Josua 4

1 Und es geschah, wie die ganze Völkerschaft allesamt über den Jordan gegangen war, daß Jehovah zu Joschua sprach und sagte:

And when all the people were wholy gone ouer Iorden, (after the Lord had spoken vnto Ioshua, saying,

2 Nehmet euch aus dem Volk zwölf Männer, je einen Mann aus einem Stamm.

Take you twelue me out of the people, out of euery tribe a man,

3 Und gebietet ihnen und sprechet: Hebt euch auf hier mitten aus dem Jordan, von der Stelle, wo die Füße der Priester festgestanden, zwölf Steine, und bringt sie mit euch hinüber und legt sie nieder an dem Nachtlager, darin ihr über Nacht bleibt diese Nacht.

And command you them, saying, Take you hence out of the middes of Iorden, out of the place where the Priestes stoode in a readinesse, twelue stones, which ye shall take away with you, and leaue them in the lodging where you shall lodge this night)

4 Und Joschua rief den zwölf Männer aus den Söhnen Israels, die er bereit hatte, je einen Mann aus einem Stamm.

Then Ioshua called the twelue men, whome he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of euery tribe a man,

5 Und Joschua sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hinüber vor der Lade Jehovahs, eures Gottes, mitten in den Jordan, und hebt euch empor jeder Mann einen Stein auf seine Schulter nach der Zahl der Stämme der Söhne Israels.

And Ioshua said vnto them, Go ouer before the Arke of the Lord your God, euen through the middes of Iorden, and take vp euery man of you a stone vpon his shoulder according vnto the nomber of the tribes of the children of Israel,

6 Auf daß dies ein Zeichen sei in eurer Mitte, wenn eure Söhne euch morgen fragen und sagen: Was sollen euch diese Steine?

That this may bee a signe among you, that whe your children shall aske their fathers in time to come, saying, What meane you by these stones?

7 Da sollt ihr ihnen sagen, wie die Wasser des Jordans abgeschnitten wurden vor der Bundeslande Jehovahs, daß bei ihrem Übergang durch den Jordan die Wasser des Jordans abgeschnitten wurden, und daß diese Steine für die Söhne Israels seien ewiglich zum Andenken.

Then ye may answere them, That the waters of Iorden were cut off before the Arke of the couenant of the Lord: for when it passed through Iorden, the waters of Iorden were cut off: therefore these stones are a memoriall vnto the children of Israel for euer.

8 Und die Söhne Israels taten also, wie ihnen Joschua geboten hatte, und hoben zwölf Steine aus der Mitte des Jordans auf, wie Jehovah zu Joschua geredet, nach der Zahl der Stämme der Söhne Israel, und brachten sie mit sich hinüber nach dem Nachtlager und legten sie nieder allda.

Then ye children of Israel did euen so as Ioshua had commanded, and tooke vp twelue stones out of the mids of Iorden as ye Lord had said vnto Ioshua, according to the nomber of the tribes of the children of Israel, and caried them away with them vnto the lodging, and layd them down there.

9 Und Joschua richtete zwölf Steine auf mitten im Jordan, an der Stelle der Füße der Priester, so die Bundeslade trugen, und sie sind dort bis auf diesen Tag.

And Ioshua set vp twelue stones in the middes of Iorden, in the place where the feete of the Priests, which bare the Arke of the couenant stood, and there haue they continued vnto this day.

10 Und die Priester, welche die Lade trugen, standen mitten im Jordan, bis daß alles getan war, das Jehovah dem Joschua geboten hatte, zu dem Volke zu reden, nach allem, das Mose dem Joschua geboten hatte; und das Volk eilte und zog hindurch.

So the Priests, which bare ye Arke, stoode in the middes of Iorden, vntill euery thing was finished that ye Lord had comanded Ioshua to say vnto the people, according to all that Moses charged Ioshua: then the people hasted and went ouer.

11 Und es geschah, als das ganze Volk allesamt hindurchgegangen war, daß auch die Lade Jehovahs hindurchging und die Priester, angesichts des Volkes.

When all the people were cleane passed ouer, the Arke of the Lord went ouer also, and the Priests before the people.

12 Und die Söhne Rubens und die Söhne Gads und der halbe Stamm Menaschehs zogen kampfgerüstet vor den Söhnen Israels hinüber, wie Mose zu ihnen geredet hatte.

And the sonnes of Reuben, and the sonnes of Gad, and halfe the tribe of Manasseh went ouer before the children of Israel armed, as Moses had charged them.

13 Bei vierzigtausend, zum Heere ausgerüstet, zogen hinüber vor Jehovah zum Streite auf Jerichos Flachland.

Euen fourty thousand prepared for warre, went before the Lord vnto battel, into ye plaine of Iericho.

14 An jenem Tage machte Jehovah den Joschua groß vor den Augen von ganz Israel, und sie fürchteten ihn, wie sie Mose gefürchtet hatten, alle Tage seines Lebens.

That day the Lord magnified Ioshua in the sight of all Israel, and they feared him, as they feared Moses all dayes of his life.

15 Und Jehovah sprach zu Joschua und sagte:

And the Lord spake vnto Ioshua, saying,

16 Gebiete den Priestern, welche die Lade des Zeugnisses tragen, daß sie aus dem Jordan heraufsteigen;

Commande the Priests that beare ye Arke of the testimonie, to come vp out of Iorden.

17 Und Joschua gebot den Priestern und sprach: Steiget herauf aus dem Jordan.

Ioshua therefore commanded the Priests, saying, Come ye vp out of Iorden.

18 Und es geschah, als die Priester, welche die Bundeslade Jehovahs trugen, heraufstiegen aus der Mitte des Jordans, als die Fußsohlen der Priester auf das Trockene sich herauszogen, da kehrten die Wasser des Jordans an ihren Ort zurück und gingen wie gestern und ehegestern, über alle seine Ufer.

And when the Priests that bare the Arke of the couenant of ye Lord were come vp out of the middes of Iorden, and assoone as the soles of the Priests feete were set on the dry land, the waters of Iorde returned vnto their place, and flowed ouer all the bankes thereof, as they did before.

19 Und das Volk kam herauf aus dem Jordan am zehnten des ersten Monats und sie lagerten in Gilgal an der Grenze Jerichos gegen Aufgang.

So the people came vp out of Iorden the tenth day of the first moneth, and pitched in Gilgal, in the Eastside of Iericho.

20 Und jene zwölf Steine, die sie aus dem Jordan genommen, richtete Joschua in Gilgal auf;

Also the twelue stones, which they tooke out of Iorden, did Ioshua pitch in Gilgal.

21 Und er sprach zu den Söhnen Israels und sagte: So eure Söhne morgen ihre Väter fragen werden und sagen: Was sollen diese Steine?

And he spake vnto ye childre of Israel, saying, When your children shall aske their fathers in time to come, and say, What meane these stones?

22 So sollt ihr eure Söhne wissen lassen und ihnen sagen: Im Trockenen ist Israel durch den Jordan da durchgezogen.

Then ye shall shew your children, and say, Israel came ouer this Iorden on dry land:

23 Weil Jehovah, euer Gott, die Wasser des Jordans vor euch vertrocknet hatte, bis ihr durchgezogen waret, gleich wie Jehovah, euer Gott, mit dem Schilfmeere tat, das Er vor uns vertrocknete, bis wir durchgezogen.

For the Lord your God dryed vp ye waters of Iorden before you, vntill ye were gone ouer, as the Lord your God did the red Sea, which hee dryed vp before vs, till we were gone ouer,

24 Auf daß alle Völker der Erde erkennen die Hand Jehovahs, daß sie stark ist, auf daß ihr Jehovah, euren Gott, fürchtet alle Tage.

That all the people of the worlde may know that the hand of the Lord is mightie, that ye might feare the Lord your God continually.
