Lukas 12
1 Als das Gedränge zu Zehntausenden sich versammelte, so daß sie einander niedertraten, fing Er an zu Seinen Jünger zu sagen: Zum ersten nehmet euch in acht vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer, welcher ist Heuchelei.
Meanwhile the people had come streaming towards Him by tens of thousands, so that they were trampling one another under foot. And now He proceeded to say to His disciples first, "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, that is to say, beware of hypocrisy.
2 Nichts ist verdeckt, das nicht aufgedeckt werden, und verborgen, das nicht erkannt werden wird.
There is nothing that is covered up which will not be uncovered, nor hidden which will not become known.
3 Weshalb, was ihr im Finstern gesprochen habt, wird im Licht gehört werden. Und was ihr in den Kammern ins Ohr geredet habt, wird auf den Dächern gepredigt werden.
Whatever therefore you have said in the dark, will be heard in the light; and what you have whispered within closed doors will be proclaimed from the house-tops.
4 Ich aber sage euch, Meinen Freunden: Fürchtet euch nicht vor denen, die den Leib töten, nach dem aber nichts weiter haben, das sie tun können.
"But to you who are my friends I say, "'Be not afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do nothing further.
5 Ich will euch aber weisen, vor wem ihr euch zu fürchten habt. Fürchtet euch vor Dem, Der, nachdem Er getötet hat, die Gewalt hat, in die Hölle zu werfen. Ja, Ich sage euch, vor Dem fürchtet euch. (Geenna g1067)
I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who after killing has power to throw into Gehenna: yes, I say to you, fear him. (Geenna g1067)
6 Verkauft man nicht fünf Sperlinge um zwei Pfennige, und doch ist keiner derselben vor Gott vergessen.
Are not five sparrows sold for a penny? and yet not one of them is a thing forgotten in God's sight.
7 Aber auch die Haare eures Hauptes sind alle gezählt. Darum fürchtet euch nicht; ihr seid mehr wert, denn viele Sperlinge.
But the very hairs on your heads are all counted. Away with fear: you are more precious than a multitude of sparrows.'
8 Ich sage euch aber: Jeder, der Mich bekennt vor den Menschen, den wird auch des Menschen Sohn bekennen vor den Engeln Gottes.
"And I tell you that every man who shall have acknowledged me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.
9 Wer Mich aber vor den Menschen verleugnet hat, der wird auch vor den Engel Gottes verleugnet werden.
But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.
10 Und jeder, der ein Wort spricht wider des Menschen Sohn, dem soll es vergeben werden; wer aber wider den Heiligen Geist lästert, dem soll es nicht vergeben werden.
"Moreover every one who shall speak against the Son of Man, may obtain forgiveness; but he who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never obtain forgiveness.
11 Wenn sie euch aber vor die Synagogen und die Obrigkeiten und Gewalten führen, so sorget nicht, wie oder womit ihr euch verantworten oder was ihr sprechen sollet.
And when they are bringing you before synagogues and magistrates and governors, do not anxiously ponder the manner or matter of your defence, nor what you are to say;
12 Denn der Heilige Geist wird euch zur selben Stunde lehren, was ihr sprechen müßt.
for the Holy Spirit shall teach you at that very moment what you must say."
13 Einer aber aus dem Gedränge sagte zu Ihm: Lehrer, sage meinem Bruder, daß er das Erbe mit mir teilen soll.
Just then a man in the crowd appealed to Him. "Rabbi," he said, "tell my brother to give me a share of the inheritance."
14 Er aber sprach zu ihm: Mensch, wer hat Mich zum Rechtsprecher oder Erbteiler über euch gesetzt?
"Man," He replied, "who has constituted me a judge or arbitrator over you?"
15 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Sehet zu und hütet euch vor der Habsucht. Denn niemand hat das Leben in dem Überfluß aus seiner Habe.
And to the people He said, "Take care, be on your guard against all covetousness, for no one's life consists in the superabundance of his possessions."
16 Er aber sagte ihnen ein Gleichnis und sprach: Es war ein reicher Mann, dem hatte sein Acker wohl getragen.
And He spoke a parable to them. "A certain rich man's lands," He said, "yielded abundant crops,
17 Und er bedachte bei sich und sprach: Was soll ich tun? Denn ich habe nicht, wo ich meine Früchte hinsammle.
and he debated within himself, saying, "'What am I to do? for I have no place in which to store my crops.'
18 Und er sagte: Das will ich tun: ich will meine Scheunen abbrechen und größere bauen, und all meinen Ertrag und meine Güter allda sammeln,
"And he said to himself, "'This is what I will do: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and in them I will store up all my harvest and my wealth;
19 Und werde meiner Seele sagen: Seele, du hast nun viele Güter auf viele Jahre daliegen. Ruhe aus, iß, trink und sei fröhlich.
and I will say to my life, "'Life, you have ample possessions laid up for many years to come: take your ease, eat, drink, enjoy yourself.'
20 Gott aber sprach zu ihm: Du Tor, heute Nacht wird man deine Seele von dir abfordern. Wessen wird dann sein, das du bereitet hast?
"But God said to him, "'Foolish man, this night your life is demanded from you; and these preparations--for whom shall they be?'
21 So ist es mit dem, der sich Schätze sammelt und ist nicht reich in Gott.
"So is it with him who amasses treasure for himself, but has no riches in God."
22 Er sagte aber zu Seinen Jüngern: Darum sage Ich euch: Sorget nicht für eure Seele, was ihr essen, noch für euren Leib, was ihr antun sollet.
Then turning to His disciples He said, "For this reason I say to you, 'Dismiss all anxious care for your lives, inquiring what you are to eat, and for your bodies, what you are to put on.'
23 Die Seele ist mehr denn die Nahrung, und der Leib mehr denn die Kleidung.
For life is a greater gift than food, and the body is a greater gift than clothing.
24 Betrachtet die Raben; sie säen nicht, sie ernten nicht, sie haben keine Kammer noch Scheune, und Gott ernährt sie. Wieviel mehr seid ihr als das Gevögel.
Observe the ravens. They neither sow nor reap, and have neither store-chamber nor barn. And yet God feeds them. How far more precious are you than the birds!
25 Wer von euch aber kann mit seinem Sorgen seinem Wuchse eine Elle zusetzen?
And which of you is able by anxious thought to add a moment to his life?
26 So ihr denn das Geringste nicht könnt, warum sorgt ihr um das Übrige?
If then you are unable to do even a very little thing, why be over-anxious about other matters?
27 Betrachtet die Lilien, wie sie wachsen. Sie mühen sich nicht ab, noch spinnen sie! Aber Ich sage euch, daß auch Salomoh in all seiner Herrlichkeit nicht umkleidet war, wie deren eine.
Observe the lilies, how they grow. They neither labour nor spin. And yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was as beautifully dressed as one of these.
28 Wenn aber Gott das Gras, das heute auf dem Felde ist und morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, also ankleidet, wieviel mehr euch, ihr Kleingläubigen!
But if God so clothes the vegetation in the fields, that blooms to-day and to-morrow will be thrown into the oven, how much more certainly will He clothe you, you men of feeble faith!
29 So fraget denn auch ihr nicht, was ihr essen oder was ihr trinken werdet, und seid nicht im Zweifel.
"Therefore, do not be asking what you are to eat nor what you are to drink; and do not waver between hope and fear.
30 Nach solchem allem trachten die Heiden der Welt. Euer Vater aber weiß, daß ihr dessen bedürfet.
For though the nations of the world pursue these things, as for you, your Father knows that you need them.
31 Trachtet vielmehr nach dem Reich Gottes, so wird euch dies alles hinzugetan.
But make His Kingdom the object of your pursuit, and these things shall be given you in addition.
32 Fürchte dich nicht, du kleines Herdlein; denn es ist eures Vaters Wohlgefallen, euch das Reich zu geben.
"Dismiss your fears, little flock: your Father finds a pleasure in giving you the Kingdom.
33 Verkaufet, was ihr habt, und gebt Almosen. Machet euch Beutel, die nicht altern, einen Schatz in den Himmeln, der nicht versiegt, wo der Dieb nicht naht, noch die Motte verdirbt.
Sell your possessions and give alms. Provide yourselves with purses that will never wear out, a treasure inexhaustible in Heaven, where no thief can come nor moth consume.
34 Denn wo euer Schatz ist, da wird auch euer Herz sein.
For where your wealth is stored, there also will your heart be.
35 Eure Lenden seien umgürtet, und lasset eure Kerzen brennen.
"Have your girdles on, and let your lamps be alight;
36 Und seid ihr ähnlich den Menschen, die auf ihren Herrn warten, wenn er aufbricht von der Hochzeit, daß, wenn er kommt und anklopft, sie ihm alsbald auftun.
and be yourselves like men waiting for their master--on the look-out till he shall return from the wedding feast--that, when he comes and knocks, they may open the door instantly.
37 Selig selbige Knechte, die der Herr, so er kommt, wachend findet. Wahrlich, Ich sage euch, er umgürtet sich, läßt sie zu Tische gehen, und kommt herzu und bedient sie.
Blessed are those servants, whom their Master when He comes shall find on the watch. I tell you in solemn truth, that He will tie an apron round Him, and will bid them recline at table while He comes and waits on them.
38 Und so er in der zweiten Wache und in der dritten Wache kommt und findet sie also: selig sind selbige Knechte.
And whether it be in the second watch or in the third that He comes and finds them so, blessed are they.
39 Dieses aber erkennet: Wenn der Hausherr wüßte, zu welcher Stunde der Dieb käme, so bliebe er wach und ließe nicht in sein Haus einbrechen.
Of this be sure, that if the master of the house had known what time the robber was coming, he would have kept awake and not have allowed his house to be broken into.
40 So seid denn auch ihr bereit; denn des Menschen Sohn wird kommen zu einer Stunde, da ihr es nicht meinet.
Be you also ready, for at an hour when you are not expecting Him the Son of Man will come."
41 Petrus aber sprach zu Ihm: Herr, sagst Du dieses Gleichnis für uns, oder auch für alle?
"Master," said Peter, "are you addressing this parable to us, or to all alike?"
42 Der Herr aber sprach: Wer ist wohl der treue und kluge Haushalter, den der Herr über sein Gesinde setzen wird, auf daß er ihnen zur bestimmten Zeit den Mundbedarf gebe?
"Who, then," replied the Lord, "is the faithful and intelligent steward whom his Master will put in charge of His household to serve out their rations at the proper times?
43 Selig ist selbiger Knecht, den sein Herr findet also tun, wenn er kommt.
Blessed is that servant whom his Master when He comes shall find so doing.
44 In Wahrheit, Ich sage euch, er wird ihn über all seine Habe setzen.
I tell you truly that He will put him in authority over all His possessions.
45 Wenn aber selbiger Knecht in seinem Herzen spricht: Mein Herr verzieht zu kommen, und fängt an, die Knechte und die Mägde zu schlagen und zu essen und zu trinken und sich zu berauschen;
But if that servant should say in his heart, 'My Master is a long time in coming,' and should begin to beat the menservants and the maids, and to eat and drink, drinking even to excess;
46 So wird der Herr desselbigen Knechts kommen an einem Tage, an dem er es nicht erwartet, und zu einer Stunde, die er nicht weiß, und ihn zerscheitern und ihm sein Teil setzen mit den Ungetreuen.
that servant's Master will come on a day when he is not expecting Him and at an hour that he knows not of, and will punish him severely, and make him share the lot of the unfaithful.
47 Selbiger Knecht aber, der seines Herrn Willen wußte und sich nicht bereitete, und nicht nach seinem Willen tat, wird viel Streiche erleiden.
And that servant who has been told his Master's will and yet made no preparation and did not obey His will, will receive many lashes.
48 Der es aber nicht wußte, aber doch tat, was der Streiche wert ist, wird wenig Streiche leiden. Bei einem jeglichen aber, dem viel gegeben ist, von dem wird man viel suchen, und bei dem man viel niedergelegt hat, von dem wird man mehr fordern.
But he who had not been told it and yet did what deserved the scourge, will receive but few lashes. To whomsoever much has been given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been entrusted, of him a larger amount will be demanded.
49 Ich bin gekommen, ein Feuer auf die Erde zu werfen, und was wollte Ich, als daß es schon angezündet wäre.
"I came to throw fire upon the earth, and what is my desire? Oh that it were even now kindled!
50 Ich habe aber eine Taufe, mit der Ich getauft werde, und wie bin Ich bedrängt, bis sie vollendet ist!
But I have a baptism to undergo; and how am I pent up till it is accomplished!
51 Meinet ihr, Ich sei hergekommen, Frieden zu geben auf Erden? Nein, sage Ich euch, sondern Zerteilung.
Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? No, I tell you that I came to bring dissension.
52 Von nun an werden fünf in einem Hause zerteilt sein, drei wider zwei, und zwei wider drei.
For from this time there will be in one house five persons split into parties. Three will form a party against two and two will form a party against three;
53 Der Vater wird entzweit sein mit dem Sohn und der Sohn mit dem Vater, die Mutter mit der Tochter und die Tochter mit der Mutter, die Schwieger mit ihrer Schnur und die Schnur mit ihrer Schwieger.
father against son and son against father; mother attacking daughter and daughter her mother, mother-in-law her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law her mother-in-law."
54 Er sprach aber auch zu dem Gedränge: Wenn ihr eine Wolke vom Niedergang aufgehen sehet, so saget ihr alsbald: Es kommt ein Platzregen! Und es geschieht also.
Then He said to the people also, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, 'There is to be a shower;' and it comes to pass.
55 Und wenn der Mittagswind weht, saget ihr: Es wird eine Hitze! Und es geschieht.
And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, 'It will be burning hot;' and it comes to pass.
56 Ihr Heuchler, das Gesichte der Erde und des Himmel wisset ihr zu prüfen; wie aber ist es, daß ihr diese Zeit nicht prüfet?
Vain pretenders! You know how to read the aspect of earth and sky. How is it you cannot read this present time?
57 Warum richtet ihr von euch selbst aus nicht, was gerecht ist?
"Why, too, do you not of yourselves arrive at just conclusions?
58 Denn wenn du mit deinem Widersacher vor die Obrigkeit hingehst, so befleißige dich, noch auf dem Wege von ihm loszuwerden, auf daß er dich nicht vor den Richter hinunterschleppe, und der Richter dich dem Gerichtsdiener übergebe und der Gerichtsdiener dich ins Gefängnis werfe.
For when, with your opponent, you are going before the magistrate, on the way take pains to get out of his power; for fear that, if he should drag you before the judge, the judge may hand you over to the officer of the court, and the officer lodge you in prison.
59 Ich sage dir: Du wirst von dannen nicht herauskommen, bis daß du auch den letzten Heller bezahlst hast.
Never, I tell you, will you get free till you have paid the last farthing."
