Jeremia 22
1 So spricht Jehovah: Gehe hinab in das Haus des Königs von Jehudah und rede allda dieses Wort
Thus said Jehovah, 'Go down [to] the house of the king of Judah, and thou hast spoken there this word, and hast said,
2 Und sprich: Höre das Wort Jehovahs, König Jehudahs, der du auf dem Throne Davids sitzest, du und deine Knechte und dein Volk, die eingehen zu diesen Toren.
Hear a word of Jehovah, O king of Judah, who art sitting on the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people, who are coming in at these gates,
3 So spricht Jehovah: Tuet Recht und Gerechtigkeit, und errettet den Ausgeplünderten aus der Hand des Erpressers, und den Fremdling, die Waise und die Witwe bedrücket nicht, übet nicht Gewalttat und vergießet kein unschuldig Blut an diesem Ort.
Thus said Jehovah: Do ye judgment and righteousness, And deliver the plundered from the hand of the oppressor, And sojourner, orphan, and widow, ye do not oppress nor wrong, And innocent blood ye do not shed in this place.
4 So ihr nach diesem Worte tut, dann werden durch dieses Hauses Tore Könige eingehen, die dem David auf seinem Throne sitzen, fahrend auf Streitwagen und auf Rossen, sie und ihre Knechte und ihr Volk.
For, if ye certainly do this thing, Then come in by the gates of this house Have kings sitting for David on his throne, Riding on chariot, and on horses, He, and his servants, and his people.
5 So aber ihr nicht hört auf diese Worte, schwöre Ich bei Mir, spricht Jehovah, daß dieses Haus zur Verödung werden soll.
And if ye do not hear these words, By myself I have sworn — an affirmation of Jehovah, That this house is for a desolation.
6 Denn also spricht Jehovah über das Haus des Königs von Jehudah: Ein Gilead warst du Mir, das Haupt des Libanons; werde Ich dich nicht zur Wüste setzen, zu Städten, die nicht bewohnt sind?
For thus said Jehovah, Concerning the house of the king of Judah: Gilead [art] thou to Me — head of Lebanon, If not — I make thee a wilderness, Cities not inhabited.
7 Und Ich heilige Verderber wider dich, den Mann und seine Waffen, daß sie die Auswahl deiner Zedern umhauen und sie fällen für das Feuer.
And I have separated for thee destroyers, Each with his weapons, And they have cut down the choice of thy cedars, And have cast them on the fire.
8 Und viele Völkerschaften werden an dieser Stadt vorübergehen und sprechen, der Mann zu seinen Genossen: Warum hat dieser großen Stadt Jehovah so getan?
And many nations have passed by this city, And they have said, each to his neighbour, For what hath Jehovah done thus to this great city?
9 Und werden sagen: Darum, daß sie den Bund Jehovahs, ihres Gottes, verließen, und andere Götter anbeteten und ihnen dienten.
And they have said, 'Because that they have forsaken The covenant of Jehovah their God, And bow themselves to other gods, and serve them.'
10 Weint nicht über den Toten und tragt nicht Leid um ihn, weint vielmehr über den, der hingeht und nicht mehr zurückkehrt und sieht das Land seiner Geburt.
Ye do not weep for the dead, nor bemoan for him, Weep ye sore for the traveller, For he doth not return again, Nor hath he seen the land of his birth.
11 Denn also spricht Jehovah über Schallum, Joschijahus Sohn, Jehudahs König, der an seines Vaters Joschijahus Statt König ist, der von diesem Orte ausgezogen. Er wird nimmer dahin zurückkehren.
For thus said Jehovah concerning Shallum son of Josiah king of Judah, who is reigning instead of Josiah his father, who hath gone forth from this place: He doth not turn back hither again;
12 Denn an dem Orte, da sie ihn weggeführt, dort wird er sterben und dieses Land nicht mehr sehen.
For in the place whither they have removed him he dieth, And this land he doth not see again.
13 Wehe dem, der sein Haus baut ohne Gerechtigkeit und seine Söller ohne Recht, der seines Genossen sich bedient umsonst und ihm seinen Arbeitslohn nicht gibt.
Woe to him who is building his house by unrighteousness, And his upper chambers by injustice, On his neighbour he layeth service for nought, And his wage he doth not give to him.
14 Der sagt: Ich will ein Haus mir bauen nach dem Maßstab, und luftige Söller! und Fenster sich aushaut und es mit Zedern täfelt, und mit Bergrot bestreicht.
Who is saying, 'I build for myself a large house, And airy upper chambers,' And he hath cut out for himself its windows, Ceiled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
15 Solltest du König sein, daß du in Zedern wetteiferst? Dein Vater, aß und trank er nicht auch, und tat Recht und Gerechtigkeit? Dann war es gut mit ihm.
Dost thou reign, because thou art fretting thyself in cedar? Thy father — did he not eat and drink? Yea, he did judgment and righteousness, Then [it is] well with him.
16 Er rechtete dem Elenden und Dürftigen die Rechtssache, da war es gut. Heißt das nicht Mich erkennen? spricht Jehovah.
He decided the cause of the poor and needy, Then [it is] well — is it not to know Me? An affirmation of Jehovah.
17 Denn deine Augen und dein Herz sind auf nichts aus, als auf deinen Gewinn, und auf unschuldig Blut, zu vergießen, und auf Erpressung und Plackerei, um es zu üben.
But thine eyes and thy heart are not, Except on thy dishonest gain, And on shedding of innocent blood, And on oppression, and on doing of violence.
18 Darum, so spricht Jehovah zu Jehojakim, Joschijahus Sohn, dem Könige Jehudahs, sie werden nicht um ihn klagen: O weh, mein Bruder! Und wehe, Schwester! Sie werden nicht um ihn klagen: O weh dem Herrn, und wehe der Majestät!
Therefore, thus said Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: They do not lament for him, Ah, my brother, and Ah, sister, They do not lament for him, Ah, lord, and Ah, his honour.
19 Mit dem Begräbnis eines Esels wird er begraben, geschleift und hingeworfen au-ßerhalb der Tore Jerusalems.
The burial of an ass — he is buried, Dragged and cast out thence to the gates of Jerusalem.
20 Steige hinauf auf den Libanon und schreie, gib deine Stimme in Baschan hervor, und schreie von Abarim; denn alle, die dich liebten, sind zerbrochen.
Go up to Lebanon, and cry, And in Bashan give forth thy voice, And cry from Abarim, For destroyed have been all loving thee.
21 Ich redete zu dir in deiner Behaglichkeit. Du sprachst: Ich will es nicht hören. Dies war dein Weg von deiner Jugend auf, daß du auf Meine Stimme nicht hörtest.
I have spoken unto thee in thine ease, Thou hast said, 'I do not hearken,' This [is] thy way from thy youth, For thou hast not hearkened to My voice.
22 All deine Hirten weidet ab der Wind, und deine Liebhaber gehen in Gefangenschaft. Denn beschämt und zuschanden wirst du dann ob aller deiner Bosheit.
All thy friends consume doth wind, And thy lovers into captivity do go, Surely then thou art ashamed, And hast blushed for all thy wickedness.
23 Die du wohntest auf dem Libanon, nistetest in den Zedern, wie wirst du begnadigt werden, wenn Geburtsnöten dich und ein Kreißen ankommen, wie die Gebärende.
O dweller in Lebanon, making a nest among cedars, How gracious hast thou been when pangs come to thee, Pain — as of a travailing woman.
24 Bei Meinem Leben, spricht Jehovah, wärst du auch Chonjahu, der Sohn Jojakims, der König von Jehudah, der Siegelring an Meiner rechten Hand, abreißen müßte Ich dich von da.
I live — an affirmation of Jehovah, Though Coniah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah Were a seal on My right hand, Surely thence I draw thee away,
25 Und habe dich in die Hand derer gegeben, die dir nach der Seele trachten, und in die Hand derer, vor deren Angesicht du bangst, und in Nebuchadrezzars Hand, des Königs von Babel, und in die Hand der Chaldäer.
And I have given thee into the hand of those seeking thy life, And into hands of which thou art afraid, Into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of the Chaldeans.
26 Und Ich schleudere dich und deine Mutter, die dich geboren hat, in ein anderes Land, da ihr nicht seid geboren; und allda sollt ihr sterben.
And I have cast thee, And thy mother who bore thee, unto another country, Where ye were not born, and there do ye die.
27 Und nach dem Lande, wohin sie erheben ihre Seele dahin zurückzukehren, dorthin sollen sie nicht zurückkehren.
And to the land whither they are lifting up their soul to return, Thither they do not return.
28 Ist dieser Mann Chonjahu denn ein verachtetes, zerschelltes Gebilde, ein Gefäß, an dem man keine Lust hat? Warum schleudern sie ihn und seinen Samen hin und werfen ihn in ein Land, das sie nicht kannten?
A grief — a despised broken thing — is this man Coniah? A vessel in which there is no pleasure? Wherefore have they been cast up and down, He and his seed, Yea, they were cast on to a land that they knew not?
29 O Land, Land, Land! Höre Jehovahs Wort!
Earth, earth, earth, hear a word of Jehovah,
30 So spricht Jehovah: Schreibet diesen Mann als kinderlos, als einen Mann, der kein Gelingen hat in seinen Tagen; denn nicht wird es einem Mann aus seinem Samen gelingen, daß er auf Davids Thron sitze und noch über Jehudah herrsche.
Thus said Jehovah: Write ye this man childless, A man — he doth not prosper in his days, For none of his seed doth prosper, Sitting on the throne of David, And ruling again in Judah!
