht hört und nicht zu Herzen nehmt, daß ihr Meinem Namen Herrlichkeit gebt, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen, so sende Ich wider euch die Verwünschung, und verfluche eure Segnungen, und Ich habe sie auch verflucht, weil ihr es nicht zu Herzen nehmt.

If ye will not hearken, If ye will not lay it to heart, To give glory to my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will send a curse upon you, And I will curse your blessings; Yea, I have cursed them already, Because ye do not lay it to heart.

3 Seht, Ich bedrohe wider euch den Samen und sprenge Unrat über eure Angesichter, denn Unrat eurer Feste, und man wird euch zu denselben wegnehmen.

Behold, I will rebuke your seed, And I will scatter dung in your faces, The dung of your solemn feasts, And ye shall be carried to it.

4 Und ihr werdet erkennen, daß Ich solches Gebot an euch gesandt, auf daß Mein Bund mit Levi sein sollte, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen.

And ye shall know that I have sent to you this commandment, That my covenant may remain with Levi, Saith Jehovah of hosts.

5 Mein Bund war mit ihm, der des Lebens und des Friedens, und Ich gab sie ihm zur Furcht, und er fürchtete Mich und war zerknirscht vor Meinem Namen.

My covenant was with him for life and peace, Which I gave to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, And was afraid before my name.

6 Das Gesetz der Wahrheit war in seinem Munde, und Verkehrtheit ward nicht gefunden auf seinen Lippen; in Frieden und Geradheit wandelte er mit Mir, und brachte viele von der Missetat zurück.

The law of truth was in his mouth, And unrighteousness was not found in his lips; He walked with me in truth and equity, And turned many away from iniquity.

7 Denn die Lippen des Priesters sollen der Erkenntnis hüten, und das Gesetz sollen sie von seinem Munde suchen; denn ein Bote Jehovahs der Heerscharen ist er.

For the lips of the priest should keep knowledge, And men should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

8 Ihr aber seid vom Weg abgewichen, habt viele im Gesetz straucheln lassen, ihr habt den Bund des Levi verdorben, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen.

But ye have departed from the way, Ye have caused many to stumble at the law, And ye have made void the covenant with Levi, Saith Jehovah of hosts.

9 Und auch Ich habe euch verächtlich und niedrig gemacht allem Volk, gleichwie ihr Meine Wege nicht haltet und die Person anseht im Gesetz.

Therefore will I also make you Despicable and base before all the people; According as ye have not kept my ways. But have had respect to persons in the law.

10 Haben wir alle nicht einen Vater? Hat nicht ein Gott uns geschaffen? Warum handeln wir treulos, der Mann an seinem Bruder, und entweihen unserer Väter Bund?

Have we not all one Father? Hath not one God created us? Why should we deal treacherously one against another, And profane the covenant made with our fathers?

11 Treulos geworden ist Jehudah, Greuliches geschah in Israel und in Jerusalem, denn Jehudah hat entweiht die Heiligkeit Jehovahs; denn er liebte und vermählte sich mit der Tochter eines ausländischen Gottes.

Judah hath dealt treacherously, And an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah hath profaned the holy people of Jehovah, which he loveth, And hath married the daughter of a strange god.

12 Ausrotten wird Jehovah den Mann, der das tut, der wacht und antwortet aus Jakobs Zelten, und der dem Jehovah der Heerscharen Speiseopfer herzubringt.

Jehovah will cut off the man that doeth this, Him that waketh and him that answereth, from the tents of Jacob, And him that bringeth an offering to Jehovah of hosts.

13 Und dies tut ihr zum zweiten: ihr bedeckt mit Tränen den Altar Jehovahs, mit Weinen und Jammer, daß Er nicht mehr zu dem Speiseopfer Sich wendet und Wohlgefälliges annimmt aus eurer Hand.

And this also ye do: Ye cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, With weeping and with groans, So that he no more hath regard to the offering, Nor receiveth it with good-will from your hand.

14 Und ihr sprecht: Warum? Darum, daß Jehovah Zeuge ist zwischen dir und dem Weibe deiner Jugend, der du treulos bist geworden, und doch ist sie deine Gefährtin und deines Bundes Weib.

Yet ye say, “Wherefore?” It is because Jehovah has been a witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, Against whom thou hast dealt unfaithfully, Although she was thy companion and thy covenanted wife.

15 Und das tat nicht einer, und der Überrest, in dem der Geist war. Und was dann der eine, der Gottes Samen suchte? Darum hütet euch in eurem Geist, daß keiner dem Weibe seiner Jugend treulos wird.

But did not He make one only? And yet had he a residue of the spirit; And wherefore one? He sought a godly race. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And be not unfaithful to the wife of thy youth!

16 Denn Er haßt das Entlassen, spricht Jehovah, der Gott Israels, und Gewalttat bedeckt seinen Anzug, spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen; darum hütet euch in eurem Geist, daß ihr nicht treulos handelt.

For I hate him that putteth away, Saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, And him that covereth his garment with violence, Saith Jehovah of hosts. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and be not unfaithful.

17 Ihr habt durch eure Worte ermüdet den Jehovah und ihr sprecht: Womit ermüdeten wir Ihn? Damit, daß ihr sagt: Jeder, der Böses tut, ist in Jehovahs Augen gut, und Er hat an ihnen Lust; oder: Wo ist der Gott des Gerichts?

Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words; Yet ye say, “Wherein have we wearied him?” In that ye say, “Every one of them that do evil Is good in the sight of Jehovah, And in them he hath delight”; Or, “Where is the God of judgment?”
