Jeremia 4

1 Wenn du zurückkehrst, Israel, spricht Jehovah, zu Mir zurückkehrst und deine Scheusale wegtust vor Meinem Angesicht, und nicht schwankst;

If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return to me: and if thou wilt put away thy abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not be removed.

2 Und schwörst bei Jehovahs Leben in Wahrheit, in Recht und in Gerechtigkeit: so werden in Ihm die Völkerschaften gesegnet werden und in Ihm sich rühmen.

And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

3 Denn so spricht Jehovah zu dem Mann von Judah und zu Jerusalem: Brecht einen Neubruch euch und sät nicht unter Dornen.

For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.

4 Beschneidet euch dem Jehovah und tut weg die Vorhaut eures Herzens, o Mann Jehudahs und Bewohner von Jerusalem, daß nicht wie Feuer ausgehe Mein Grimm und brenne und niemand da sei, der lösche, ob der Bosheit eures Tuns.

Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

5 Sagt es an in Jehudah und in Jerusalem laßt es hören, und sprechet und blaset die Posaune im Land, macht es voll und sprecht: Sammelt euch und laßt uns in die festen Städte gehen.

Declare ye in Judah, and proclaim in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, confirm, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities.

6 Erhebt das Panier Zijon zu, flüchtet euch zusammen und bleibt nicht stehen, denn Böses laß Ich kommen von Mittenacht und ein großes Zerbrechen.

Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.

7 Ein Löwe kommt herauf aus seinem Dickicht und wird Völkerschaften verderben, er ist aufgebrochen, aus seinem Orte ausgezogen, dein Land zur Wüstenei zu machen, daß deine Städte zertrümmert werden, niemand darin wohne.

The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

8 Darum gürtet euch mit Säcken, klaget und heulet; denn die Entbrennung von Jehovahs Zorn kehrt nicht von uns zurück.

For this gird yourselves with sackcloth, lament and wail: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.

9 Und an jenem Tage wird geschehen, spricht Jehovah, daß das Herz des Königs und das Herz der Obersten vergeht, daß die Priester erstaunen und die Propheten sich verwundern.

And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.

10 Und ich sprach: Ach, Herr Jehovah, fürwahr hast Du dies Volk und Jerusalem verführen und ihm sagen lassen: Ihr werdet Frieden haben, und es reicht bis an die Seele das Schwert.

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; though the sword reacheth to the soul.

11 Zur selben Zeit wird man diesem Volk und Jerusalem sagen: Ein sengender Wind der Anhöhen in der Wüste ist der Weg der Tochter Meines Volkes, nicht um zu worfeln und zu säubern.

At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,

12 Ein voller Wind kommt Mir von ihnen. Nun will Ich auch mit diesen von Gerichten reden.

Even a full wind from those places shall come to me: now also will I give sentence against them.

13 Siehe, wie Wolken zieht es herauf und wie der Sturmwind sind seine Streitwagen, schneller denn Adler seine Rosse! Wehe uns! wir sind verheert!

Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! for we are laid waste.

14 Wasche dein Herz vom Bösen, Jerusalem, daß du gerettet werdest! Wie lange willst du in deinem Inneren herbergen deines Unrechts Gedanken!

O Jerusalem, wash thy heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

15 Denn eine Stimme, die es ansagt, kommt von Dan, er, der Unrechtes hören läßt, von Ephraims Gebirge.

For a voice declareth from Dan, and proclaimeth affliction from mount Ephraim.

16 Meldet es den Völkerschaften! Siehe! Laßt es hören über Jerusalem! Wächter kommen aus fernem Land und geben ihre Stimme wider Jehudahs Städte hervor.

Make ye mention to the nations; behold, proclaim against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.

17 Wie Hüter des Feldes sind sie wider sie rings umher, weil sie widerspenstig geworden ist, spricht Jehovah.

As keepers of a field, they are against her on all sides; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.

18 Dein Weg und dein Tun haben dir es getan. Das ist deine Bosheit, daß dir es bitter ist, daß dir es an das Herz reicht.

Thy way and thy doings have procured these things to thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth to thy heart.

19 Mein Eingeweide! Mein Eingeweide! Es kreißen die Wände meines Herzens. Mein Herz tobt auf, ich kann nicht stille schweigen; denn der Posaune Stimme hört meine Seele, des Streites Feldgeschrei.

My heart, my heart! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

20 Bruch auf Bruch begegnet man. Denn verheert ist das ganze Land, plötzlich verheert sind meine Zelte, in einem Augenblick meine Teppiche.

Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents ruined, and my curtains in a moment.

21 Wie lange soll Ich sehen das Panier, hören der Posaune Stimme?

How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?

22 Denn Mein Volk ist dumm, Mich kennt es nicht. Närrische Söhne sind sie, und ohne Einsicht sind sie, weise sind sie zum Böses tun, aber Gutes zu tun, wissen sie nicht.

For my people are foolish, they have not known me; they are silly children, and they have no understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

23 Ich sah die Erde, und siehe! eine Leere und Öde, und auf zu den Himmeln, und ihr Licht war nicht da.

I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

24 Ich sah die Berge und siehe! sie bebten, und alle Hügel wankten.

I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

25 Ich sah, und siehe! da war kein Mensch, und alles Gevögel der Himmel war entflohen.

I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the fowls of the heavens had fled.

26 Ich sah, und siehe! der Karmel war eine Wüste, und alle seine Städte waren eingerissen vor Jehovah, vor der Entbrennung Seines Zorns.

I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

27 Denn so spricht Jehovah: Verwüstet soll sein das ganze Land, doch will Ich nicht eine Vollendung machen.

For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

28 Darüber soll das Land trauern und die Himmel droben sich verdunkeln, weil, was Ich geredet habe, habe Ich beschlossen, und nicht gereut es Mich, noch wende Ich Mich davon zurück.

For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

29 Vor der Stimme des Reiters und des Bogenschützen entweicht die ganze Stadt; sie gehen hinein in die dichten Wolken und zu den Felskuppen steigen sie auf. Verlassen ist die ganze Stadt und kein Mann wohnt darinnen.

The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell in it.

30 Und du, Verheerte, was tust du? Ziehst du Scharlach an, schmückst dich mit Goldschmuck, schminkst mit Bleiglanz deine Augen, - umsonst machst du dich schön - es verschmähen dich deine Liebhaber, sie trachten dir nach der Seele.

And when thou art laid waste, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou enlarge thy eyes with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

31 Ich höre die Stimme wie einer Kreißenden, Bedrängnis wie einer, die zum erstenmal gebiert, die Stimme der Tochter Zijons, die schluchzt, die ihre Hände ausbreitet. O weh, mir doch; denn meine Seele ermattet vor den Mordenden!

For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
