Jesaja 44
1 Und nun höre, Jakob, Mein Knecht, und Israel, den Ich habe erwählt.
Yet now hear, O Jacob, my servant, And Israel, whom I have chosen;
2 So spricht Jehovah, Der dich gemacht, und dein Bildner vom Mutterleib her, Der dir steht bei: Fürchte dich nicht, Mein Knecht, Jakob, und Jeschurun, den Ich habe auserwählt.
Thus saith Jehovah, thy Creator, He that formed thee, and hath helped thee from thy birth, Fear not, O Jacob, my servant, O Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
3 Denn Ich will Wasser gießen auf Dürstendes und Bächlein auf das Trockene, will Meinen Geist gießen auf deinen Samen und Meinen Segen auf deine Sprößlinge.
For I will pour water upon the thirsty land, And streams upon the dry ground. I will pour out my spirit on thy children, And my blessing on thine offspring;
4 Und sie sollen sprossen zwischen dem Grase, wie Weiden über Wasserströme.
And they shall grow up, as among grass; As willows by the water-brooks.
5 Dieser wird sprechen: Ich bin Jehovahs; und dieser wird sich nach dem Namen Jakobs nennen. Und jener verschreibt sich mit seiner Hand dem Jehovah und benennt sich mit dem Namen Israels.
One shall say, “I belong to Jehovah”; Another shall call upon the name of Jacob; Another shall write upon his hand, Jehovah's! And praise the name of Israel.
6 So spricht Jehovah, der König Israels und sein Erlöser, Jehovah der Heerscharen: Ich bin der Erste und Ich bin der Letzte und außer Mir ist kein Gott.
Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, His redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I the last, And besides me there is no God.
7 Und wer ist wie Ich, der rufet und ansagt und Mir es anordnet, seit Ich ein Volk der Ewigkeit setzte; und laßt sie ihnen die Zeichen und was da kommen soll, ansagen!
Who like me hath proclaimed the future, —Let him declare it, and set it in order before me!— Since I established the people of old? Let them make known the future, even that which is to come!
8 Laßt euch nicht schauern und fürchtet euch nicht! Habe Ich es nicht von jeher dich hören lassen und angesagt, und ihr seid Mir Zeugen. Ist ein Gott da außer Mir? Es ist kein Fels; Ich weiß keinen.
Fear ye not, neither be ye afraid! Have I not declared and made it known to you of old? Ye are my witnesses; Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no other rock; I know not any.
9 Die Bildner der Schnitzbilder sind allesamt eitel, und ihr Vielbegehrtes ist nichts nütze; und ihre Zeugen sind sie selber: sie sehen nicht und wissen nichts, so daß sie beschämt werden.
They that make a graven image are all of them vanity, And their valued works are profitable for nothing; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor understand, So that they may be ashamed.
10 Wer bildet einen Gott und gießt ein Schnitzbild, das nichts nütze ist?
Who hath formed a god, And cast a graven image, that is profitable for nothing?
11 Siehe, alle seine Gesellen werden beschämt, und von Menschen sind die Künstler. Laßt zusammenkommen sie alle, laßt sie stehen, schauern, beschämt werden allzumal.
Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed; The workmen are themselves mortal men; They shall all be assembled; they shall stand up; They shall tremble, and be put to shame together!
12 Er schmiedet das Eisen mit der Zange, und arbeitet mit der Kohle, und bildet es mit Hämmern, und arbeitet daran mit dem Arme seiner Kraft; er hungert auch und ist keine Kraft da; er trinkt kein Wasser und ist matt.
The smith prepareth an axe in the coals, And fashioneth it with hammers, And worketh it with his strong arm; He becometh hungry, and his strength faileth; He drinketh no water, and is faint.
13 Er schnitzt das Holz, er spannt die Meß-schnur und gestaltet es mit dem Stift; er macht es an den Ecken und gestaltet es mit dem Zirkel; und macht es nach dem Vorbild eines Mannes, wie ein schmucker Mensch, auf daß es im Hause wohne.
The carpenter stretcheth out the line; He marketh out the form of it with the sharp tool; He formeth it with planes; He marketh it with the compass; He maketh it in the figure of a man, With the beauty of a man, To dwell in a house.
14 Er haut sich Zedern um und nimmt Buchen und Eichen, und macht sich stark mit des Waldes Bäumen, und er pflanzt einen Ornusbaum, daß der Regen ihn groß mache.
He heweth him down cedars; He taketh the ilex and the oak; He chooseth for himself among the trees of the forest; He planteth the ash, and the rain matureth it;
15 Und es ist für den Menschen zum Brennen, und er nimmt davon und wärmt sich, und er zündet es an und bäckt Brot; er macht sich auch einen Gott daraus und betet ihn an, er macht es zu einem Schnitzbild und fällt vor ihm nieder.
These are fuel for man; He taketh thereof and warmeth himself; He kindleth with it, and baketh bread; A god also he formeth of it, and worshippeth it; A graven image, and falleth down before it.
16 Die Hälfte davon verbrennt er im Feuer, mit der anderen Hälfte ißt er Fleisch, brät Braten und sättigt sich, auch wärmt er sich und spricht: Bruder, ich bin warm, ich habe Feuer gesehen.
Half of it he burneth with fire; With half of it he eateth flesh; He roasteth meat, and satisfieth himself; He also warmeth himself, and saith, Aha! I am warm; I feel the fire.
17 Und dessen Überrest macht er sich zu einem Gott, zu seinem Schnitzbild, fällt vor ihm nieder und verbeugt sich und betet zu ihm und spricht: Errette mich, denn mein Gott bist du!
Of the residue he maketh a god, even his graven image; He falleth down before it and worshippeth it, And prayeth to it, and saith, “Deliver me, for thou art my God!”
18 Sie wissen nicht und sehen nicht ein, denn verkleistert sind ihre Augen, daß sie nicht sehen, ihre Herzen, daß sie nicht verstehen.
They know not, neither understand; For their eyes are closed up, that they cannot see, And their hearts, that they cannot understand.
19 Und er nimmt es nicht zu Herzen und weiß nicht und sieht nicht ein, daß er spräche: Die Hälfte davon verbrannte ich im Feuer, und buk auch über seinen Kohlen Brot, briet Fleisch und aß, und das übrige sollte ich zum Greuel machen, vor dem Holzklotz niederfallen?
None considereth in his mind, Or hath knowledge and understanding to say: “Half of it I have burned with fire; I have also baked bread on the coals of it; I have roasted flesh and have eaten; And shall I make the remnant an abomination? Shall I fall down before the stock of a tree?”
20 Er weidet sich mit Asche, und sein hintergangenes Herz wendet ihn ab, daß seine Seele er nicht erretten kann und nicht spricht: Ist nicht eine Lüge in meiner Rechten?
He toileth for ashes; A deluded heart turneth him aside, So that he cannot deliver himself, and say “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”
21 Daran gedenke, Jakob und Israel; denn Mein Knecht bist du. Ich habe dich gebildet, Mein Knecht bist du, Israel, und sollst Mir nicht vergessen sein.
Remember these things, O Jacob, O Israel, for thou art my servant! I formed thee; thou art my servant; O Israel, I will not forget thee.
22 Wie eine dichte Wolke wische Ich aus deine Übertretungen und wie eine Wolke deine Sünden. Kehre zu Mir zurück, denn Ich habe dich erlöst.
I have caused thy transgressions to vanish like a cloud, And thy sins like a mist; Return to me, for I have redeemed thee!
23 Jubelt ihr Himmel, denn Jehovah hat es getan; rufet laut ihr unteren Räume der Erde, brecht aus in Jubel ihr Berge, der Wald und jeder Baum darin; denn erlöst hat Jehovah Jakob, und sich in Israel verklärt.
Sing, O ye heavens, for Jehovah hath done it; Shout, O ye depths of the earth! Break forth into song, ye mountains! Thou forest, and every tree therein! For Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, And glorified himself in Israel.
24 So spricht Jehovah, dein Erlöser und dein Bildner von Mutterleib an: Ich, Jehovah, tue alles, spanne aus die Himmel, Ich allein breite die Erde aus von Mir Selbst,
Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, Even he that formed thee from the womb; I am Jehovah, who made all things; Who stretched out the heavens alone; Who spread out the earth by myself;
25 Er macht zunichte der Unwahren Zeichen, macht rasen die Wahrsager, wendet zurück die Weisen hinter Sich, und ihr Wissen macht Er zur Narrheit.
Who frustrateth the signs of deceivers, And maketh the diviners mad; Who putteth the wise men to shame, And maketh their knowledge folly;
26 Die Worte Seines Knechtes bestätigt Er, vollbringt Seiner Boten Rat, Er spricht zu Jerusalem: Werde bewohnt, und zu den Städten Jehudahs: Werdet gebaut, und seine Verödungen richte Ich auf.
Who establisheth the word of his servant, And performeth the purpose of his messengers; Who saith of Jerusalem, “She shall be inhabited,” And of the cities of Judah, “They shall be built,” And, “Her desolated places I will restore.”
27 Zum Schlunde spreche Ich: Vertrockne! Und deine Flüsse trockne Ich aus.
Who saith to the deep, “Be dry! I will dry up thy streams!”
28 Ich spreche zu Koresch: Mein Hirte! Und er vollbringt alles, wozu Ich Lust habe; und zu Jerusalem spreche Ich: Werde gebaut! und zu dem Tempel: Werde gegründet!
Who saith of Cyrus, “He is my shepherd; He shall perform all my pleasure”; Who saith of Jerusalem, “She shall be built,” And of the temple, “Her foundation shall be laid.”
