Josua 9
1 Und es geschah, als dies hörten alle die Könige, die diesseits des Jordans auf dem Gebirge und in der Niederung und am ganzen Gestade des großen Meeres dem Libanon gegenüber wohnten, der Chethiter und der Amoriter, der Kanaaniter und der Pherisiter, der Chiviter und der Jebusiter;
And it was when heard all the kings who [were] on [the] other side of the Jordan in the hill country and in the Shephelah and in all [the] coast of the sea great to [the] front of Lebanon the Hittite[s] and the Amorite[s] the Canaanite[s] the Perizzite[s] the Hivite[s] and the Jebusite[s].
2 Kamen sie zusammen zu Hauf, einmütig wider Joschua und Israel zu streiten.
And they gathered together all together to wage war with Joshua and with Israel mouth one.
3 Und die Einwohner Gibeons hörten, was Joschua mit Jericho und mit Ai getan hatte,
And [the] inhabitants of Gibeon they heard [that] which he had done Joshua to Jericho and to Ai.
4 Da handelten sie auch mit List, gingen hin, machten sich eine Gesandtschaft und sie nahmen alte Säcke auf ihre Esel und alte, rissige und zusammengebundene Weinschläuche.
And they acted also they with cunning and they went and they acted as ambassadors and they took sacks worn out for donkeys their and skin-bottles of wine worn out and split and tied up.
5 Und alte, geflickte Schuhe an ihre Füße und alte Gewänder an sich, und alles Brot ihrer Zehrung war vertrocknet und hatte Schimmelflecken.
And sandals worn out and patched [were] on feet their and garments worn out [were] on them and all [the] bread of provision[s] their it was dried up it was crumbs.
6 Und sie gingen zu Joschua in das Lager zu Gilgal und sprachen zu ihm und zu den Männern von Israel: Wir kommen aus fernem Lande, und nun schließet einen Bund mit uns.
And they went to Joshua to the camp Gilgal and they said to him and to [the] man of Israel from a land distant we have come and therefore make to us a covenant.
7 Und die Männer von Israel sprachen zu dem Chiviter: Vielleicht wohnst du mitten unter mir, und wie sollte ich einen Bund mit dir schließen?
(And he said *Q(K)*) [the] man of Israel to the Hivite[s] perhaps in midst my you [are] dwelling and how? (will I make *Q(k)*) to you a covenant.
8 Und sie sprachen zu Joschua: Wir sind deine Knechte. Und Joschua sprach zu ihnen: Wer seid ihr, und von wannen kommt ihr?
And they said to Joshua [are] servants your we and he said to them Joshua who? [are] you and from where? do you come.
9 Und sie sagten zu ihm: Aus einem sehr fernen Lande kommen deine Knechte wegen des Namens Jehovahs, deines Gottes; denn wir hörten Sein Gerücht, und alles, was Er in Ägypten hat getan;
And they said to him from a land distant very they have come servants your to [the] name of Yahweh God your for we have heard [the] report of him and all that he did in Egypt.
10 Und alles, was Er getan hat den zwei Königen des Amoriters jenseits des Jordans, dem Sichon, dem Könige von Cheschbon und Og, dem Könige von Baschan, der zu Aschtaroth war.
And - all that he did to [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] who [were] on [the] other side of the Jordan to Sihon [the] king of Heshbon and to Og [the] king of Bashan who [was] in Ashtaroth.
11 Und unsere Ältesten und alle, die in unserem Lande wohnen, sprachen zu uns und sagten: Nehmet Zehrung in eure Hand auf den Weg, und geht ihnen entgegen und sprechet zu ihnen: Wir sind eure Knechte, und nun schließet einen Bund mit uns.
And they said to us elders our and all [the] inhabitants of land our saying take in hand your provision[s] for the journey and go to meet them and you will say to them [are] servants your we and therefore make to us a covenant.
12 Dies unser Brot nahmen wir warm als Zehrung aus unseren Häusern am Tage, da wir auszogen, zu euch zu gehen, und siehe, nun ist es vertrocknet und mit Schimmelflecken;
This - bread our warm we took as our provisions it from homes our on [the] day came out we to come to you and now here! it has dried up and it has been crumbs.
13 Und diese Weinschläuche füllten wir neu, und siehe, sie sind rissig geworden; und das sind unsere Gewänder und unsere Schuhe, sie sind von dem sehr vielen Wege alt geworden.
And these [the] skin-bottles of wine which we filled new and here! they have split and these garments our and sandals our they have worn out from [the] greatness of the journey very.
14 Und die Männer nahmen von ihrer Zehrung; aber den Mund Jehovahs fragten sie nicht.
And they took the men some of provision[s] their and [the] mouth of Yahweh not they asked.
15 Und Joschua machte Frieden mit ihnen und schloß einen Bund mit ihnen, sie am Leben zu lassen; und die Fürsten der Gemeinde schworen denselben.
And he made to them Joshua peace and he made to them a covenant to let live them and they swore an oath to them [the] leaders of the congregation.
16 Und es geschah am Ende dreier Tage, nachdem sie den Bund mit ihnen geschlossen hatten, da hörten sie, daß sie ihnen nahe wären und in ihrer Mitte wohnten.
And it was from [the] end of three days after that they had made to them a covenant and they heard that [were] near they to him and in midst his they [were] dwelling.
17 Und die Söhne Israels brachen auf und kamen zu ihren Städten am dritten Tage; und ihre Städte waren Gibeon und Kephirah und Beeroth und Kirjath Jearim;
And they set out [the] people of Israel and they came to cities their on the day third and cities their [were] Gibeon and Kephirah and Beeroth and Kiriath Jearim.
18 Und die Söhne Israels schlugen sie nicht, weil die Fürsten der Gemeinde ihnen bei Jehovah, dem Gotte Israels, geschworen hatten; und die ganze Gemeinde murrte wider die Fürsten.
And not they attacked them [the] people of Israel for they had sworn an oath to them [the] leaders of the congregation by Yahweh [the] God of Israel and they grumbled all the congregation on the leaders.
19 Und alle die Fürsten sprachen zu der ganzen Gemeinde: Wir haben ihnen bei Jehovah, dem Gotte Israels, geschworen, und nun vermögen wir nicht sie anzurühren.
And they said all the leaders to all the congregation we we have sworn an oath to them by Yahweh [the] God of Israel and therefore not we are able to touch them.
20 Das wollen wir ihnen tun, daß wir sie leben lassen, auf daß keine Entrüstung über uns sei um des Schwures willen, den wir ihnen geschworen haben.
This we will do to them and we will let live them and not it will be towards us wrath on the oath which we swore to them.
21 Und die Fürsten sprachen zu ihnen: Sie sollen am Leben bleiben, aber Holzhauer und Wasserschöpfer für die ganze Gemeinde werden, wie die Fürsten zu ihnen geredet hatten.
And they said to them the leaders let them live and they were cutters of wood and drawers of water for all the congregation just as they had spoken to them the leaders.
22 Und Joschua rief sie und redete zu ihnen und sprach: Warum habt ihr uns betrogen und gesagt: Wir sind sehr ferne von euch, und ihr wohnet doch mitten unter uns?
And he summoned them Joshua and he spoke to them saying why? did you deceive us saying [are] distant we from you very and you in midst our [are] dwelling.
23 Und nun seid ihr verflucht! Nicht sollen unter euch aufhören der Knecht und die Holz hauen und Wasser schöpfen für das Haus meines Gottes!
And therefore [are] cursed you and not he will be cut off from you a slave and cutters of wood and drawers of water for [the] house of God my.
24 Und sie antworteten Joschua und sprachen: Man hatte deinen Knechten angesagt, was Jehovah, dein Gott, dem Mose, Seinem Knechte, geboten hat, daß er euch das ganze Land gebe, und daß ihr alle Einwohner des Landes vor euch her vernichten sollet. Darum fürchteten wir sehr für unsere Seelen vor euch, so daß wir dieses taten.
And they answered Joshua and they said that certainly it was told to servants your this: he had commanded Yahweh God your Moses servant his to give to you all the land and to destroy all [the] inhabitants of the land from before you and we were afraid very for lives our because of you and we did the thing this.
25 Und nun, siehe, wir sind in deiner Hand. Was gut und was recht ist in deinen Augen uns zu tun, das tue.
And therefore here we [are] in hand your according to the good and according to the right in view your to do to us do.
26 Und er tat ihnen also und errettete sie aus der Hand der Söhne Israels, daß sie sie nicht erwürgeten.
And he did to them thus and he delivered them from [the] hand of [the] people of Israel and not they killed them.
27 Und Joschua machte sie selbigen Tages zu Holzhauern und Wasserschöpfern für die Gemeinde und für den Altar Jehovahs bis auf diesen Tag, an dem Ort, den Er erwählen würde.
And he made them Joshua on the day that cutters of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for [the] altar of Yahweh until the day this to the place which he will choose.
