Jeremia 45

1 Das Wort, das Jirmejahu, der Prophet, zu Baruch, Nerijahs Sohn, redete, da er diese Worte in ein Buch schrieb aus Jirmejahus Mund im vierten Jahre Jehojakims, des Sohnes Joschijahus, des Königs von Jehudah, sprechend:

The word which Jeremiah the prophet spake to Baruch, the son of Neriah, after he had written these words in a book from the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying: —

2 So spricht Jehovah, der Gott Israels, über dich, Baruch:

Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, to thee, O Baruch!

3 Du sprachst: Wehe mir doch, daß Jehovah Gram zu meinem Schmerz hinzutut. Ich bin müde von meinem Seufzen, und Ruhe finde ich nicht.

Thou sayest, “Woe now to me, for Jehovah hath added grief to my sorrow! I am weary with my sighing, and find no rest.”

4 So sollst du zu ihm sagen: So spricht Jehovah: Siehe, was Ich baute, reiße Ich nieder, und was Ich pflanzte, rode Ich aus, und dieses ganze Land ist es;

Thus shalt thou say to him: Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, that which I myself have builded do I break down, and that which I myself have planted do I pluck up, even this whole land;

5 Und du trachtest für dich nach Großem. Trachte nicht danach; denn siehe, Ich lasse Böses kommen über alles Fleisch, spricht Jehovah; dir aber gebe Ich deine Seele zur Beute an allen Orten, dahin du gehen wirst.

and seekest thou great things for thyself? Seek them not; for behold, I am about to bring evil upon all flesh, saith Jehovah; but thy life will I give thee, as a prey, in all places whither thou shalt go.
