1 Mose 31

1 Und er hörte die Worte der Söhne Labans, die sagten: Jakob hat alles, was unseres Vaters war, genommen, und von dem, was unseres Vaters war, hat er sich all diese Herrlichkeit gemacht.

And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob has taken away all that was our father's, and he has gotten all this glory of that which was our father's.

2 Und Jakob sah das Angesicht Labans, und siehe, es war nicht mehr mit ihm wie gestern und ehegestern.

And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as beforetime.

3 Und Jehovah sprach zu Jakob: Kehre zurück in das Land deiner Väter und in deinen Geburtsort, und Ich will mit dir sein.

And Jehovah said to Jacob, Return to the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred, and I will be with thee.

4 Und Jakob sandte und rief Rachel und Leah ins Feld zu seinem Kleinvieh;

And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field to his flock,

5 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ich sehe, daß eures Vaters Angesicht gegen mich nicht ist wie gestern und ehegestern: und der Gott meines Vaters ist mit mir gewesen.

and said to them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as beforetime, but the God of my father has been with me.

6 Und ihr wisset, daß ich mit all meiner Kraft eurem Vater gedient habe.

And ye know that with all my power I have served your father.

7 Aber euer Vater hat mich hintergangen und meinen Lohn zehnmal abgeändert; aber Gott gab nicht zu, daß er mir Böses täte.

And your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me.

8 Wenn er sagte: Gesprenkelte seien dein Lohn, so hat alles Kleinvieh bunte geboren.

If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages, then all the flock bore speckled, and if he said thus, The ringstreaked shall be thy wages, then all the flock bore ringstreaked.

9 Und Gott entriß die Viehherden eures Vaters und gab sie mir.

Thus God has taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

10 Und es geschah zur Zeit der Brunst des Kleinviehs, daß ich meine Augen aufhob und sah im Traum, und siehe: die Böcke, welche das Kleinvieh besprangen, waren bunt und gesprenkelt und getüpfelt.

And it came to pass at the time that the flock conceive, that I lifted up my eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the he-goats which leaped upon the flock were ringstreaked, speckled, and grizzled.

11 Und der Engel Gottes sprach zu mir im Traum: Jakob! Und ich sprach: Siehe, hier bin ich!

And the agent of God said to me in the dream, Jacob. And I said, Here I am.

12 Und Er sprach: Hebe doch deine Augen auf und siehe: Alle Böcke, welche das Kleinvieh bespringen, sind bunt und gesprenkelt und getüpfelt; denn Ich habe alles gesehen, was Laban dir tut.

And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the he-goats which leap upon the flock are ringstreaked, speckled, and grizzled, for I have seen all that Laban does to thee.

13 Ich bin der Gott Bethels, woselbst du die Denksäule gesalbt, woselbst du Mir ein Gelübde gelobtest. Mache dich nun auf gehe aus von diesem Lande, und kehre nach dem Lande deiner Geburt zurück.

I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointed a pillar, where thou vowed a vow to me. Now arise, get thee out from this land, and return to the land of thy nativity.

14 Und Rachel und Leah antworteten und sprachen zu ihm: Haben wir noch ein Teil und Erbe in unseres Vaters Haus?

And Rachel and Leah answered and said to him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?

15 Wird unser von ihm nicht als der Auswärtigen gedacht? denn er hat uns verkauft, und unser Silber verzehrt.

Are we not accounted by him as foreigners? For he has sold us, and has also quite devoured our money.

16 Denn aller Reichtum, den Gott unsrem Vater entrissen hat, gehört uns und unseren Söhnen. Und nun, alles, was Gott zu dir gesprochen hat, das tue.

For all the riches which God has taken away from our father, that is ours and our children's. Now then, whatever God has said to thee, do.

17 Und Jakob machte sich auf und hob seine Söhne und seine Weiber auf die Kamele.

Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon the camels.

18 Und trieb hinweg all seine Viehherden und all seine Habe, die er gewonnen, und die Viehherden, die er erworben, so er in Padan Aram gewonnen; um zu Isaak, seinem Vater, in das Land Kanaan zu kommen.

And he carried away all his cattle, and all his substance which he had gathered, the cattle of his getting, which he had gathered in Paddan-aram, to go to Isaac his father to the land of Canaan.

19 Laban aber war gegangen, sein Kleinvieh zu scheren, und Rachel stahl die Theraphim, die ihrem Vater gehörten.

Now Laban was gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel stole the teraphim that were her father's.

20 Und Jakob stahl das Herz Labans, des Aramiters, indem er ihm nicht ansagte, daß er entweiche.

And Jacob slipped away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he did not tell him that he fled.

21 Und er entwich, er und alles, das er hatte, und machte sich auf und setzte über den Fluß und richtete sein Angesicht nach dem Berge Gilead.

So he fled with all that he had. And he rose up, and passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilead.

22 Und man sagte am dritten Tage Laban an, daß Jakob entwichen sei.

And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob had fled.

23 Und er nahm seine Brüder mit sich, und setze ihm nach sieben Tagereisen, und holte ihn ein am Berge Gilead.

And he took his brothers with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey, and he overtook him in the mountain of Gilead.

24 Gott aber kam zu dem Aramiter Laban im Traum in der Nacht und sprach zu ihm: Hüte dich, daß du nicht mit Jakob vom Guten bis zum Bösen redest.

And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night, and said to him, Take heed to thyself that thou not speak to Jacob either good or bad.

25 Und Laban erreichte den Jakob. Jakob aber hatte sein Zelt auf dem Berge aufgeschlagen, und Laban schlug mit seinen Brüdern sein Zelt auf dem Berge Gilead auf.

And Laban came up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain. And Laban encamped with his brothers in the mountain of Gilead.

26 Und Laban sprach zu Jakob: Was hast du getan, und hast mein Herz gestohlen und meine Töchter wie mit dem Schwert gefangen weggeführt?

And Laban said to Jacob, What have thou done, that thou have slipped away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters as captives of the sword?

27 Warum bist du heimlich entwichen, und hast mich bestohlen und mir nicht angesagt, auf daß ich dich mit Fröhlichkeit und mit Gesängen, mit Pauke und mit Harfe entlassen hätte?

Why did thou flee secretly, and creep away from me, and did not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth and with songs, with tambourine and with harp,

28 Und hast mir nicht gestattet meine Söhne und meine Töchter zu küssen? Nun hast du närrisch gehandelt in deinem Tun.

and did not allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters? Now thou have done foolishly.

29 Es wäre bei Gott in meiner Hand, euch Böses zu tun, aber der Gott eures Vaters hat gestern Nacht zu mir gesprochen und gesagt: Hüte dich mit Jakob vom Guten bis zum Bösen zu reden.

It is in the power of my hand to do you harm, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, Take heed to thyself that thou not speak to Jacob either good or bad.

30 Und nun, bist du gegangen, weil du dir das Haus deines Vaters ersehnt hast - warum aber hast du mir meine Götter gestohlen?

And now, though thou have certainly gone, because thou have been very desirous for thy father's house, yet why have thou stolen my gods?

31 Und Jakob antwortete und sprach zu Laban: Weil ich fürchtete und sprach: Daß du mir deine Töchter nicht entreißest.

And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid, for I said, Lest thou should take thy daughters from me by force.

32 Bei wem du aber deine Götter findest, der soll nicht am Leben bleiben vor unseren Brüdern. Besieh dir, was ich bei mir habe, und nimm es dir. Denn Jakob wußte nicht, daß Rachel sie gestohlen hatte.

With whomever thou find thy gods, he shall not live. Before our brothers discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.

33 Und Laban kam in das Zelt Jakobs und in das Zelt Leahs und in das Zelt der beiden Mägde und fand nichts. Und er ging heraus von dem Zelte Leahs und kam in Rachels Zelt.

And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the tent of the two maid-servants, but he did not find them. And he went out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

34 Rachel aber hatte die Theraphim genommen und unter die Kamelsstreue gelegt und saß darauf. Und Laban betastete alles im Zelt und fand nicht.

Now Rachel had taken the teraphim, and put them in the camel's saddle, and sat upon them. And Laban felt around all the tent, but did not find them.

35 Und sie sprach zu ihrem Vater: Es entbrenne nicht Zorn in den Augen meines Herrn, daß ich nicht aufzustehen vermag vor dir, denn es geht mir nach der Weiber Weise; und er durchsuchte es, fand aber die Theraphim nicht.

And she said to her father, Let not my lord be angry that I cannot rise up before thee, for the manner of women is upon me. And he searched, but did not find the teraphim.

36 Und Jakob entbrannte und er haderte mit Laban; und Jakob antwortete und sprach zu Laban: Was ist meine Übertretung, was ist meine Sünde, daß du hinter mir nachgejagt?

And Jacob was angry, and chided with Laban. And Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? What is my sin that thou have hotly pursued after me?

37 Du hast alle meine Gefäße betastet, was hast du von allen Gefäßen deines Hauses gefunden? Lege es her hier vor meine Brüder und vor deine Brüder, sie mögen bestimmen zwischen uns beiden!

Whereas thou have felt around all my stuff, what have thou found of all thy household stuff? Set it here before my brothers and thy brothers, that they may judge between us two.

38 Diese zwanzig Jahre bin ich bei dir gewesen. Deine Mutterschafe und deine Ziegen haben nicht fehlgeboren, und die Widder deines Kleinviehs habe ich nicht gegessen.

These twenty years I have been with thee, thy ewes and thy she-goats have not cast their young, and I have not eaten the rams of thy flocks.

39 Das Zerfleischte habe ich dir nicht hereingebracht; ich habe es erstattet. Von meiner Hand hast du gesucht das bei Tag Gestohlene und das bei Nacht Gestohlene.

I did not bring to thee that which was torn by beasts; I bore the loss of it, of my hand thou required it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.

40 Und so bin ich gewesen, bei Tag verzehrte mich die Hitze, und der Frost bei Nacht; und der Schlaf entfloh von meinen Augen.

Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night, and my sleep fled from my eyes.

41 Diese zwanzig Jahre sind es, daß ich in deinem Hause diente, vierzehn Jahre um deine zwei Töchter und sechs Jahre um dein Kleinvieh, und zehn Mal hast du meinen Lohn abgeändert.

These twenty years I have been in thy house. I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock. And thou have changed my wages ten times.

42 Wäre nicht der Gott meines Vaters, der Gott Abrahams, und der Schauer Isaaks mit mir gewesen, du hättest mich jetzt leer entsandt. Mein Elend und die Ermüdung meiner Hände hat Gott gesehen, und gestern Nacht hat Er es gerügt.

Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now thou would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked thee last night.

43 Und Laban antwortete und sprach zu Jakob: Die Töchter sind meine Töchter und die Söhne sind meine Söhne, und das Kleinvieh ist mein Kleinvieh, und alles, was du siehst, ist mein. Aber meinen Töchtern, was sollte ich ihnen heute tun, oder ihren Söhnen, die sie geboren?

And Laban answered and said to Jacob, The daughters are my daughters, and the sons are my sons, and the flocks are my flocks, and all that thou see is mine. And what can I do this day to these my daughters, or to their sons whom they have borne?

44 Und nun, geh zu, wir wollen einen Bund schließen, ich und du, und er soll zum Zeugnis sein zwischen mir und zwischen dir.

And now come, let us make a covenant, I and thou, and let it be for a witness between me and thee.

45 Und Jakob nahm einen Stein und richtete ihn zu einer Denksäule empor.

And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

46 Und Jakob sprach zu seinen Brüdern: Leset Steine auf, und sie nahmen Steine und machten einen Haufen, und aßen dort über dem Haufen.

And Jacob said to his brothers, Gather stones, and they took stones, and made a heap. And they ate there by the heap.

47 Und Laban nannte ihn Jegar Sahaduta und Jakob nannte ihn Gal-Eed.

And Laban called it Jegar-saha-dutha, but Jacob called it Galeed.

48 Und Laban sprach: Dieser Haufen sei Zeuge zwischen mir und dir an diesem Tage. Daher hieß man ihn Gal-Eed.

And Laban said, This heap is witness between me and thee this day. Therefore the name of it was called Galeed,

49 Und auch Mizpah denn er sagte: Jehovah wache zwischen mir und zwischen dir, wenn einer wird dem andern verborgen sein.

and Mizpah. For he said, May Jehovah watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another,

50 Denn so du bedrückest meine Töchter und so du Weiber zu meinen Töchtern nimmst, während kein Mann bei uns ist; siehe, so ist Gott Zeuge zwischen mir und zwischen dir.

if thou will afflict my daughters, and if thou will take wives besides my daughters, no man is with us, see, God is witness between me and thee.

51 Und Laban sprach zu Jakob: Siehe diesen Haufen und siehe die Denksäule, die ich aufgeworfen zwischen mir und zwischen dir.

And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold the pillar, which I have set between me and thee.

52 Zeuge sei dieser Haufen und Zeuge die Denksäule, ob ich nicht über diesen Haufen hinziehe gegen dich, und ob du nicht über diesen Haufen und die Denksäule da hinziehest gegen mich zum Bösen.

This heap is witness, and the pillar is witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shall not pass over this heap and this pillar to me, for harm.

53 Der Gott Abrahams und der Gott Nachors soll richten zwischen uns, der Gott ihres Vaters; und Jakob schwur bei dem Schauer seines Vaters Isaak.

The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us. And Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.

54 Und Jakob brachte ein Opfer auf dem Berge und rief seine Brüder, Brot zu essen, und sie aßen Brot und übernachteten auf dem Berge.

And Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain, and called his brothers to eat bread. And they ate bread, and tarried all night on the mountain.

55 Und Laban stand frühe am Morgen auf, und küßte seine Söhne und seine Töchter und segnete sie; und Laban ging und kehrte zurück an seinen Ort.

And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them. And Laban departed and returned to his place.
