2 Mose 4

1 Und Mose antwortete und sprach: Aber siehe, sie werden mir nicht glauben und nicht auf meine Stimme hören; denn sie werden sagen: Jehovah ist dir nicht erschienen.

And Moses answereth and saith, 'And, if they do not give credence to me, nor hearken to my voice, and say, Jehovah hath not appeared unto thee?'

2 Und Jehovah sprach zu ihm: Was hast du in deiner Hand? Und er sprach: Einen Stab.

And Jehovah saith unto him, 'What [is] this in thy hand?' and he saith, 'A rod;'

3 Und Er sprach: Wirf ihn zur Erde. Und er warf ihn zur Erde; und er ward zu einer Schlange und Mose floh vor ihr.

and He saith, 'Cast it to the earth;' and he casteth it to the earth, and it becometh a serpent — and Moses fleeth from its presence.

4 Und Jehovah sprach zu Mose: Strecke deine Hand aus und ergreife sie beim Schwanz. Und er streckte seine Hand aus und faßte sie fest; und sie ward zum Stab in seiner Hand:

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Put forth thy hand, and lay hold on the tail of it;' and he putteth forth his hand, and layeth hold on it, and it becometh a rod in his hand —

5 Auf daß sie glauben, daß Jehovah, der Gott ihrer Väter, der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs, dir erschienen ist.

' — so that they believe that Jehovah, God of their fathers, hath appeared unto thee, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob.'

6 Und Jehovah sprach weiter zu ihm: Strecke doch deine Hand in deinen Busen. Und er streckte seine Hand in seinen Busen und zog sie heraus und siehe! seine Hand war aussätzig, wie Schnee.

And Jehovah saith to him again, 'Put in, I pray thee, thy hand into thy bosom;' and he putteth in his hand into his bosom, and he bringeth it out, and lo, his hand [is] leprous as snow;

7 Und Er sprach: Steck deine Hand zurück in deinen Busen. Und er steckte seine Hand zurück in seinen Busen und zog sie heraus aus seinem Busen, und siehe! sie ward wieder wie sein Fleisch.

and He saith, 'Put back thy hand unto thy bosom;' and he putteth back his hand unto his bosom, and he bringeth it out from his bosom, and lo, it hath turned back as his flesh —

8 Und es soll geschehen, wenn sie dir nicht glauben, noch auf die Stimme des ersten Zeichens hören, so werden sie der Stimme des nachfolgenden Zeichens glauben.

' — and it hath come to pass, if they do not give credence to thee, and hearken not to the voice of the first sign, that they have given credence to the voice of the latter sign.

9 Und es soll geschehen, wenn sie auch diesen zwei Zeichen nicht glauben, noch auf deine Stimme hören, dann nimm von dem Wasser des Stromes und gieß es auf das Trockene, so wird das Wasser, das du aus dem Strom genommen, auf dem Trockenen zu Blut werden.

'And it hath come to pass, if they do not give credence even to these two signs, nor hearken to thy voice, that thou hast taken of the waters of the River, and hast poured on the dry land, and the waters which thou takest from the River have been, yea, they have become — blood on the dry land.'

10 Und Mose sprach zu Jehovah: Ach, Herr, ich bin kein Mann von Worten, weder gestern, noch ehegestern, noch seit Du mit deinem Knechte redest; denn ich bin schwer von Mund und schwer von Zunge.

And Moses saith unto Jehovah, 'O, my Lord, I [am] not a man of words, either yesterday, or before, or since Thy speaking unto Thy servant, for I [am] slow of mouth, and slow of tongue.'

11 Und Jehovah sprach zu ihm: Wer macht des Menschen Mund? Oder wer macht stumm oder taub oder sehend oder blind? Bin nicht Ich es, Jehovah?

And Jehovah saith unto him, 'Who appointed a mouth for man? or who appointeth the dumb, or deaf, or open, or blind? is it not I, Jehovah?

12 Und nun gehe und Ich will mit deinem Munde sein und dich unterweisen, was du reden sollst.

and now, go, and I — I am with thy mouth, and have directed thee that which thou speakest;'

13 Und er sprach: Ach, Herr sende doch, durch wessen Hand du senden willst.

and he saith, 'O, my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand Thou dost send.'

14 Und es entbrannte der Zorn Jehovahs wider Moses und Er sprach: Ist nicht Aharon, der Levite, dein Bruder? Ich weiß, daß er reden kann. Und siehe, er geht auch aus dir entgegen, und wird dich sehen und fröhlich sein in seinem Herzen.

And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Moses, and He saith, 'Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I have known that he speaketh well, and also, lo, he is coming out to meet thee; when he hath seen thee, then he hath rejoiced in his heart,

15 Und du sollst zu ihm reden und die Worte in seinen Mund legen und Ich will mit deinem Munde und mit seinem Munde sein und euch unterweisen, was ihr tun sollt.

and thou hast spoken unto him, and hast set the words in his mouth, and I — I am with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and have directed you that which ye do;

16 Und er soll für dich zum Volke reden, und es wird geschehen, daß er dein Mund ist und du ihm der Gott bist.

and he, he hath spoken for thee unto the people, and it hath come to pass, he — he is to thee for a mouth, and thou — thou art to him for God;

17 Und diesen Stab nimm in deine Hand, mit ihm sollst du die Zeichen tun.

and this rod thou dost take in thy hand, with which thou doest the signs.'

18 Und Mose ging und kehrte zu Jethro, seinem Schwäher zurück und sprach zu ihm: Laß mich doch gehen, und zu meinen Brüdern, die in Ägypten sind, zurückkehren, auf daß ich sehe, ob sie noch leben. Und Jethro sprach zu Mose: Gehe hin im Frieden.

And Moses goeth and turneth back unto Jethro his father-in-law, and saith to him, 'Let me go, I pray thee, and I turn back unto my brethren who [are] in Egypt, and I see whether they are yet alive.' And Jethro saith to Moses, 'Go in peace.'

19 Und Jehovah sprach zu Mose in Midian: Gehe, kehre zurück nach Ägypten; denn gestorben sind alle die Männer, die dir nach deiner Seele trachteten.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses in Midian, 'Go, turn back to Egypt, for all the men have died who seek thy life;'

20 Und Mose nahm sein Weib und seine Söhne und ließ sie auf dem Esel reiten, und kehrte nach Ägyptenland zurück, und Mose nahm den Stab Gottes in seine Hand.

and Moses taketh his wife, and his sons, and causeth them to ride on the ass, and turneth back to the land of Egypt, and Moses taketh the rod of God in his hand.

21 Und Jehovah sprach zu Mose: Wenn du gehst, um nach Ägypten zurückzukehren, so siehe zu, daß du alle Wahrzeichen, die Ich in deine Hand gelegt habe, vor Pharao tust. Ich aber werde sein Herz bestärken, daß er das Volk nicht entläßt.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'In thy going to turn back to Egypt, see — all the wonders which I have put in thy hand — that thou hast done them before Pharaoh, and I — I strengthen his heart, and he doth not send the people away;

22 Und du sollst zu Pharao sprechen: Also spricht Jehovah: Mein Sohn, Mein Erstgeborener, ist Israel.

and thou hast said unto Pharaoh, Thus said Jehovah, My son, My first-born [is] Israel,

23 Und Ich sage dir: Entlasse Meinen Sohn, auf daß er Mir diene. Weigerst du dich aber, ihn zu entlassen, siehe, so erwürge Ich deinen Sohn, deinen Erstgeborenen.

and I say unto thee, Send away My son, and he doth serve Me; and — thou dost refuse to send him away — lo, I am slaying thy son, thy first-born.'

24 Und es geschah auf dem Wege in dem Nachtlager, daß Jehovah auf ihn traf und trachtete ihn zu töten.

And it cometh to pass in the way, in a lodging place, that Jehovah meeteth him, and seeketh to put him to death;

25 Und Zipporah nahm einen Stein und beschnitt die Vorhaut ihres Sohnes und ließ sie seine Füße berühren und sprach: Ein Bräutigam des Blutes bist du mir.

and Zipporah taketh a flint, and cutteth off the foreskin of her son, and causeth [it] to touch his feet, and saith, 'Surely a bridegroom of blood [art] thou to me;'

26 Und Er ließ von ihm ab; da sagte sie: Ein Bräutigam des Blutes um der Beschneidung willen.

and He desisteth from him: then she said, 'A bridegroom of blood,' in reference to the circumcision.

27 Und Jehovah sprach zu Aharon: Geh Mose entgegen nach der Wüste. Und er ging und traf ihn auf dem Berge Gottes und küßte ihn.

And Jehovah saith unto Aaron, 'Go to meet Moses into the wilderness;' and he goeth, and meeteth him in the mount of God, and kisseth him,

28 Und Mose sagte dem Aharon an alle Worte Jehovahs, womit Er ihn gesendet und alle Zeichen, die Er ihm geboten.

and Moses declareth to Aaron all the words of Jehovah with which He hath sent him, and all the signs with which He hath charged him.

29 Und Mose und Aharon gingen und sie versammelten alle Ältesten der Söhne Israels.

And Moses goeth — Aaron also — and they gather all the elders of the sons of Israel,

30 Und Aharon redete alle die Worte, die Jehovah zu Mose geredet hatte, und tat die Zeichen vor den Augen des Volkes.

and Aaron speaketh all the words which Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses, and doth the signs before the eyes of the people;

31 Und das Volk glaubte; und sie hörten, daß Jehovah die Söhne Israels heimgesucht und ihr Elend gesehen; und sie verneigten und sie verbeugten sich.

and the people believe when they hear that Jehovah hath looked after the sons of Israel, and that He hath seen their affliction; and they bow and do obeisance.
