Jeremia 35

1 Das Wort, das an Jirmejahu geschah von Jehovah in den Tagen Jehojakims, des Sohnes von Joschijahu, dem Könige Jehudahs, sprechend:

[Several years earlier, ] when Jehoiakim was the King of Judah, Yahweh gave me this message:

2 Gehe zum Haus der Rechabiter und rede mit ihnen und bringe sie herein in das Haus Jehovahs in eine der Zellen und gib ihnen Wein zu trinken.

“Go to the place where families of the Rechab clan live. Invite them to my temple. [When they arrive, ] take them into one of the inside rooms and offer them [some] wine.”

3 Und ich nahm Jaasanjah, Jirmejahus Sohn, des Sohnes Chabazzinjahs und seine Brüder und alle seine Söhne und das ganze Haus der Rechabiter.

So I went to see Jaazaniah and all his brothers and sons who represented the Rechab clan. Jaazaniah was the son of [another man named] Jeremiah and grandson of Habazziniah.

4 Und brachte sie herein zum Hause Jehovahs, zur Zelle der Söhne Chanans, des Sohnes Jigdaljahus, des Mannes Gottes, die neben der Zelle des Obersten ist, die über der Zelle Maasejahus, des Sohnes Schallums, ist, der die Schwelle hütete.

I took them to the temple, [and we went] into the room where the sons of Igdaliah’s son Hanan, who was a prophet, stayed. That room was next to the room that was used by the men who were in charge of the entrances to the temple. It was above the room that belonged to Maaseiah, who was the temple gatekeeper and the son of Shallum.

5 Und vor die Söhne des Hauses der Rechabiter gab ich Kelche voll von Wein und Becher, und sprach zu ihnen: Trinket Wein!

I set jugs of wine in front of them and urged them to drink some,

6 Und sie sprachen: Wir trinken keinen Wein; denn Jonadab, der Sohn Rechabs, unser Vater, hat über uns geboten und gesagt: Ihr sollt keinen Wein trinken, ihr und eure Söhne ewiglich!

but they refused. They said, “We do not drink wine, because our ancestor Jehonadab, the son of Rechab, commanded us, saying ‘You and your descendants must never drink wine.

7 Und ein Haus sollt ihr nicht bauen, noch Samen säen und keinen Weinberg pflanzen, noch einen haben, sondern in Zelten wohnen alle eure Tage, daß ihr lebet viele Tage auf dem Boden, darauf ihr Fremdlinge seid.

And you must not build houses or plant vineyards or [other] crops. Instead, you must always live in tents. If you obey those commands, you all will live for many years in this land.’

8 Und wir haben gehört auf die Stimme, Jehonadabs, des Sohnes Rechabs, unseres Vaters, nach allem, was er uns geboten, daß keinen Wein wir trinken all unsere Tage, wir, unsere Weiber, unsere Söhne und unsere Töchter.

[So] we have obeyed him in all those matters. We have never drunk wine. Our wives and our sons and our daughters [have also never drunk wine].

9 Und daß wir keine Häuser bauen, darin zu wohnen, und Weinberg und Feld und Samen haben wir nicht;

We have not built houses or planted vineyards or [other] crops or [worked in] fields.

10 Und wir wohnen in Zelten, und gehorchen und tun nach allem, was uns Jonadab, unser Vater, geboten hat.

We have lived in tents. We have obeyed all the commands that Jehonadab, our ancestor, gave us.

11 Und es geschah, da Nebuchadrezzar, Babels König, heraufzog wider das Land, da sprachen wir: Kommt, und laßt uns kommen gen Jerusalem vor der Chaldäer Streitmacht und vor der Streitmacht Arams, und wir wohnen in Jerusalem.

But when [the army of] King Nebuchadnezzar attacked this country, we said, ‘We must go to Jerusalem to escape from the armies of Babylonia and Syria.’ So, [we came] to Jerusalem and we are living [here].”

12 Und es geschah Jehovahs Wort an Jirmejahu, sprechend:

Then Yahweh gave this message to me: “This is what [I], the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom the Israeli [people say that they belong to], say:

13 So spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Gehe hin und sprich zum Manne Jehudahs und zu Jerusalems Bewohnern: Nehmet ihr nicht Zucht an, daß ihr auf Meine Worte hört? spricht Jehovah.

'Go and tell this to the people in Jerusalem and in [other places in] Judah: “Why do you not [RHQ] listen to me or learn something about how to obey me?

14 Es erstehen die Worte Jehonadabs, des Sohnes Rechabs, die er seinen Söhnen gebot, nicht Wein zu trinken; und sie trinken keinen bis auf diesen Tag; denn sie hören auf das Gebot ihres Vaters; und Ich redete zu euch, früh aufstehend und redend, und ihr höret nicht auf Mich.

The Rechab clan still do not drink wine, because their ancestor Jehonadab told them to not do that. [In contrast], I have spoken to you many times, but you refuse to obey me.

15 Und Ich sandte zu euch all Meine Knechte, die Propheten, früh aufstehend und sendend, und sprach: Kehret doch zurück, jeder Mann von seinem bösen Wege, und machet eure Taten gut, und geht nicht anderen Göttern nach, ihnen zu dienen, auf daß ihr wohnet auf dem Boden, den Ich euch gab und euren Vätern; ihr aber neigtet nicht euer Ohr und hörtet nicht auf Mich.

Many times I sent prophets to you. They told you, 'Turn away from your wicked behavior, and do things that you should do. Stop worshiping other gods, in order that you will be able to live [peacefully] in this land that I gave to you and your ancestors.' But you would not pay attention to what I said or obey me.

16 Die Söhne Jehonadabs, des Sohnes Rechabs, bestätigen das Gebot ihres Vaters, das er ihnen geboten, aber dieses Volk hört nicht auf Mich.

The descendants of Jehonadab have obeyed their ancestor, but you have refused to pay attention to what I told you.

17 Darum, so spricht Jehovah, der Gott der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Siehe, Ich bringe über Jehudah und über alle Bewohner Jerusalems all das Böse, das Ich über sie geredet habe: weil Ich zu ihnen redete und sie hörten nicht, und Ich ihnen rief und sie antworteten nicht.

Therefore, this is what [I], the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom you Israeli people [say you belong to], say: 'You have refused to listen to me and you did not answer when I called you. Therefore, I will cause the people in Jerusalem and [other places in] Judah to experience all the disasters that I said that I would cause to happen.'” '”

18 Und zu dem Haus der Rechabiter sprach Jirmejahu: Also spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Weil ihr gehört habt auf das Gebot Jehonadabs, eures Vaters, und hieltet alle seine Gebote und tatet nach allem, was er euch geboten hat:

Then I turned to the Rechab clan and said, “This is what the Commander of the armies of angels, the God whom [we] Israelis [say we belong to], says: ‘You have obeyed what your ancestor Jehonadab told you. You have obeyed all his instructions.

19 Darum, so spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, soll dem Jonadab, dem Sohne Rechabs, nicht ausgerottet werden ein Mann, der vor Mir stehe alle Tage.

Therefore, this is what I say: “There will always be descendants of Jehonadab who will do work for me.”’”
