1 Und ein Engel Jehovahs stieg von Gilgal herauf nach Bochim und sprach: Ich habe euch aus Ägypten heraufgeführt und euch in das Land gebracht, das Ich euren Vätern geschworen hatte und gesprochen: Ich will Meinen Bund mit euch nicht zunichte machen ewiglich.

13 Und sie verließen Jehovah und dienten Baal und Aschtharoth.

14 Und es entbrannte der Zorn Jehovahs wider Israel, und Er gab sie in die Hand von Plünderern, und sie plünderten sie, und Er verkaufte sie in die Hand ihrer Feinde ringsum. Und sie vermochten nicht mehr vor ihren Feinden zu bestehen.

15 Überall, wo sie auszogen, war die Hand Jehovahs wider sie zum Bösen, wie Jehovah geredet und wie Jehovah ihnen geschworen hatte. Und sie wurden sehr bedrängt.

17 Aber auf die Richter hörten sie nicht, sondern buhlten anderen Göttern nach und beteten sie an, und eilends wichen sie ab von dem Wege, den ihre Väter gegangen waren, daß sie auf die Gebote Jehovahs hörten. Sie taten nicht also.

18 Und wenn Jehovah für sie Richter aufstehen ließ, so war Jehovah mit dem Richter, und Er rettete sie aus der Hand ihrer Feinde alle die Tage des Richters; denn es jammerte Jehovah ob ihrem Stöhnen ob denen, so sie bedrückten und zwangen.

19 Und es geschah, wenn der Richter starb, so wandten sie sich zurück und taten noch Verderblicheres, als ihre Väter, daß sie anderen Göttern nachgingen, ihnen zu dienen und sie anzubeten, und ließen nichts fallen von ihren Handlungen und von ihrem harten Wege.

20 Und es entbrannte der Zorn Jehovahs wider Israel und Er sprach: Weil diese Völkerschaft Meinen Bund überschritten, den Ich ihren Vätern geboten, und nicht auf Meine Stimme gehört haben:
Na ka mura te riri o Ihowa ki a Iharaira, a ka mea ia, Na, kua takahia e tenei iwi taku kawenata i whakahaua e ahau ki o ratou matua; kihai ano i rongo ki toku reo;
21 So werde Ich keinen Mann mehr vor ihnen austreiben von den Völkerschaften, die Joschua gelassen, da er starb,

22 Auf daß Ich Israel durch sie versuche, ob sie den Weg Jehovahs halten, um darauf zu wandeln, wie ihre Väter daran hielten, oder nicht.

23 Darum ließ Jehovah diese Völkerschaften bleiben, daß Er sie nicht eilends austrieb und nicht in Joschuas Hand gab.
