1 Mose 29
1 Und Jakob hob seine Füße auf, und ging nach dem Lande der Söhne des Ostens.
And Jacob lifteth up his feet, and goeth towards the land of the sons of the east;
2 Und er sah, und siehe, ein Brunnen auf dem Felde, und siehe, dabei waren drei Herden Kleinvieh gelagert; denn von diesem Brunnen tränkten sie die Herden; und ein großer Stein war auf der Mündung des Brunnens.
and he looketh, and lo, a well in the field, and lo, there three droves of a flock crouching by it, for from that well they water the droves, and the great stone [is] on the mouth of the well.
3 Und dorthin versammelten sich alle Herden, und sie wälzten den Stein von der Mündung des Brunnens und tränkten das Kleinvieh, und brachten den Stein zurück auf die Mündung des Brunnens an seinen Ort.
(When thither have all the droves been gathered, and they have rolled the stone from off the mouth of the well, and have watered the flock, then they have turned back the stone on the mouth of the well to its place.)
4 Und Jakob sprach zu ihnen: Meine Brüder, woher seid ihr? Und sie sprachen: Von Charan sind wir.
And Jacob saith to them, 'My brethren, from whence [are] ye?' and they say, 'We [are] from Haran.'
5 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Kennet ihr Laban, den Sohn Nachors? Und sie sprachen: Wir kennen ihn.
And he saith to them, 'Have ye known Laban, son of Nahor?' and they say, 'We have known.'
6 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Hat er Frieden? Und sie sprachen: Frieden; und siehe, Rachel, seine Tochter, kommt mit dem Kleinvieh.
And he saith to them, 'Hath he peace?' and they say, 'Peace; and lo, Rachel his daughter is coming with the flock.'
7 Und er sprach: Siehe, der Tag ist noch lang, es ist nicht die Zeit, die Viehherden zu versammeln. Tränket das Kleinvieh und gehet, weidet.
And he saith, 'Lo, the day [is] still great, [it is] not time for the cattle to be gathered; water ye the flock, and go, delight yourselves.'
8 Und sie sprachen: Wir können nicht, bevor die Herden alle versammelt sind, da wälzen sie den Stein von der Mündung des Brunnens und wir tränken das Kleinvieh.
And they say, 'We are not able, till that all the droves be gathered together, and they have rolled away the stone from the mouth of the well, and we have watered the flock.'
9 Noch redete er mit ihnen, da kam Rachel mit dem Kleinvieh ihres Vaters; denn sie war Hirtin.
He is yet speaking with them, and Rachel hath come with the flock which her father hath, for she [is] shepherdess;
10 Und es geschah, wie Jakob Rachel, die Tochter Labans, des Bruders seiner Mutter, und das Kleinvieh Labans, des Bruders seiner Mutter sah, da trat Jakob herzu und wälzte den Stein von der Mündung des Brunnens und tränkte das Kleinvieh Labans, des Bruders seiner Mutter.
and it cometh to pass when Jacob hath seen Rachel, daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the flock of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob cometh nigh and rolleth the stone from off the mouth of the well, and watereth the flock of Laban his mother's brother.
11 Und Jakob küßte Rachel, und hob seine Stimme auf und weinte.
And Jacob kisseth Rachel, and lifteth up his voice, and weepeth,
12 Und Jakob sagte der Rachel an, daß er ein Bruder ihres Vaters und ein Sohn Rebekahs sei. Und sie lief und sagte es ihrem Vater an.
and Jacob declareth to Rachel that he [is] her father's brother, and that he [is] Rebekah's son, and she runneth and declareth to her father.
13 Und es geschah, als Laban die Kunde von Jakob, dem Sohne seiner Schwerster, hörte, da lief er ihm entgegen und umarmte ihn und küßte ihn, und brachte ihn in sein Haus herein. Und er erzählte Laban alle diese Worte.
And it cometh to pass, when Laban heareth the report of Jacob his sister's son, that he runneth to meet him, and embraceth him, and kisseth him, and bringeth him in unto his house; and he recounteth to Laban all these things,
14 Und Laban sprach zu ihm: Fürwahr, du bist mein Bein und mein Fleisch, und er wohnte bei ihm einen Monat von Tagen.
and Laban saith to him, 'Only my bone and my flesh [art] thou;' and he dwelleth with him a month of days.
15 Und Laban sprach zu Jakob: Solltest du, weil du mein Bruder bist, mir umsonst dienen? Sage mir an, was soll dein Lohn sein?
And Laban saith to Jacob, 'Is it because thou [art] my brother that thou hast served me for nought? declare to me what [is] thy hire.'
16 Und Laban hatte zwei Töchter, die ältere mit Namen Leah und die Jüngere mit Namen Rachel.
And Laban hath two daughters, the name of the elder [is] Leah, and the name of the younger Rachel,
17 Und Leahs Augen waren blöde, Rachel aber war schön von Gestalt und schön von Ansehen.
and the eyes of Leah [are] tender, and Rachel hath been fair of form and fair of appearance.
18 Und Jakob liebte Rachel und sprach: Ich will dir sieben Jahre um Rachel, deine jüngste Tochter, dienen.
And Jacob loveth Rachel, and saith, 'I serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter:'
19 Und Laban sprach: Es ist besser, ich gebe sie dir, als daß ich sie einem anderen Manne gebe; bleibe bei mir.
and Laban saith, 'It is better for me to give her to thee than to give her to another man; dwell with me;'
20 Und Jakob diente um Rachel sieben Jahre; und sie waren in seinen Augen wie einige Tage, in seiner Liebe für sie.
and Jacob serveth for Rachel seven years; and they are in his eyes as some days, because of his loving her.
21 Und Jakob sprach zu Laban: Gib mir mein Weib; denn meine Tage sind erfüllt, daß ich zu ihr komme.
And Jacob saith unto Laban, 'Give up my wife, for my days have been fulfilled, and I go in unto her;'
22 Und Laban versammelte alle Männer des Ortes und machte ein Gastmahl.
and Laban gathereth all the men of the place, and maketh a banquet.
23 Und es geschah am Abend, da nahm er Leah, seine Tochter, und brachte sie zu ihm hinein, und er ging zu ihr ein.
And it cometh to pass in the evening, that he taketh Leah, his daughter, and bringeth her in unto him, and he goeth in unto her;
24 Und Laban gab ihr Silpah seine Dienstmagd, seiner Tochter Leah zur Dienstmagd.
and Laban giveth to her Zilpah, his maid-servant, to Leah his daughter, a maid-servant.
25 Und es war am Morgen - siehe, da war es Leah. Und er sprach zu Laban: Warum hast du mir das getan? Habe ich nicht bei dir um Rachel gedient, und warum hast du mich betrogen?
And it cometh to pass in the morning, that lo, it [is] Leah; and he saith unto Laban, 'What [is] this thou hast done to me? for Rachel have I not served with thee? and why hast thou deceived me?'
26 Und Laban sprach: Man tut nicht also in unserem Orte, daß man die Jüngere gibt vor der Erstgeborenen.
And Laban saith, 'It is not done so in our place, to give the younger before the first-born;
27 Erfülle diese Woche, dann wollen wir dir auch diese geben um den Dienst, den du bei mir noch andere sieben Jahre dienen sollst.
fulfil the week of this one, and we give to thee also this one, for the service which thou dost serve with me yet seven other years.'
28 Und Jakob tat also, und erfüllte diese Woche, und er gab ihm Rachel, seine Tochter, ihm zum Weibe.
And Jacob doth so, and fulfilleth the week of this one, and he giveth to him Rachel his daughter, to him for a wife;
29 Und Laban gab Rachel, seiner Tochter, seine Dienstmagd Bilhah, ihr zur Dienstmagd.
and Laban giveth to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his maid-servant, for a maid-servant to her.
30 Und er kam auch zu Rachel und liebte auch die Rachel mehr denn die Leah, und diente bei ihm noch andere sieben Jahre.
And he goeth in also unto Rachel, and he also loveth Rachel more than Leah; and he serveth with him yet seven other years.
31 Und Jehovah sah, daß Leah gehaßt wurde und Er öffnete ihren Mutterschoß, Rachel aber war unfruchtbar.
And Jehovah seeth that Leah [is] the hated one, and He openeth her womb, and Rachel [is] barren;
32 Und Leah empfing und gebar einen Sohn und sie nannte seinen Namen Ruben; denn, sprach sie, Jehovah hat mein Elend gesehen. Denn jetzt wird mich mein Mann lieben.
and Leah conceiveth, and beareth a son, and calleth his name Reuben, for she said, 'Because Jehovah hath looked on mine affliction; because now doth my husband love me.'
33 Und sie empfing wieder und gebar einen Sohn, und sprach: Jehovah hat gehört, daß ich gehaßt bin und hat mir auch diesen gegeben, und nannte seinen Namen Schimeon.
And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith, 'Because Jehovah hath heard that I [am] the hated one, He also giveth to me even this [one];' and she calleth his name Simeon.
34 Und sie empfing wieder und gebar einen Sohn, und sprach: Jetzt, diesmal wird mein Mann mir anhangen, denn ich habe ihm drei Söhne geboren; deshalb nannte sie seinen Namen Levi.
And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith, 'Now [is] the time, my husband is joined unto me, because I have born to him three sons,' therefore hath [one] called his name Levi.
35 Und sie empfing wieder und gebar einen Sohn, und sprach: Diesmal bekenne ich Jehovah; daher nannte sie seinen Namen Jehudah, und sie hörte auf zu gebären.
And she conceiveth again, and beareth a son, and saith this time, 'I praise Jehovah;' therefore hath she called his name Judah; and she ceaseth from bearing.
