2 Mose 21
1 Und dies sind die Gerichte, die du vor sie legen sollst:
And these [are] the ordinances which you shall set before them.
2 So du einen hebräischen Knecht kaufst, soll er sechs Jahre dienen und im siebenten soll er frei ausgehen umsonst.
If you buy a Hebrew servant, six years shall he serve you, and in the seventh year he shall go forth free for nothing.
3 Ist er allein gekommen, so soll er auch allein ausgehen. Ist er der Gemahl eines Weibes, so soll sein Weib mit ihm ausgehen.
If he should have come in alone, he shall also go forth alone; and if his wife should have gone in together with him, his wife also shall go out.
4 Hat ihm sein Herr ein Weib gegeben, und sie ihm Söhne oder Töchter geboren, so sei das Weib und ihre Kinder ihrem Herrn, und er geht allein aus.
Moreover, if his master give him a wife, and she have [born] him sons or daughters, the wife and the children shall be his master's; and he shall go forth alone.
5 Und wenn der Knecht spricht: Ich liebe meinen Herrn, mein Weib und meine Söhne, ich will nicht frei ausgehen;
And if the servant should answer and say, I love my master and wife and children, I will not go away free;
6 So lasse ihn sein Herr herzutreten vor Gott, und lasse ihn an die Tür oder den Türpfosten treten, und sein Herr durchbohre ihm mit einem Pfriemen das Ohr, daß er ihm diene für immer.
his master shall bring him to the judgment-seat of God, and then shall he bring him to the door, —to the door-post, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him for ever.
7 Und verkauft ein Mann seine Tochter als Magd, so soll sie nicht ausgehen, wie die Knechte ausgehen.
And if any one sell his daughter as a domestic, she shall not depart as the maidservants depart.
8 Ist sie übel in den Augen ihres Herrn, daß er sie sich nicht antraut, so lasse er sie einlösen; an auswärtiges Volk sie zu verkaufen, soll er keine Macht haben, daß er treulos gegen sie handle.
If she be not pleasing to her master, after she has betrothed herself to him, he shall let her go free; but he is not at liberty to sell her to a foreign nation, because he has trifled with her.
9 So er sie aber seinem Sohne antraut, so soll er nach dem Gericht der Töchter an ihr tun.
And if he should have betrothed her to his son, he shall do to her according to the right of daughters.
10 Nimmt er ihm eine andere dazu, so soll er von ihrer Kost, ihrer Decke und ihrer ehelichen Pflicht nichts verringern.
And if he take another to himself, he shall not deprive her of necessaries and her apparel, and her companionship [with him].
11 Und tut er ihr diese drei nicht, so soll sie frei ohne Silber ausgehen.
And if he will not do these three things to her, she shall go out free without money.
12 Wer einen Mann schlägt, daß er stirbt, der soll des Todes sterben.
And if any man strike another and he die, let him be certainly put to death.
13 Hat er ihm aber nicht nachgestellt und ließ ihn Gott seiner Hand begegnen, so will ich dir einen Ort bestimmen, dahin er fliehen mag.
But as for him that did it not willingly, but God delivered him into his hands, I will give you a place whither the slayer may flee.
14 Vermißt sich aber ein Mann an seinem Genossen, um ihn mit List zu erwürgen, sollst du ihn von Meinem Altare wegnehmen, daß er sterbe.
And if any one lie in wait for his neighbor to kill him by craft, and he go for refuge, you shall take him from my altar to put him to death.
15 Und wer seinen Vater und seine Mutter schlägt, der soll des Todes sterben.
Whoever smites his father or his mother, let him be certainly put to death.
16 Und wer einen Mann stiehlt und ihn verkauft, und er wird in seiner Hand gefunden, der soll des Todes sterben.
He that reviles his father or his mother shall surely die.
17 Und wer seinem Vater und seiner Mutter flucht, der soll des Todes sterben.
Whosoever shall steal one of the children of Israel, and prevail over him and sell him, and he be found with him, let him certainly die.
18 Und wenn Männer miteinander hadern und ein Mann den Genossen schlägt mit einem Stein oder mit der Faust und stirbt nicht, fällt aber auf das Lager;
And if two men revile each other and strike the one the other with a stone or his fist, and he die not, but be laid upon his bed;
19 So soll, wenn er aufsteht und mit einer Stütze auf der Straße geht, der ihn schlug, ungestraft bleiben, nur für seine Versäumnis soll er ihm geben und ihn heilen lassen.
if the man arise and walk abroad on his staff, he that struck him shall be clear; only he shall pay for his loss of time, and for his healing.
20 Und schlägt ein Mann seinen Knecht, oder seine Magd mit dem Stocke, so daß er unter seiner Hand stirbt, so soll es gerächt werden.
And if a man strike his man-servant or his maidservant, with a rod, and [the party] die under his hands, he shall be surely punished.
21 Bleibt er aber noch einen oder zwei Tage, so soll es nicht gerächt werden; denn es ist sein Geld.
But if [the servant] continue to live a day or two, let not [the master] be punished; for he is his money.
22 Und wenn Männer sich zanken und stoßen ein schwangeres Weib, daß die Frucht von ihr ausgeht, aber sonst kein Unfall geschieht, so soll er um Geld gestraft werden, so viel der Gemahl des Weibes ihm auferlegt, und soll es vor Schiedsrichter geben.
And if two men strive and strike a woman with child, and her child be born imperfectly formed, he shall be forced to pay a penalty: as the woman's husband may lay upon him, he shall pay with a valuation.
23 Ist aber ein Unfall geschehen, sollst du geben Seele um Seele.
But if it be perfectly formed, he shall give life for life,
24 Auge um Auge, Zahn um Zahn, Hand um Hand, Fuß um Fuß;
eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25 Brandmal um Brandmal, Wunde um Wunde, Strieme um Strieme.
burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
26 Und schlägt ein Mann seinen Knecht ins Auge oder seine Magd ins Auge und verdirbt es, soll er ihn frei entlassen um des Auges willen.
And if one strike the eye of his man-servant, or the eye of his maidservant, and put it out, he shall let them go free for their eye's sake.
27 Und wenn einer seinem Knecht einen Zahn oder seiner Magd einen Zahn ausschlägt, so soll er ihn frei entlassen um des Zahnes willen.
And if he should strike out the tooth of his man-servant, or the tooth of his maidservant, he shall send them away free for their tooth's sake.
28 Und wenn ein Ochse einen Mann oder ein Weib stößt, so daß er stirbt, so soll der Ochse gesteinigt, sein Fleisch aber nicht gegessen werden, und der Herr des Ochsen soll ungestraft bleiben.
And if a bull gore a man or woman and they die, the bull shall be stoned with stones, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall be clear.
29 War aber der Ochse stößig seit gestern und ehegestern, und es war seinem Herrn bezeugt worden, und er hat ihn nicht verwahrt, und tötet er einen Mann oder ein Weib, so soll der Ochse gesteinigt werden und auch sein Herr sterben.
But if the bull should have been given to goring in former time, and men should have told his owner, and he have not removed him, but he should have slain a man or woman, the bull shall be stoned, and his owner shall die also.
30 Wird ihm eine Sühne auferlegt, so gebe er als Lösegeld für seine Seele, alles, was ihm auferlegt worden ist.
And if a ransom should be imposed on him, he shall pay for the ransom of his soul as much as they shall lay upon him.
31 Oder stößt er einen Sohn oder stößt er eine Tochter, so tue man ihm nach dem selbigen Gericht.
And if [the bull] gore a son or daughter, let them do to him according to this ordinance.
32 Stößt der Ochse einen Knecht oder eine Magd, so gebe er dreißig Silbersekel seinem Herrn und der Ochse werde gesteinigt.
And if the bull gore a man-servant or maidservant, he shall pay to their master thirty silver didrachmas, and the bull shall be stoned.
33 Und so ein Mann eine Grube öffnet, oder so ein Mann eine Grube gräbt, und sie nicht bedeckt, und es fällt ein Ochse oder ein Esel hinein,
And if any one open a pit or dig a cavity in stone, and cover it not, and an ox or an ass fall in there,
34 So soll der Herr der Grube Ersatz geben und seinem Herrn das Silber zurückgeben, das Tote aber gehört ihm.
the owner of the pit shall make compensation; he shall give money to their owner, and the dead shall be his own.
35 Und so eines Mannes Ochse, den Ochsen seines Genossen stößt, daß er stirbt, so sollen sie den lebendigen Ochsen verkaufen und das Silber teilen und auch den toten sollen sie teilen.
And if any man's bull gore the bull of his neighbor, and it die, they shall sell the living bull and divide the money, and they shall divide the dead bull.
36 Oder, wenn bekannt war, daß der Ochse stößig war seit gestern und ehegestern, und sein Herr ihn nicht verwahrt hatte, so soll er Ochsen für Ochsen erstatten, der tote aber soll ihm gehören.
But if the bull be known to have been given to goring in time past, and they have testified to his owner, and he have not removed him, he shall repay bull for bull, but the dead shall be his own.
