Richter 9
1 Und Abimelech, Jerubbaals Sohn, ging nach Schechem zu den Brüdern seiner Mutter und redete zu ihnen und zu der ganzen Familie des Hauses des Vaters seiner Mutter und sagte:
And he went Abimelech [the] son of Jerub-Baal Shechem towards to [the] brothers of mother his and he spoke to them and to all [the] clan of [the] house of [the] father of mother his saying.
2 Redet doch vor den Ohren aller Bürger Schechems: Was ist besser für euch, daß über euch herrschen siebzig Männer, alle Söhne Jerubbaals, oder daß ein Mann über euch herrscht; und gedenket, daß ich bin euer Gebein und euer Fleisch.
Speak please in [the] ears of all [the] citizens of Shechem what? [is] good for you ¿ to rule over you seventy man all [the] sons of Jerub-Baal or? to rule over you a man one and you will remember that [am] bone your and flesh your I.
3 Und die Brüder seiner Mutter redeten über ihn vor den Ohren aller Bürger Schechems alle diese Worte; und ihr Herz neigte sich dem Abimelech nach; denn sie sagten: Er ist unser Bruder;
And they spoke [the] brothers of mother his on him in [the] ears of all [the] citizens of Shechem all the words these and it turned aside heart their after Abimelech for they said [is] brother our he.
4 Und gaben ihm siebzig Silberlinge aus dem Hause des Baal-Berith; und Abimelech dingte damit lose leichtfertige Männer, die ihm nachfolgten.
And they gave to him seventy silver (from [the] house of Baal-*L(abh)*) Berith and he hired for them Abimelech men unprincipled and undisciplined and they went after him.
5 Und er kam in das Haus seines Vaters nach Ophrath und erwürgte seine Brüder, die siebzig Mann, Söhne Jerubbaals, auf einem Stein; aber Jotham, Jerubbaals jüngster Sohn blieb übrig, denn er hatte sich versteckt.
And he went [the] house of father his Ophrah towards and he killed brothers his [the] sons of Jerub-Baal (seventy *L(abh)*) man on stone one and he was left Jotham [the] son of Jerub-Baal young for he hid himself.
6 Und es sammelten sich alle Bürger Schechems und das ganze Haus Millo und gingen und machten Abimelech zum König bei der Eiche der Denksäule in Schechem.
And they gathered all [the] citizens of Shechem and all Beth Millo and they went and they made king Abimelech to king near [the] great tree set up which [was] in Shechem.
7 Und man sagte dem Jotham an, und er ging hin und stand auf der Spitze des Berges Gerissim und erhob seine Stimme und rief und sprach zu ihnen: Höret auf mich, Bürger von Schechem, auf daß Gott auf euch höre.
And people told to Jotham and he went and he stood on [the] top of [the] mountain of Gerizim and he lifted up voice his and he called out and he said to them listen to me O citizens of Shechem so he may listen to you God.
8 Die Bäume gingen einen König über sich zu salben und sprachen zum Ölbaum: Sei König über uns!
Certainly they went the trees to anoint over them a king and they said to the olive tree (reign! *Q(k)*) over us.
9 Und der Ölbaum sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich aufgeben meine Fettigkeit, die an mir Gott und die Menschen verherrlichen, und hingehen, um über den Bäumen zu schwanken?
And it said to them the olive tree ¿ will I cease fatness my which by me people honor gods and men and will I go to sway over the trees.
10 Und die Bäume sprachen zum Feigenbaum: Gehe du, und sei König über uns!
And they said the trees to the fig tree come you reign over us.
11 Und der Feigenbaum sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich aufgeben meine Süßigkeit und meinen guten Ertrag, um hinzugehen und über den Bäumen zu schwanken?
And it said to them the fig tree ¿ will I cease sweetness my and fruit my good and will I go to sway over the trees.
12 Und die Bäume sprachen zu dem Weinstock: Gehe du, und sei König über uns.
And they said the trees to the vine come you (reign *Q(k)*) over us.
13 Und der Weinstock sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich aufgeben meinen Most, der Gott und die Menschen fröhlich macht, und gehen, um über den Bäumen zu schwanken?
And it said to them the vine ¿ will I cease new wine my which makes glad gods and men and will I go to sway over the trees.
14 Und alle Bäume sprachen zum Dornbusch: Gehe du, und sei König über uns!
And they said all the trees to the thorn bush come you reign over us.
15 Und der Dornbusch sprach zu den Bäumen: Wenn ihr in Wahrheit mich über euch zum König salbet, so kommt, verlaßt euch auf meinen Schatten; und wo nicht, so gehe Feuer von dem Dornbusch aus und verzehre die Zedern Libanons.
And it said the thorn bush to the trees if in truth you [are] anointing me to king over you come take refuge in shade my and if not let it go out a fire from the thorn bush and let it consume [the] cedars of Lebanon.
16 Und nun, wenn ihr in Treue und Tadellosigkeit gehandelt, daß ihr den Abimelech zum Könige gemacht, und wenn ihr an dem Jerubbaal und an seinem Hause Gutes habt getan, und wenn ihr nach seiner Hände Wohltun ihm getan,
And now if in faithfulness and in integrity you have acted and you have made king Abimelech and if good you have done with Jerub-Baal and with house his and if according to [the] dealing of hands his you have done to him.
17 Dafür, daß mein Vater für euch gestritten und sein Leben von sich geworfen und euch errettet hat aus Midjans Hand;
That he fought father my on you and he threw life his from in front and he delivered you from [the] hand of Midian.
18 Und ihr seid heute aufgestanden wider meines Vaters Haus, und habt seine Söhne, siebzig Männer, auf einem Stein erwürgt, und machet seiner Magd Sohn, Abimelech, zum König über Schechems Bürger, weil er euer Bruder ist;
And you you have risen up on [the] house of father my this day and you have killed sons his seventy man on stone one and you have made king Abimelech [the] son of female slave his over [the] citizens of Shechem for [is] brother your he.
19 Und wenn ihr mit Treue und Tadellosigkeit an Jerubbaal und an seinem Haus heute habt gehandelt, so seid fröhlich über Abimelech und auch er sei fröhlich über euch!
And if in faithfulness and in integrity you have acted with Jerub-Baal and with house his the day this rejoice in Abimelech so he may rejoice also he in you.
20 Wo aber nicht, so gehe Feuer von Abimelech aus und fresse Schechems Bürger und Millos Haus! Und es gehe Feuer aus von den Bürgern Schechems und von Millos Haus und fresse den Abimelech.
And if not let it go out a fire from Abimelech and let it consume [the] citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo and let it go out a fire from [the] citizens of Shechem and from Beth Millo and let it consume Abimelech.
21 Und Jotham floh und entwich und ging nach Beer und wohnte da wegen seines Bruders Abimelech.
And he fled Jotham and he ran away and he went Beer towards and he dwelt there [away] from before Abimelech brother his.
22 Und Abimelech war drei Jahre der Oberste über Israel.
And he ruled Abimelech over Israel three years.
23 Und Gott sandte einen bösen Geist zwischen Abimelech und Schechems Bürger, daß Schechems Bürger gegen Abimelech treulos handelten;
And he sent God a spirit evil between Abimelech and between [the] citizens of Shechem and they dealt treacherously [the] citizens of Shechem with Abimelech.
24 Auf daß die Gewalttat an den siebzig Söhnen Jerubbaals über sie komme, und man ihr Blut lege auf Abimelech, ihren Bruder, der sie erwürgte, und auf Schechems Bürger, die seine Hände stärkten, seine Brüder zu erwürgen.
To come [the] violence of seventy [the] sons of Jerub-Baal and blood their to put on Abimelech brother their who he killed them and on [the] citizens of Shechem who they strengthened hands his to kill brothers his.
25 Und die Bürger Schechems legten wider ihn einen Hinterhalt auf die Spitzen der Berge und plünderten jeden aus, der bei ihnen auf dem Wege vorüberzog, und es ward Abimelech angesagt.
And they set to him [the] citizens of Shechem ambushers on [the] tops of the mountains and they robbed every [one] who he passed by on them on the road and it was told to Abimelech.
26 Und es kam Gaal, Ebeds Sohn, und seine Brüder und zogen hinüber nach Schechem, und die Bürger Schechems vertrauten auf ihn;
And he came Gaal [the] son of Ebed and brothers his and they passed on in Shechem and they trusted in him [the] citizens of Shechem.
27 Und sie gingen hinaus auf das Feld, lasen ihre Weinberge ab, und kelterten, und machten Loblieder und gingen hinein in das Haus ihres Gottes und aßen und tranken und fluchten auf Abimelech.
And they went out the field and they gathered grapes vineyards their and they trod [them] and they made rejoicings and they went [the] house of god their and they ate and they drank and they cursed Abimelech.
28 Und Gaal, Ebeds Sohn, sprach: Wer ist Abimelech und wer Schechem, daß wir ihm dienen? Ist er nicht Jerubbaals Sohn und Sebul sein Amtsmann? Dienet den Männern von Chamor, Schechems Vater; aber warum sollen wir ihm dienen?
And he said - Gaal [the] son of Ebed who? [is] Abimelech and who? [is] Shechem that we will serve him ¿ not [is he] [the] son of Jerub-Baal and [is] Zebul? deputy his serve [the] men of Hamor [the] father of Shechem and why? will we serve him we.
29 O, wer gäbe doch dies Volk in meine Hand, dann wollte ich Abimelech wegtun! Und zu Abimelech sprach er: Mehre dein Heer und zieh aus!
And who? will he give the people this in hand my and I will remove Abimelech and he said of Abimelech make numerous army your and come out!
30 Und Sebul, der Oberste der Stadt, hörte die Worte Gaals, des Sohnes Ebeds, und sein Zorn entbrannte;
And he heard Zebul [the] official of the city [the] words of Gaal [the] son of Ebed and it burned anger his.
31 Und er sandte Boten an Abimelech insgeheim und sagte: Siehe, Gaal, der Sohn Ebeds, und seine Brüder sind nach Schechem gekommen, und siehe, sie drängen die Stadt wider dich auf!
And he sent messengers to Abimelech in treachery saying here! Gaal [the] son of Ebed and brothers his [are] coming Shechem towards and here they [are] shutting up the city on you.
32 Und nun mache dich auf bei der Nacht, du und das Volk, das bei dir ist, und lege einen Hinterhalt im Felde.
And therefore arise night you and the people which [is] with you and lie in wait in the field.
33 Und es soll sein, am Morgen, wenn die Sonne aufgeht, stehe früh auf und rücke wider die Stadt und siehe, er und das Volk, das mit ihm ist, gehen hinaus gegen dich, und dann tue mit ihnen, wie es deine Hand findet.
And it will be in the morning when rises the sun you will rise early and you will make a raid on the city and there! he and the people which [is] with him [are] going out against you and you will do to him just as it will find hand your.
34 Und Abimelech machte sich auf in der Nacht und alles Volk, das mit ihm war, und sie legten sich wider Schechem mit vier Haufen in Hinterhalt.
And he arose Abimelech and all the people which [was] with him night and they lay in wait on Shechem four companies.
35 Und Gaal, der Sohn Ebeds, kam heraus und stand am Eingang des Tores der Stadt; und Abimelech und das Volk mit ihm machte sich auf aus dem Hinterhalt.
And he went out Gaal [the] son of Ebed and he stood [the] entrance of [the] gate of the city and he arose Abimelech and the people which [was] with him from the ambush.
36 Und Gaal sah das Volk und sprach zu Sebul: Siehe, Volk kommt von den Spitzen der Berge herab. Und Sebul sagte zu ihm: Den Schatten der Berge siehst du für Männer an.
And he saw Gaal the people and he said to Zebul there! a people [is] coming down from [the] tops of the mountains and he said to him Zebul [the] shadow of the mountains you [are] seeing like men.
37 Und Gaal redete wiederum und sprach: Siehe, von der Anhöhe des Landes dort kommt Volk herab, und ein Haufe kommt von dem Weg der Eiche der Wolkendeuter.
And he repeated again Gaal to speak and he said there! a people [are] coming down from with [the] center of the land and a company one [is] coming from [the] direction of [the] great tree of [the] soothsayer.
38 Und Sebul sprach zu ihm: Wo ist denn dein Maul, daß du sprachst: Wer ist der Abimelech, daß wir ihm dienen sollen? Ist dies nicht das Volk, das du verschmäht hast? Gehe nun aus und streite mit ihm!
And he said to him Zebul where? then [is] mouth your O [you] who you said who? [is] Abimelech that we will serve him ¿ not [is] this the people which you rejected it go out please now and fight against him.
39 Und Gaal zog aus vor den Bürgern von Schechem und stritt wider Abimelech.
And he went out Gaal before [the] citizens of Shechem and he fought against Abimelech.
40 Und Abimelech setzte ihm nach, und er floh vor ihm; und es fielen viele Erschlagene bis zum Eingang des Tores.
And he pursued him Abimelech and he fled from before him and they fell [those] fatally wounded many to [the] entrance of the gate.
41 Und Abimelech blieb in Arumah; und Sebul vertrieb Gaal und seine Brüder, da sie nicht in Schechem wohnen durften.
And he dwelt Abimelech at Arumah and he drove out Zebul Gaal and brothers his from dwelling at Shechem.
42 Und es geschah am morgenden Tage, daß das Volk hinausging ins Feld, und es ward dem Abimelech angesagt.
And it was from [the] next day and it went out the people the field and people told to Abimelech.
43 Und er nahm das Volk und teilte es in drei Haufen und legte sich auf dem Felde in Hinterhalt. Und er sah, und siehe, das Volk ging aus von der Stadt. Und er machte sich auf wider sie und schlug sie.
And he took the people and he divided them into three companies and he lay in wait in the field and he saw and there! the people [was] going out from the city and he rose up on them and he struck down them.
44 Und Abimelech und die Haufen, die mit ihm waren, rückten aus und standen am Eingang des Tores der Stadt, und zwei Haufen rückten aus wider alle, die auf dem Felde waren und schlugen sie.
And Abimelech and the companies which [were] with him they made a raid and they stood [the] entrance of [the] gate of the city and [the] two the companies they made a raid on all [those] who [were] in the field and they struck down them.
45 Den ganzen Tag stritt Abimelech wider die Stadt, und er gewann die Stadt, und er erwürgte das Volk darin und riß die Stadt nieder und besäte sie mit Salz.
And Abimelech [was] fighting against the city all the day that and he captured the city and the people which [was] in it he killed and he pulled down the city and he sowed it salt.
46 Und alle Bürger in dem Turme von Schechem hörten es, und sie gingen in die Feste des Hauses des Gottes Berith.
And they heard all [the] citizens of [the] tower of Shechem and they went into [the] underground chamber of [the] house of El-Berith.
47 Und dem Abimelech wurde angesagt, daß alle Bürger des Turmes Schechems zusammengekommen seien;
And it was told to Abimelech that they had gathered together all [the] citizens of [the] tower of Shechem.
48 Und Abimelech zog hinauf auf den Berg Zalmon, er und alles Volk, das mit ihm war; und Abimelech nahm die Axt in seine Hand und hieb einen Baumast ab und hob ihn auf und legte ihn auf seine Schulter und sprach zu dem Volke, das mit ihm war: Was ihr mich habt tun sehen, das tut eilends wie ich.
And he went up Abimelech [the] mountain of Zalmon he and all the people which [was] with him and he took Abimelech the axes in hand his and he cut off a branch of wood and he lifted up it and he put [it] on shoulder his and he said to the people which [was] with him whatever you have seen I have done hurry do like me.
49 Und es hieb auch alles Volk, jeder Mann seinen Ast ab, und sie gingen hinter Abimelech her und legten selben an die Feste und zündeten über ihnen ein Feuer an, und es starben auch alle Männer des Turmes Schechems, über tausend, Mann und Weib.
And they cut off also all the people everyone own branch his and they went after Abimelech and they put [them] over the underground chamber and they set on fire over them the underground chamber with fire and they died also all [the] men of [the] tower of Shechem about a thousand man and woman.
50 Und Abimelech ging nach Thebez und lagerte wider Thebez und eroberte es.
And he went Abimelech to Thebez and he encamped at Thebez and he captured it.
51 Und es war ein starker Turm in der Mitte der Stadt, und dahin flohen alle Männer und Weiber und alle Bürger der Stadt, und schlossen hinter sich zu und stiegen auf das Dach des Turmes hinauf.
And a tower of strength it was in [the] middle of the city and they fled there towards all the men and the women and all [the] citizens of the city and they shut [the] door behind them and they went up on [the] roof of the tower.
52 Und Abimelech kam bis an den Turm und stritt wider ihn, und er trat hinzu bis an den Eingang des Turmes, daß er ihn mit Feuer verbrennete.
And he came Abimelech to the tower and he fought against it and he drew near to [the] entrance of the tower to burn it with fire.
53 Und ein Weib warf dem Abimelech einen oberen Mühlstein auf den Kopf und zerbrach ihm den Schädel.
And she threw a woman one a mill-stone of an upper mill-stone on [the] head of Abimelech and it crushed skull his.
54 Und er rief eilends den Jungen, der ihm die Waffen trug, und sprach zu ihm: Zieh dein Schwert heraus und töte mich, daß sie nicht von mir sagen: Ein Weib hat ihn erwürgt. Und der Junge durchstach ihn, und er starb.
And he called quickly to the young man - [who] carried armor his and he said to him draw sword your and kill me lest people should say of me a woman she killed him and he pierced through him young man his and he died.
55 Und die Männer Israels sahen, daß Abimelech tot war, und sie gingen jeder an seinen Ort.
And they saw [the] man of Israel that he was dead Abimelech and they went everyone to own place his.
56 So ließ zurückkommen Gott dem Abimelech das Böse, das er an seinem Vater tat, daß er seine siebzig Brüder erwürgte.
And he repaid God [the] evil of Abimelech which he had done to father his by killing seventy brothers his.
57 Und Gott ließ alles Böse der Männer von Schechem zurückkommen auf ihr Haupt. Und der Fluch Jothams, des Sohnes Jerubbaals, kam über sie.
And all [the] evil of [the] men of Shechem he repaid God on head their and it came to them [the] curse of Jotham [the] son of Jerub-Baal.
