Johannes 3
1 Es war aber ein Mensch aus den Pharisäern, mit Namen Nikodemus, ein Oberster der Juden.
And there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2 Dieser kam zu Ihm bei Nacht und sprach zu Ihm: Rabbi, wir wissen, daß Du ein Lehrer bist, von Gott gekommen; denn niemand kann solche Zeichen tun, die Du tust, es sei denn Gott mit ihm.
This man came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou hast come as a teacher from God; for no one can do these signs which thou doest, unless God be with him.
3 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Wahrlich, wahrlich, Ich sage dir: Es sei denn, daß jemand von neuem geboren werde, so kann er das Reich Gottes nicht sehen.
Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nikodemus spricht zu Ihm: Wie kann ein Mensch geboren werden, wenn er ein Greis ist? Kann er zum zweiten Mal in seiner Mutter Leib eingehen und geboren werden?
Nicodemus saith to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb a second time, and be born?
5 Jesus antwortete: Wahrlich, wahrlich, Ich sage dir: Es sei denn, daß jemand aus Wasser und Geist geboren werde, so kann er nicht in das Reich Gottes eingehen.
Jesus answered, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.
6 Was aus dem Fleisch geboren ist, ist Fleisch; und was aus dem Geist geboren ist, ist Geist.
That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.
7 Verwundere dich nicht, daß Ich zur dir gesagt habe: Ihr müsset von neuem geboren werden.
Marvel not that I said to thee, Ye must be born again.
8 Der Wind weht, wo er will, und du hörst seine Stimme, weißt aber nicht, von wannen er kommt, und wohin er geht. Also ist ein jeglicher, der aus dem Geist geboren ist.
The wind bloweth where it will; and thou hearest the sound thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nikodemus antwortete und sprach zu Ihm: Wie kann solches geschehen?
Nicodemus answered and said to him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Bist du ein Lehrer Israels, und erkennst das nicht?
Jesus answered and said to him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things?
11 Wahrlich, wahrlich, Ich sage dir: Wir reden, was wir wissen, und zeugen, das wir gesehen haben, und ihr nehmt unser Zeugnis nicht an.
Truly, truly do I say to thee, We speak that which we know, and testify that which we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony.
12 Wenn Ich vom Irdischen zu euch sprach, und ihr glaubt nicht, wie werdet ihr glauben, wenn Ich euch von Himmlischem sagen würde.
If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how will ye believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13 Und niemand ist in den Himmel aufgestiegen, außer Der, so aus dem Himmel herabgestiegen ist, des Menschen Sohn, Der in dem Himmel ist.
And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, even the Son of man.
14 Und wie Moses in der Wüste die Schlange erhöhte, also muß des Menschen Sohn erhöht werden,
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up
15 Auf daß jeder, der an Ihn glaubt, nicht verloren werde, sondern das ewige Leben habe. (aiōnios g166)
that every one who believeth in him may have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
16 Denn also hat Gott die Welt geliebt, daß Er Seinen eingeborenen Sohn gab, auf daß jeder, der an Ihn glaubt, nicht verloren werde, sondern das ewige Leben habe. (aiōnios g166)
For God so loved the world, that he gave the only begotten Son, that every one who believeth in him may not perish, but may have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
17 Denn Gott hat Seinen Sohn nicht in die Welt gesandt, daß Er die Welt richte, sondern daß die Welt durch Ihn gerettet werde.
For God sent not the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that through him the world might be saved.
18 Wer an Ihn glaubt, wird nicht gerichtet; wer aber nicht glaubt, ist schon gerichtet, weil er nicht geglaubt hat an den Namen des eingeborenen Sohnes Gottes.
He that believeth in him is not condemned; he that believeth not hath already been condemned, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 Das ist aber das Gericht, daß das Licht in die Welt gekommen ist und die Menschen die Finsternis mehr liebten, denn das Licht; denn ihre Werke waren schlecht.
And this is the condemnation, that the light hath come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil.
20 Denn jeder, der Arges tut, haßt das Licht und kommt nicht zum Licht, auf daß seine Werke nicht gerügt werden.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 Wer aber die Wahrheit tut, der kommt zum Licht, damit seine Werke offenbar werden, weil sie in Gott gewirkt sind.
But he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
22 Danach kam Jesus und Seine Jünger in das jüdische Land und verweilte daselbst mit ihnen und taufte.
After these things Jesus and his disciples came into the land of Judaea; and there he remained with them, and baptized.
23 Johannes aber taufte auch zu Enon, nahe bei Salim, weil viel Wasser daselbst war; und sie traten herzu und ließen sich taufen.
And John also was baptizing in AEnon, near Salim, because there was much water there; and they came, and were baptized.
24 Denn Johannes war noch nicht ins Gefängnis geworfen.
For John was not yet thrown into prison.
25 Es ward nun eine Streitfrage von den Jüngern des Johannes mit den Juden über Reinigung;
Then there arose a question on the part of John's disciples with a Jew about purifying.
26 Und sie kamen zu Johannes und sagten zu ihm: Rabbi, Der mit dir jenseits des Jordan war, für Den du zeugtest, siehe, Der tauft und alle kommen zu Ihm.
And they came to John, and said to him, Rabbi, he who was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, he baptizeth, and all men are going to him.
27 Johannes antwortete und sprach: Der Mensch kann nichts nehmen, es werde ihm denn aus dem Himmel gegeben.
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, unless it be given him from heaven.
28 Ihr selbst seid mir Zeugen, daß ich gesagt habe: Ich bin nicht Christus, sondern vor Ihm hergesandt.
Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I was sent before that man.
29 Wer die Braut hat, ist Bräutigam; der Freund des Bräutigams aber, der dasteht und ihn hört, freut sich mit Freude ob der Stimme des Bräutigams. Diese meine Freude ist nun erfüllt.
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. This my joy then hath become full.
30 Er muß wachsen, ich aber muß abnehmen.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 Der von oben kommt, ist über alle. Wer von der Erde ist, der ist aus der Erde und redet aus der Erde. Der aus dem Himmel kommt, ist über alle.
He that cometh from above is above all. He that is from the earth is earthly, and speaketh earthly things; he that cometh from heaven
32 Und was Er gesehen und gehört hat, davon zeugt Er; und Sein Zeugnis nimmt niemand an.
testifieth what he hath seen and heard; and no one receiveth his testimony.
33 Wer Sein Zeugnis annimmt, der hat besiegelt, daß Gott wahrhaftig ist.
He that hath received his testimony hath set his seal that God is true.
34 Denn Der, Den Gott gesandt hat, redet die Reden Gottes; denn Gott gibt Ihm den Geist nicht nach Maß.
For he whom God sent speaketh the words of God; for he giveth not the Spirit by measure.
35 Der Vater liebt den Sohn und hat alles in Seine Hand gegeben.
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
36 Wer an den Sohn glaubt, hat ewiges Leben; wer aber nicht an den Sohn glaubt, der wird das Leben nicht sehen; sondern der Zorn Gottes bleibt auf ihm. (aiōnios g166)
He that believeth in the Son hath everlasting life; and he that disobeyeth the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (aiōnios g166)
