3 Mose 11
1 Und Jehovah redete zu Mose und zu Aharon und sprach zu ihnen:
Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me,
2 Redet zu den Söhnen Israels und sprechet: Das sind die Tiere, die ihr essen dürfet von allem Vieh auf Erden;
“Tell the Israeli people that [this is what Yahweh says]: From all the animals that live on the land, these are the ones that you are permitted to eat:
3 Alles, was einen durchbrochenen Huf, einen in Klauen gespaltenen Huf hat und wiederkäut vom Vieh, das dürft ihr essen.
The ones that have hooves that are completely split and that (chew their cuds/bring their food up from their stomachs to chew it again).
4 Doch sollt ihr nicht essen von denen, die wiederkäuen und denen mit durchbrochenem Huf: Das Kamel; denn es wiederkäut zwar, hat aber keinen durchbrochenen Huf. Unrein sei es euch.
There are some animals that chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, and some animals that have split hooves but do not chew their cuds. You must not eat any of those animals. [For example], camels chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.
5 Und das Kaninchen; denn es ist wiederkäuend und hat keinen durchbrochenen Huf. Unrein sei es euch.
Rock badgers chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.
6 Und den Hasen; denn er wiederkäut und hat keinen durchbrochenen Huf. Unrein sei er euch!
Rabbits chew their cuds but do not have split hooves, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.
7 Und das Schwein; denn es hat einen durchbrochenen Huf und die Klauen gespalten, aber es wiederkäut nicht. Unrein sei es euch!
Pigs have completely split hooves but they do not chew their cuds, so they are unacceptable for you to eat.
8 Von ihrem Fleisch sollt ihr nicht essen und ihr Aas nicht berühren. Unrein seien sie euch!
All of those animals are unacceptable for you, so you must not eat their meat or even touch their carcasses.
9 Und das dürfet ihr essen von allem, was im Wasser ist: Alles, was Flossen und Schuppen hat im Wasser, in den Meeren und in den Bächen, das dürfet ihr essen.
From all the creatures that live in the oceans and the streams, you are permitted to eat any that have fins and scales.
10 Aber alles, was keine Flosse und Schuppe hat in Meeren und Bächen, von allem, das im Wasser wimmelt und von aller lebendigen Seele im Wasser, ein Abscheu sei es euch!
But you must detest [and not eat] those that do not have fins and scales. That includes ones that are very small.
11 Zum Abscheu sollen sie euch sein. Von ihrem Fleisch sollt ihr nicht essen, und ihr Aas sei euch ein Abscheu.
You must despise them, and you must not eat their meat, and you must detest their carcasses.
12 Alles, was nicht Flosse und Schuppe hat im Wasser, soll euch zum Abscheu sein.
You must detest everything that lives in the water that does not have fins and scales.
13 Und diese sollt ihr vom Gevögel verabscheuen. Sie sollen nicht gegessen werden, zum Abscheu sein: Der Adler und der Seeadler und der Lämmergeier;
There are some birds that you must detest [and not eat]. They include eagles, bearded vultures, black vultures,
14 Und der Weihe und der Falke nach seiner Art;
kites, any kind of falcon/buzzard,
15 Alle Raben nach ihren Arten;
any kind of raven,
16 Und das Käuzlein und der Strauß und die Möwe und der Habicht nach seiner Art;
horned owls, screech owls, seagulls, any kind of hawk,
17 Und der Uhu und der Taucher und die Eule.
small owls, cormorants, large owls,
18 Und die Dohle und der Pelikan und der Aasgeier.
white owls, desert owls, vultures that eat dead animals,
19 Und der Storch, der Reiher nach seiner Art, und der Wiedehopf und die Fledermaus.
storks, any kind of heron, hoopoes, and bats.
20 Alles Kriechtier mit Flügeln, das auf Vieren geht, soll euch zum Abscheu sein.
You must detest [and not eat] flying insects that [sometimes] walk on the ground [MTY].
21 Nur das sollt ihr essen von allem geflügelten Kriechtier, das auf Vieren geht, das Schenkel über den Füßen hat, um damit auf der Erde zu hüpfen.
But you are permitted to eat creatures with wings that sometimes walk on the ground if they have jointed legs for hopping around.
22 Diese möget ihr davon essen: Die Heu- schrecke nach ihrer Art, den Solam nach seiner Art und den Chargol nach seiner Art, und den Chagab nach seiner Art.
They include locusts, crickets, and grasshoppers.
23 Und alles andere geflügelte Kriechtier mit vier Füßen soll euch ein Abscheu sein.
But you must detest [and not eat] other insects with wings that have four legs.
24 Und mit diesen verunreinigt ihr euch. Wer ihr Aas berührt, ist bis zum Abend unrein.
‘There are certain creatures that if you touch their carcasses you will become defiled. Anyone who touches their carcasses must not touch other people until that evening.
25 Und jeder, der von ihrem Aase trägt, soll seine Kleider waschen, und ist unrein bis zum Abend.
Anyone who picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes and not touch other people until that evening.
26 Alles Vieh, das einen durchbrochenen Huf hat und den Huf nicht spaltet, und nicht wiederkäut, soll unrein für euch sein. Wer immer es berührt, ist unrein.
‘The animals whose carcasses you must not touch are those that have hooves that are not completely divided or animals that do not chew their cuds. Anyone who touches the carcasses of any of those animals becomes (defiled/unacceptable to me).
27 Und alles, was auf seinen Tatzen geht unter allem Wild, das auf Vieren geht, ist unrein für euch, ein jeder, der ihr Aas anrührt, ist unrein bis zum Abend.
From all the animals that walk on the ground, you must not touch the carcasses of those that have paws to walk on. Anyone who touches one of their carcasses must not touch other people until that evening.
28 Und wer ihr Aas trägt, soll seine Kleider waschen und ist unrein bis zum Abend. Unrein seien sie euch.
Anyone who picks up one of their carcasses must wash his clothes and not touch other people until that evening, because touching their carcasses (defiles you/causes you to become unacceptable to me).
29 Und das sei euch unrein unter dem Kriechtier, das auf dem Lande wimmelt: Das Wiesel und die Maus und die gelbe Eidechse nach ihrer Art.
‘From all the animals that walk on the ground, these are the ones that (defile you/cause you to become unacceptable to me) [if you touch them]: Moles, rats, any kind of lizard,
30 Und die Feldmaus und das Chamäleon und die Schildkröte und die Schnecke und der Maulwurf.
geckos, skinks, and chameleons.
31 Diese seien euch unrein unter allem Kriechtier. Wer sie anrührt, wenn sie tot sind, ist unrein bis zum Abend.
Those creatures that scurry across the ground (defile you/cause you to become unacceptable to me); anyone who touches one of their carcasses must not touch other people until the evening.
32 Und alles, worauf ein solches unter ihnen fällt, wenn es tot ist, ist unrein, irgendein hölzernes Gerät oder ein Kleid oder Fell oder Sack, jegliches Gerät, mit dem man eine Arbeit tut, soll ins Wasser hineingebracht werden und ist unrein bis zum Abend, und dann ist es rein.
When one of those creatures dies and falls on something, the thing that it falls on, whatever it is used for, will become (defiled/unacceptable to me), whether it is made of wood or cloth or the hide of some animal or from rough cloth. You must put it in water. Then you must not use it until that evening.
33 Und jegliches irdene Gefäß, in dessen Mitte derselben eines fällt, wird unrein, alles, was in dessen Mitte ist; und ihr sollt es zerbrechen.
If one of them falls into a clay pot, everything in it becomes defiled, and you must break that pot into pieces.
34 Jegliche Speise, die gegessen wird, über die solches Wasser kommt, ist unrein, und alles Getränk, das aus irgend solchem Gefäß getrunken wird, ist unrein.
If you pour water from that pot on any food, you must not eat that food. And you must not drink any water from that pot.
35 Und alles, worauf von ihrem Aase fällt ist unrein. Der Ofen oder Herd werde eingerissen; sie sind unrein, und sollen euch unrein sein.
Anything that one of the carcasses of those creatures falls on becomes (defiled/unacceptable to me); even if it falls on an oven or a cooking pot, anything that it falls on must be broken into pieces. It becomes unacceptable to me and you must not use it again.
36 Nur der Brunnquell und die Grube, in denen sich Wasser sammelt, sollen rein sein; was aber ihr Aas berührt, soll unrein sein.
If one of their carcasses falls into a spring or a pit for storing water, the water may still be drunk, but anyone who touches one of those carcasses becomes unacceptable to me.
37 Und so von ihrem Aas auf irgendwelchen Saatsamen fällt, der gesät werden soll, so ist er rein;
If one of those carcasses falls on seeds that are to be planted, those seeds are still acceptable to be planted.
38 Wird aber Wasser auf den Samen getan, und es fällt von ihrem Aas darauf, so ist es unrein für euch.
But if water has been put on the seeds and then a carcass falls on them, the seeds must be thrown away.
39 Und so von dem Vieh, das euch zur Speise ist, eines stirbt, so ist der, welcher sein Aas berührt, unrein bis zum Abend.
‘If an animal [whose meat] you are permitted to eat dies, anyone who touches its carcass must not touch other people until that evening.
40 Und wer von seinem Aase ißt, soll seine Kleider waschen, und unrein sein bis zum Abend, und wer sein Aas trägt, soll seine Kleider waschen und ist unrein bis zum Abend.
Anyone who eats some meat from that carcass must wash his clothes, and then he must not touch anyone until that evening.
41 Und alles Gewimmel, das auf der Erde wimmelt, ist ein Abscheu; es soll nicht gegessen werden.
‘All creatures that scurry across the ground, including those that move on their bellies and those that crawl, are detestable, and they must not be eaten.
42 Alles, was auf dem Bauche geht, und alles, was auf vieren und bis zu dem, das auf mehr Füßen geht, von allem Gewimmel, das auf der Erde wimmelt, sollt ihr nicht essen; denn sie sind ein Abscheu.
43 Ihr sollt eure Seele nicht abscheulich machen durch irgendwelches Gewimmel, das da wimmelt, und euch damit nicht verunreinigen, daß ihr dadurch unrein werdet;
Do not (defile yourselves/cause you to become unacceptable to me) by [eating] any of those creatures [DOU].
44 Denn Ich bin Jehovah, euer Gott, und ihr sollt euch heiligen, auf daß ihr heilig seid; denn Ich bin heilig; und sollt eure Seele nicht verunreinigen mit irgendwelchem Gewimmel, das auf der Erde kriecht.
I am Yahweh your God, and I am holy, so you must consecrate yourselves and be holy. You must avoid eating things that cause you to be unacceptable to me. Do not cause yourselves to become unacceptable to me by eating creatures that scurry across the ground.
45 Denn Ich bin Jehovah, Der euch aus Ägyptenland heraufgebracht, auf daß Ich euer Gott sei. So seid denn heilig, denn Ich bin heilig.
I am Yahweh, the one who freed you from [being slaves in] Egypt, in order to be your God. Therefore, because I am holy, you must be holy.
46 Das ist das Gesetz vom Vieh und Gevögel und allen lebendigen Seelen, die sich im Wasser regen, und allen Seelen, die auf der Erde wimmeln;
'Those are the regulations concerning animals and birds, all the living creatures that live in water or scurry across the ground.
47 Damit ihr scheidet zwischen Unreinem und zwischen Reinem, und zwischen dem Tiere, das ihr essen und dem Tier, das ihr nicht essen sollt.
You must learn what things [I say] are acceptable to me and what things are not, and learn what things you are permitted to eat and what things you are not permitted to eat.’”
