Josua 14

1 Und dies ist, was die Söhne Israels im Lande Kanaan als Erbe erhielten, das ihnen zum Erbe verteilten Eleasar, der Priester, und Joschua, der Sohn Nuns, und die Häupter der Väter der Stämme, der Söhne Israels.

And these are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed unto them,

2 Durch das Los, wie Jehovah durch Mose geboten hatte, verteilten sie das Erbe den neun Stämmen und dem halben Stamm.

by the lot of their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe. —

3 Denn Mose hatte den zwei Stämmen und dem halben Stamm das Erbe jenseits des Jordans gegeben, und den Leviten gab er kein Erbe in ihrer Mitte.

For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but unto the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.

4 Denn die Söhne Josephs wurden zwei Stämme: Menascheh und Ephraim; und den Leviten gaben sie keinen Teil im Lande, sondern Städte zum Wohnen und deren Weichbilde für ihre Viehherden und ihren Besitz.

For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim; and they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with the open land about them for their cattle and for their substance. —

5 Wie Jehovah Mose geboten hatte, so taten die Söhne Israels und verteilten das Land.

As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.

6 Und die Söhne Judahs traten herzu zu Joschua in Gilgal; und Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnehs, der Kenissite, sprach zu ihm: Du weißt das Wort, das Jehovah zu Mose, dem Manne Gottes, in Kadesch Barnea meinetwegen und deinetwegen geredet hat.

Then the children of Judah drew nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him: 'Thou knowest the thing that the LORD spoke unto Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-barnea.

7 Vierzig Jahre war ich alt, als Mose der Knecht Jehovahs, mich aus Kadesch Barnea sandte, das Land auszukundschaften, und ich brachte ihm Nachricht zurück, wie es in meinem Herzen war.

Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land; and I brought him back word as it was in my heart.

8 Aber meine Brüder, die mit mir hinaufgezogen waren, machten das Herz des Volkes zerschmelzen; ich aber folgte Jehovah, meinem Gotte, völlig.

Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

9 Und Mose schwur selbigen Tages und sprach: Fürwahr, das Land, das dein Fuß betreten hat, soll dir und deinen Söhnen zum Erbe sein ewiglich; denn du folgtest Jehovah, meinem Gotte, völlig.

And Moses swore on that day, saying: Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall be an inheritance to thee and to thy children for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.

10 Und nun siehe, Jehovah hat mich am Leben erhalten, wie Er geredet hat, diese fünfundvierzig Jahre, seit Jehovah dies Wort geredet hat zu Mose, da Israel in der Wüste zog, und nun siehe, ich bin diesen Tag fünfundachtzig Jahre alt.

And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as He spoke, these forty and five years, from the time that the LORD spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness; and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

11 Noch bin ich diesen Tag so stark, wie am Tage, da Mose mich sandte; wie meine Kraft war damals, so ist meine Kraft jetzt, zum Streit, zum Ausgang und zum Eingang.

As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me; as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out and to come in.

12 Und nun, gib mir diesen Berg, davon Jehovah an selbigem Tag geredet hat. Denn du hast an demselben Tage gehört, daß Enakim dort sind, und große, feste Städte. Vielleicht ist Jehovah mit mir, daß ich sie austreibe, wie Jehovah geredet hat.

Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spoke in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakim were there, and cities great and fortified; it may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the LORD spoke.'

13 Und Joschua segnete ihn und gab Chebron dem Kaleb, dem Sohne Jephunnehs, zum Erbe.

And Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.

14 Deshalb ward Chebron dem Kaleb, dem Sohne Jephunnehs, dem Kenissiten zum Erbe bis auf diesen Tag, darum, daß er Jehovah, dem Gotte Israels, völlig gefolgt.

Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, unto this day; because that he wholly followed the LORD, the God of Israel.

15 Und der Name Chebron war vordem Kirjath Arbah, eines Menschen, der groß war unter den Enakim; und das Land rastete vom Krieg.

Now the name of Hebron beforetime was Kiriath-arba, which Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim. And the land had rest from war.
