Hesekiel 31
1 Und es geschah im elften Jahr am ersten des dritten Monats, daß das Wort Jehovahs an mich geschah, sprechend:
And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
2 Menschensohn, sprich zu Pharao, dem Könige Ägyptens, und zu seiner Volksmenge: Wem gleichst du in deiner Größe?
'Son of man, say unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: whom art thou like in thy greatness?
3 Siehe, Aschur war eine Zeder auf dem Libanon, schön von Ästen und schattigem Laubwerk und hoch von Wuchs, und zwischen dichten Zweigen war sein Wipfel.
Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon, with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of a high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs.
4 Wasser machten sie groß, der Abgrund ließ sie sich emporheben, daß er mit seinen Flüssen rings um ihre Pflanzung ging und ihre Kanäle zu allen Bäumen des Feldes sandte.
The waters nourished it, the deep made it to grow; her rivers ran round about her plantation, and she sent out her conduits unto all the trees of the field.
5 Darum ward hoch ihr Wuchs vor allen Bäumen des Feldes und ihres Gezweiges wurde viel und ihre Zweige lang von den vielen Wassern, als sie sie aussandte.
Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long, because of the multitude of waters, when it shot them forth.
6 Auf ihrem Gezweige nistete alles Gevögel des Himmels, und unter ihren Zweigen gebar alles wilde Tier des Feldes, und unter ihrem Schatten saßen all die vielen Völkerschaften.
All the fowls of heaven made their nests in its boughs, and all the beasts of the field did bring forth their young under its branches, and under its shadow dwelt all great nations.
7 Und sie war schön in ihrer Größe, mit ihren langen Schossen; denn ihre Wurzel war an vielen Wassern.
Thus was it fair in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters.
8 Die Zedern mochten sie nicht verdecken im Garten Gottes, die Tannen waren ihr nicht zu gleichen mit ihrem Gezweige, und Platanen waren nicht wie ihre Zweige. Kein Baum im Garten Gottes war ihr an Schönheit gleich.
The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it; the cypress-trees were not like its boughs, and the plane-trees were not as its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like unto it in its beauty.
9 Schön hatte Ich sie gemacht in ihrer Schosse Menge, und alle Bäume Edens im Garten Gottes beneideten dieselbe.
I made it fair by the multitude of its branches; so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.
10 Darum, so spricht der Herr Jehovah: Weil sie hoch war an Wuchs und ihr Wipfel zwischen den dichten Zweigen war, und ihr Herz ob ihrer Höhe sich emporhob,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Because thou art exalted in stature, and he hath set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
11 So gebe Ich ihn in die Hand des Starken der Völkerschaften; er wird es an ihm tun, und ob seiner Ungerechtigkeit treibe Ich ihn fort.
I do even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations; he shall surely deal with him; I do drive him out according to his wickedness.
12 Und Fremde rotten sie aus, die Gewaltigen der Völkerschaften, und lassen sie fahren. Auf die Berge und in alle Schluchten fallen ihre Schosse und ihre Zweige zerbrechen in allen Flußbetten des Landes; und alle Völker der Erde zogen herab aus ihrem Schatten und ließen sie fahren.
And strangers, the terrible of the nations, do cut him off, and cast him down; upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs lie broken in all the channels of the land; and all the peoples of the earth do go down from his shadow, and do leave him.
13 Auf seinem umgefallenen Stamme wohnt alles Gevögel der Himmel, und auf seinen Zweigen war alles wilde Tier des Feldes.
Upon his carcass all the fowls of the heaven do dwell, and upon his branches are all the beasts of the field;
14 Auf daß nicht hoffärtig seien in ihrem Wuchse alle Bäume der Wasser, und ihren Wipfel nicht zwischen den dichten Gezweigen erheben, und nicht zu ihnen stehen wegen ihrer Höhe alle, die da Wasser trinken; denn sie alle werden dem Tode gegeben in die untere Erde inmitten der Menschensöhne, zu denen, die in die Grube hinabfahren.
to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, neither set their top among the thick boughs, nor that their mighty ones stand up in their height, even all that drink water; for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
15 So spricht der Herr Jehovah: Am Tage, da er in die Hölle hinunterfährt, lasse Ich trauern, lasse Ich sich bedecken über ihn den Abgrund, und halte ab seine Flüsse, daß den vielen Wassern gewehrt werde, und lasse sich verdunkeln über ihm den Libanon, und alle Bäume des Feldes um ihn schmachten. Thus saith the Lord GOD: In the day when he went down to the nether-world I caused the deep to mourn and cover itself for him, and I restrained the rivers thereof, and the great waters were stayed; and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. (Sheol h7585)
16 Vor dem Getöse seines Falls lasse Ich die Völkerschaften erbeben, wenn Ich ihn in die Hölle fahren lasse mit denen, die zur Grube hinabfahren, und in der unteren Erde trösten sich alle Bäume Edens, das Auserwählte und das Beste des Libanon, alle, die Wasser trinken. (Sheol h7585)
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to the nether-world with them that descend into the pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether parts of the earth. (Sheol h7585)
17 Auch sie fahren mit ihm hinab zur Hölle, zu den durch das Schwert Erschlagenen, die als sein Arm gesessen in seinem Schatten inmitten der Völkerschaften. (Sheol h7585)
They also went down into the nether-world with him unto them that are slain by the sword; yea, they that were in his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the nations. (Sheol h7585)
18 Wem gleichst du also an Herrlichkeit und Größe unter den Bäumen Edens, und hinabgestoßen wirst du mit den Bäumen Edens zur unteren Erde; inmitten der Unbeschnittenen liegst du mit den durch das Schwert Erschlagenen, das ist Pharao und alle seine Volksmenge, spricht der Herr Jehovah.
To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shall thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth; thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, with them that are slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.'
