1 Mose 43
1 Und die Hungersnot war schwer im Lande.
And the famine [is] severe in the land;
2 Und es geschah, als sie das Getreide, das sie aus Ägypten gebracht, aufgezehrt hatten, da sprach ihr Vater zu ihnen: Gehet zurück und kaufet uns ein wenig zu essen.
and it cometh to pass, when they have finished eating the corn which they brought from Egypt, that their father saith unto them, 'Turn back, buy for us a little food.'
3 Und Judah sprach zu ihm und sagte: Der Mann hat uns höchlich bezeugt und gesagt: Ihr sollt mein Angesicht nicht sehen, wofern nicht euer Bruder mit euch ist.
And Judah speaketh unto him, saying, 'The man protesting protested to us, saying, Ye do not see my face without your brother [being] with you;
4 Ist es nun, daß du unseren Bruder mit uns sendest, so wollen wir hinabgehen und dir Speise kaufen.
if thou art sending our brother with us, we go down, and buy for thee food,
5 Sendest du ihn aber nicht, so gehen wir nicht hinab; denn der Mann hat uns gesagt: Ihr sollt mein Angesicht nicht sehen, es sei den euer Bruder mit euch.
and if thou art not sending — we do not go down, for the man said unto us, Ye do not see my face without your brother [being] with you.'
6 Und Israel sprach: Warum habt ihr so übel an mir getan, daß ihr dem Manne ansagtet, ihr hättet noch einen Bruder?
And Israel saith, 'Why did ye evil to me, by declaring to the man that ye had yet a brother?'
7 Und sie sprachen: Der Mann hat uns über uns und unsre Geburt gefragt und gesagt: Lebt euer Vater noch? Habt ihr einen Bruder? Und wir sagten ihm an, gemäß diesen Worten. Konnten wir irgendwie wissen, daß er sagen würde: Bringet euren Bruder herab?
and they say, 'The man asked diligently concerning us, and concerning our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye a brother? and we declare to him according to the tenor of these things; do we certainly know that he will say, Bring down your brother?'
8 Und Judah sprach zu Israel, seinem Vater: Sende den Jungen mit mir, und wir machen uns auf und gehen, daß wir leben und nicht sterben, beides, wir und du und unsre Kindlein.
And Judah saith unto Israel his father, 'Send the youth with me, and we arise, and go, and live, and do not die, both we, and thou, and our infants.
9 Ich verbürge mich für ihn, von meiner Hand sollst du ihn fordern. Wenn ich ihn nicht zu dir herbringe und dir ihn vor das Angesicht stelle, so will ich alle Tage an dir gesündigt haben.
I — I am surety [for] him, from my hand thou dost require him; if I have not brought him in unto thee, and set him before thee — then I have sinned against thee all the days;
10 Denn hätten wir nicht gezaudert, schon diese zweimal wären wir zurückgekehrt.
for if we had not lingered, surely now we had returned these two times.'
11 Und Israel, ihr Vater, sprach zu ihnen: Wenn dem nun so ist, so tut es, nehmet von dem Gepriesenen des Landes in eure Gefäße, und bringt dem Manne ein Geschenk hinab, ein wenig Balsam und ein wenig Honig und Harz und Stakte, Terebinthennüsse und Mandeln.
And Israel their father saith unto them, 'If so, now, this do: take of the praised thing of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts and almonds;
12 Und an Silber nehmet das Doppelte in eure Hand, und das Silber, das in die Öffnung eurer Mantelsäcke zurückgegeben wurde, bringt zurück in eurer Hand, vielleicht ist es ein Versehen.
and double money take in your hand, even the money which is brought back in the mouth of your bags, ye take back in your hand, it may be it [is] an oversight.
13 Und euren Bruder nehmet, und macht euch auf und kehrt zu dem Manne zurück.
'And take your brother, and rise, turn back unto the man;
14 Und Gott Schaddai gebe euch Erbarmungen vor dem Manne, daß er euch entlasse euern andern Bruder und Benjamin; und ich, sei ich denn kinderlos, wie ich kinderlos sein soll!
and God Almighty give to you mercies before the man, so that he hath sent to you your other brother and Benjamin; and I, when I am bereaved — I am bereaved.'
15 Und die Männer nahmen dieses Geschenk und das Doppelte des Silbers nahmen sie in ihre Hand, und Benjamin, und sie machten sich auf und gingen hinab nach Ägypten und standen vor Joseph.
And the men take this present, double money also they have taken in their hand, and Benjamin; and they rise, and go down to Egypt, and stand before Joseph;
16 Und Joseph sah Benjamin mit ihnen und sprach zu dem, der über sein Haus war: Bringe die Männer herein ins Haus und schlachte und bereite; denn die Männer sollen mit mir essen am Mittag.
and Joseph seeth Benjamin with them, and saith to him who [is] over his house, 'Bring the men into the house, and slaughter an animal, and make ready, for with me do the men eat at noon.'
17 Und der Mann tat, wie Joseph sagte; und der Mann brachte die Männer herein in Josephs Haus.
And the man doth as Joseph hath said, and the man bringeth in the men into the house of Joseph,
18 Die Männer aber fürchteten sich, daß sie in Josephs Haus hereingebracht wurden und sprachen: Wegen des Silbers, das im Anbeginn wieder in unsre Mantelsäcke zurückkam, werden wir hereingebracht, um es auf uns zu wälzen und über uns herzufallen und uns zu Knechten zu nehmen und unsere Esel.
and the men are afraid because they have been brought into the house of Joseph, and they say, 'For the matter of the money which was put back in our bags at the commencement are we brought in — to roll himself upon us, and to throw himself on us, and to take us for servants — our asses also.'
19 Und sie traten herzu zu dem Manne, der über Josephs Haus war und redeten zu ihm am Eingang des Hauses;
And they come nigh unto the man who [is] over the house of Joseph, and speak unto him at the opening of the house,
20 Und sprachen: Bitte, mein Herr, wir sind im Anbeginn herabgekommen, um Speise zu kaufen.
and say, 'O, my lord, we really come down at the commencement to buy food;
21 Und es geschah, wie wir in das Nachtlager kamen und unsre Mantelsäcke öffneten, da siehe, da war eines jeden Mannes Silber in der Öffnung seines Mantelsackes, unser Silber nach seinem Gewicht, und wir bringen es hier in unserer Hand zurück.
and it cometh to pass, when we have come in unto the lodging-place, and open our bags, that lo, each one's money [is] in the mouth of his bag, our money in its weight, and we bring it back in our hand;
22 Und anderes Silber brachten wir in unsrer Hand herab, um Speise zu kaufen. Wir wissen nicht, wer unser Silber in unsre Mantelsäcke gelegt hat.
and other money have we brought down in our hand to buy food; we have not known who put our money in our bags.'
23 Und er sprach: Friede sei mit euch! Fürchtet euch nicht: Euer Gott und der Gott eures Vaters hat euch etwas Verborgenes in eure Mantelsäcke gegeben. Euer Silber ist mir zugekommen; und er brachte Simeon zu ihnen heraus.
And he saith, 'Peace to you, fear not: your God and the God of your father hath given to you hidden treasure in your bags, your money came unto me;' and he bringeth out Simeon unto them.
24 Und der Mann brachte die Männer herein in Josephs Haus, und gab Wasser und sie wuschen ihre Füße, und ihren Eseln gab er Futter.
And the man bringeth in the men into Joseph's house, and giveth water, and they wash their feet; and he giveth provender for their asses,
25 Und sie machten das Geschenk bereit bis Joseph am Mittag käme, denn sie hatten gehört, daß sie das Brot da essen sollten.
and they prepare the present until the coming of Joseph at noon, for they have heard that there they do eat bread.
26 Und Joseph kam nach Hause und sie brachten ihm das Geschenk, das in ihrer Hand war, herein ins Haus und sie beugten sich vor ihm nieder zur Erde.
And Joseph cometh into the house, and they bring to him the present which [is] in their hand, into the house, and bow themselves to him, to the earth;
27 Und er fragte nach ihrem Frieden und sprach: Und hat Frieden euer alter Vater, von dem ihr gesagt? Lebt er noch?
and he asketh of them of peace, and saith, 'Is your father well? the aged man of whom ye have spoken, is he yet alive?'
28 Und sie sagten: Dein Knecht, unser Vater, hat Frieden. Er lebt noch. Und sie verneigten sich und beugten sich nieder.
and they say, 'Thy servant our father [is] well, he is yet alive;' and they bow, and do obeisance.
29 Und er hob seine Augen auf und sah Benjamin, seinen Bruder, den Sohn seiner Mutter, und sprach: Ist dies euer kleiner Bruder, von dem ihr mir gesprochen habt? Und er sprach: Gott sei dir gnädig, mein Sohn.
And he lifteth up his eyes, and seeth Benjamin his brother, his mother's son, and saith, 'Is this your young brother, of whom ye have spoken unto me?' and he saith, 'God favour thee, my son.'
30 Und Joseph eilte; denn sein Erbarmen erregte sich für seinen Bruder, und er suchte, wo er weinte; und er ging in die Kammer hinein und weinte daselbst.
And Joseph hasteth, for his bowels have been moved for his brother, and he seeketh to weep, and entereth the inner chamber, and weepeth there;
31 Und er wusch sein Gesicht und kam heraus, und hielt an sich und sprach: Setzet Brot auf.
and he washeth his face, and goeth out, and refraineth himself, and saith, 'Place bread.'
32 Und sie legten ihm besonders vor, und ihnen besonders, und den Ägyptern, die mit ihm aßen, besonders; denn die Ägypter können nicht Brot essen mit den Hebräern, weil dies den Ägyptern ein Greuel ist.
And they place for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians who are eating with him by themselves: for the Egyptians are unable to eat bread with the Hebrews, for it [is] an abomination to the Egyptians.
33 Und sie saßen vor ihm, der Erstgeborene nach seiner Erstgeburt und der Jüngste nach seiner Jugend; und die Männer verwunderten sich, jeder Mann zu seinem Genossen.
And they sit before him, the first-born according to his birthright, and the young one according to his youth, and the men wonder one at another;
34 Und man hob Gerichte von seinem Angesichte weg vor sie hin, aber Benjamins Gericht war fünfmal mehr denn das Gericht von ihnen allen. Und sie tranken und wurden trunken mit ihm.
and he lifteth up gifts from before him unto them, and the gift of Benjamin is five hands more than the gifts of all of them; and they drink, yea, they drink abundantly with him.
