5 Mose 1
1 Dies sind die Worte, welche Mose redete zu dem ganzen Israel jenseits des Jordans in der Wüste, in dem Flachlande, Suph gegenüber, zwischen Paran und zwischen Tophel und Laban und Chazeroth und Di-Sahab.
These are the words which Moses spoke unto all Israel on this side of the Jordan, in the wilderness, in the plain opposite Suph, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Chazeroth, and Di-zahab.
2 Elf Tage sind es von Choreb auf dem Wege nach dem Gebirge Seir bis Kadesch Barnea.
It is a journey of eleven days from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea'.
3 Und es geschah im vierzigsten Jahre, im elften Monat, am ersten des Monats, daß Mose redete zu den Söhnen Israels nach alle dem, was Jehovah ihm an sie geboten hatte.
And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, according to all that the Lord had commanded him concerning them;
4 Nachdem er Sichon geschlagen, den König der Amoriter, der in Cheschbon wohnte, und Og, den König von Baschan, der in Aschtaroth bei Edrei wohnte,
After he had smitten Sichon the king of the Emorites, who dwelt in Cheshbon, and 'Og the king of Bashan, who dwelt at 'Ashtaroth in Edre'i.
5 Jenseits des Jordans im Lande Moab begann Mose dieses Gesetz zu erklären und sprach:
On this side of the Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to explain this law, saying,
6 Jehovah, unser Gott, redete zu uns auf Choreb und sprach: Ihr habt viel auf diesem Berge gewohnt.
The Lord our God spoke unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have tarried long enough at this mount;
7 Wendet euch und brechet auf und kommt zum Gebirge der Amoriter und zu allen ihren Nachbarn, in dem Flachland, auf dem Gebirge und in der Niederung und im Mittag und am Gestade des Meeres, in das Land der Kanaaniter und zum Libanon bis zum großen Flusse, dem Flusse Euphrat.
Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mountain of the Emorites, and unto all its neighboring places, in the plain, in the mountain, and in the lowlands, and in the southern country, and by the coast of the sea, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto the Lebanon, up to the great river, the river Euphrates.
8 Siehe, Ich habe das Land vor euer Angesicht gegeben; kommet und nehmet ein das Land, das Jehovah geschworen euren Vätern, dem Abraham, dem Isaak und dem Jakob, ihnen und ihrem Samen nach ihnen zu geben.
Behold, I have given up the land before you: go in and take possession of the land which the Lord hath sworn unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it unto them and to their seed after them.
9 Und ich sagte zu jener Zeit zu euch und sprach: Ich allein vermag euch nicht zu tragen.
And I said unto you at that time, as followeth, I am not able alone to bear you:
10 Jehovah, euer Gott, hat euch gemehret, und siehe, ihr seid diesen Tag wie die Sterne am Himmel an Menge.
The Lord your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
11 Jehovah, der Gott eurer Väter, möge dazutun zu euch noch tausendmal mehr, als ihr seid, und segne euch, wie Er zu euch geredet hat!
May the Lord the God of your fathers make you a thousand times as many more as ye are; and bless you, as he hath spoken unto you.
12 Aber wie kann ich eure Bürde und eure Last und euren Hader allein tragen.
How can I by myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife!
13 Gebt für euch weise und einsichtsvolle und euren Stämmen bekannte Männer, auf daß ich sie euch zu Häuptern setze.
Furnish for yourselves wise and understanding men, and those known among your tribes, and I will place them as chiefs over you.
14 Und ihr antwortetet mir und spracht: Das Wort ist gut, das du geredet; man tue es.
And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good to do.
15 Und ich nahm die Häupter eurer Stämme, weise und bekannte Männer, und gab sie zu Häuptern über euch; zu Obersten von Tausenden und zu Obersten von Hunderten und zu Obersten von Fünfzig und zu Obersten von Zehn und zu Vorstehern für eure Stämme;
And I took the chiefs of your tribes, wise and known men, and I set them as heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and as officers for your tribes.
16 Und gebot euren Richtern zur selbigen Zeit und sprach: Höret zwischen euren Brüdern und richtet gerecht zwischen dem Mann und zwischen seinem Bruder und zwischen dem Fremdling.
And I commanded your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously, between a man and his brother, and between his stranger.
17 Ihr sollt nicht die Angesichter ansehen im Gericht. Den Kleinen wie den Großen sollt ihr hören; laßt euch nicht bangen vor dem Angesicht eines Mannes, denn das Richten ist Gottes. Ist euch eine Sache zu hart, so bringet sie vor mich dar, daß ich sie höre.
Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; the small as well as the great shall ye hear; ye shall not be afraid of any man; for the judgment belongeth to God: and the cause that is too hard for you shall ye bring unto me, and I will hear it.
18 Und ich gebot euch zur selben Zeit alle die Worte, die ihr tun sollt.
And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
19 Und wir brachen auf vom Choreb und zogen durch diese ganze so große und furchtbare Wüste, die ihr gesehen auf dem Weg zum Gebirge der Amoriter, wie Jehovah, unser Gott, uns geboten, und kamen bis Kadesch Barnea.
And we departed from Horeb, and we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye have seen, by the way of the mountain of the Emorites, as the Lord our God had commanded us; and we came as far as Kadesh-barnea'.
20 Und ich sprach zu euch: Ihr seid an das Gebirge des Amoriters gekommen, das Jehovah, unser Gott, uns gibt.
And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Emorites, which the Lord our God doth give unto us.
21 Siehe, Jehovah, dein Gott, hat das Land vor dich hingegeben. Ziehe hinauf und nimm es ein, wie Jehovah, deiner Väter Gott, zu dir geredet hat. Fürchte dich nicht und entsetze dich nicht!
Behold, the Lord thy God hath given up the land before thee: go up and take possession of it, as the Lord the God of thy fathers hath spoken unto thee; do not fear, and be not discouraged.
22 Und ihr nahtet allesamt zu mir und sprachet: Laß uns Männer vor uns hersenden, daß sie uns das Land ausforschen und uns Bescheid zurückbringen über den Weg, auf dem wir hinaufziehen, und die Städte, an die wir kommen sollten.
And ye all came near unto me and said, Let us send out men before us, that they may search out for us the land, and bring us word again concerning the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.
23 Und das Wort war gut in meinen Augen, und ich nahm aus euch zwölf Männer, einen Mann auf den Stamm.
And the thing was pleasing in my eyes; and I took of you twelve men, one man for every tribe:
24 Und sie wandten sich und gingen das Gebirge hinauf und kamen bis zum Bachtal Eschkol und kundschafteten es aus.
And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.
25 Und sie nahmen in ihre Hand von der Frucht des Landes und brachten sie herab zu uns und brachten uns Wort zurück und sprachen: Gut ist das Land, das Jehovah, unser Gott, uns geben will.
And they took in their hand some of the fruit of the land, and brought it down unto us; and they brought us word again, and said, The land which the Lord our God doth give us is good.
26 Aber ihr wolltet nicht hinaufziehen und waret widerspenstig dem Munde Jehovahs, eures Gottes.
But you would not go up, and ye rebelled against the order of the Lord your God;
27 Und ihr beschwertet euch in euren Zelten und sprachet: Aus Haß hat Jehovah uns aus Ägyptenland ausgeführt, um uns in die Hand der Amoriter zu geben, uns zu vernichten.
And ye murmured in your tents, and said, On account of the hatred of the Lord toward us, hath he brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Emorites, to destroy us.
28 Wo sollen wir hinaufziehen? Unsere Brüder haben unser Herz zerfließen gemacht, als sie sagten: Größer und höher denn wir ist dies Volk; ihre Städte sind groß und bis in den Himmel befestigt, und wir haben auch Enaks Söhne dort gesehen.
Whither shall we go up? our brethren have made faint our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; and moreover the sons of the 'Anakim have we seen there.
29 Und ich sprach zu euch: Laßt euch nicht grauen und fürchtet euch nicht vor ihnen.
And I said unto you, Have no dread, nor be ye afraid of them.
30 Jehovah, euer Gott, Der vor euch herzieht, Er wird für euch streiten, wie in allem, was Er mit euch tat in Ägypten vor euren Augen.
The Lord your God who goeth before you, he it is who will fight for you; all just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31 Und in der Wüste, wo du gesehen hast, wie Jehovah, dein Gott, dich trug, wie ein Mann trägt seinen Sohn, auf dem ganzen Weg, den ihr ginget, bis ihr an diesen Ort kamet.
And in the wilderness which thou hast seen, where the Lord thy God bore thee, as a man doth bear his son, on all the way that ye have gone, until ye came unto this place.
32 Und trotz diesem Worte glaubtet ihr nicht an Jehovah, euren Gott,
Yet in this thing do ye not believe in the Lord your God,
33 Der vor euch herzog auf dem Wege, um euch den Ort auszuspähen, wo ihr lagern solltet durch das Feuer bei Nacht, auf daß ihr sehet auf dem Weg, auf dem ihr gehen solltet, und in der Wolke am Tag.
Who goeth before you on the way to seek out for you a place for your encamping, in fire by night, to cause you to see on the way in which ye are to go, and in a cloud by day.
34 Und Jehovah hörte die Stimme eurer Worte und war entrüstet, und schwor und sprach:
And the Lord heard the voice of your words; and he was wroth, and swore, saying,
35 Es soll kein Mann dieser Männer, von diesem bösen Geschlecht das gute Land sehen, das Ich euren Vätern zu geben geschworen hatte;
Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I have sworn to give unto your fathers;
36 Außer Kaleb, Jephunnehs Sohn. Er soll es sehen, und ihm will Ich das Land geben, das er betreten hatte, und seinen Söhnen, dafür, daß er vollständig Jehovah nachgefolgt.
Save Caleb the son of Yephunneh, he shall see it, and to him will I give the land upon which he hath trodden, and to his children; because he hath wholly followed the Lord.
37 Auch über mich zürnte Jehovah euretwegen und sprach: Auch du sollst nicht dahin kommen.
also with me was the Lord angry for your sakes, saying, also thou shalt not go in thither.
38 Jehoschua, der Sohn Nuns, der vor dir steht, er soll dahin kommen; ihn stärke; denn er soll es Israel zum Erbe verteilen.
Joshua the son of Nun, who standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: him encourage; for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
39 Und eure Kindlein, von denen ihr sagtet: Sie werden zum Raube werden; und eure Söhne, die diesen Tag nicht wissen, was gut oder böse ist; sie sollen dahin kommen, und ihnen will Ich es geben, und sie sollen es erblich besitzen.
And your little ones, of whom ye said, They will become a prey, and your children who know not this day either good or evil, these shall go in thither; and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
40 Ihr aber, wendet euch ab und brechet auf nach der Wüste auf dem Weg dem Schilfmeere zu.
But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.
41 Und ihr antwortetet und sprachet zu mir: Wir haben gesündigt wider Jehovah, wir wollen hinaufziehen und streiten gemäß allem, das Jehovah, unser Gott, uns geboten hat. Und jeder Mann gürtete sich mit seinen Kriegswaffen und waret dafür, auf das Gebirge hinaufzuziehen.
And ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the Lord; we indeed will go up and we will fight, according to all that the Lord our God hath commanded us; and ye girded on every man his weapons of war, and ye insisted to go up into the mountain.
42 Und Jehovah sprach zu mir: Sprich zu ihnen: Ziehet nicht hinauf und streitet nicht, denn Ich bin nicht in eurer Mitte, auf daß ihr nicht geschlagen werdet vor euren Feinden.
And the Lord said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, and do not fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43 Und ich redete zu euch; ihr aber hörtet nicht, und waret widerspenstig gegen Jehovahs Mund, und waret vermessen und zoget hinauf auf das Gebirge.
And I spoke unto you; but ye would not hear; and ye rebelled against the order of the Lord, and you were presumptuous, and went up into the mountain.
44 Und der Amoriter, der auf diesem Gebirge wohnte, ging aus, euch entgegen; und sie setzten euch nach, wie die Bienen tun, und zerstießen euch von Seir bis Chormah.
And the Emorites, who dwelt in that mountain: came out against you, and they pursued you, as the bees do, and they overthrew you in Seir, as far as Chormah.
45 Und ihr kehrtet zurück und weintet vor Jehovah; Jehovah hörte aber nicht auf eure Stimme und gab euch kein Gehör.
And ye returned and wept before the Lord; but the Lord hearkened not to your voice, nor gave ear unto you.
46 Und ihr wohntet in Kadesch viele Tage, gemäß den Tagen eures Wohnens.
And ye tarried in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye tarried there.
