Amos 4

1 Hört dies Wort, ihr Kühe Baschans, ihr auf dem Berge Schomrons, die ihr bedrückt die Armen, zerschlagt die Dürftigen, die ihr sprecht zu ihren Herren: Bringt herein, daß wir trinken.

Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, Who [are] in the mountain of Samaria, Who are oppressing the poor, Who are bruising the needy, Who are saying to their lords: 'Bring in, and we do drink.'

2 Der Herr Jehovah hat es geschworen bei Seiner Heiligkeit: Siehe, es kommen Tage über euch, da man euch mit Angeln heraufholen wird und eure Nachkommen mit Haken zum fischen.

Sworn hath the Lord Jehovah by His holiness, That lo, days are coming upon you, And he hath taken you away with hooks, And your posterity with fish-hooks.

3 Durch die Durchbrüche geht ihr hinaus, jede vor sich hin, und werfet nieder den Palast, spricht Jehovah.

And [by] breaches ye go forth, A woman [at that] over-against her, And ye have cast down the high place, An affirmation of Jehovah.

4 Kommt nach Bethel und übertretet, nach Gilgal, mehret die Übertretung. Bringt herein am Morgen eure Schlachtopfer und an den dritten Tagen eure Zehnten.

Enter ye Beth-El, and transgress, At Gilgal multiply transgression, And bring in every morning your sacrifices, Every third year your tithes.

5 Und räuchert von Gesäuertem zum Dankopfer, und ruft freiwillige Opfer aus, lasset es hören, denn so liebt ihr es, Söhne Israels, spricht der Herr Jehovah.

And perfume with leaven a thank-offering, And proclaim willing gifts, sound ye! For so ye have loved, O sons of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

6 Und auch Ich gebe euch müßige Zähne in all euren Städten, und Mangel an Brot euch in allen euren Orten; aber ihr seid nicht zurückgekehrt zu Mir, spricht Jehovah.

And I also — I have given to you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, And lack of bread in all your places, And ye have not turned back unto Me, an affirmation of Jehovah.

7 Und Ich habe euch auch vorenthalten den Regen, da noch drei Monate zur Ernte waren; und ließ regnen über eine Stadt, und nicht regnen über eine andere Stadt; der eine Teil ward beregnet und der Teil, der nicht beregnet ward, verdorrte.

And I also — I have withheld from you the rain. While yet three months to harvest, And I have sent rain on one city, And on another city I do not send rain, One portion is rained on, And the portion on which it raineth not withereth.

8 Und zwei, drei Städte wanderten nach einer Stadt, Wasser zu trinken, und wurden nicht satt, aber ihr kehrtet nicht zurück zu Mir, spricht Jehovah.

And wandered have two or three cities, Unto the same city to drink water, And they are not satisfied, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

9 Ich schlug euch mit Kornbrand und Vergilbung; die meisten eurer Gärten und eurer Weinberge, und eurer Feigenbäume und eurer Ölbäume fraß die Raupe; aber ihr kehrtet nicht zu Mir zurück, spricht Jehovah.

I have smitten you with blasting and with mildew, The abundance of your gardens and of your vineyards, And of your figs, and of your olives, Eat doth the palmer-worm, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

10 Ich sandte die Pest unter euch in der Weise Ägyptens, erwürgte eure Jünglinge durch das Schwert, mit Gefangenschaft eurer Rosse, und ließ den Gestank eurer Heerlager in eure Nase aufsteigen; aber ihr kehrtet nicht zurück zu Mir, spricht Jehovah.

I have sent among you pestilence by the way of Egypt, I have slain by sword your choice ones, With your captive horses, And I cause the stink of your camps to come up — even into your nostrils, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

11 Ich machte eine Umkehrung unter euch, wie Gott Sodom und Gomorrah umkehrte; und ihr wart wie ein Brand aus der Feuersbrunst gerissen, und ihr kehrtet nicht zurück zu Mir, spricht Jehovah.

I have overturned among you, Like the overturn by God of Sodom and Gomorrah, And ye are as a brand delivered from a burning, And ye have not turned back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

12 Darum werde Ich solches an dir tun, Israel: Weil Ich solches an dir tun werde, bereite dich, Israel, deinem Gott zu begegnen.

Therefore, thus I do to thee, O Israel, at last, Because this I do to thee, Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

13 Und siehe, Er, Der die Berge bildet und schafft den Geist und sagt dem Menschen an, was sein Sinnen ist: Er, Der macht das Morgenrot, Dunkelheit, und auf der Erde Höhen tritt, ist Jehovah, der Heerscharen Gott ist Sein Name.

For, lo, the former of mountains, and creator of wind, And the declarer to man what [is] His thought, He is making dawn obscurity, And is treading on high places of earth, Jehovah, God of Hosts, [is] His name!
