2 Samuel 4
1 Und der Sohn Sauls hörte, daß Abner in Chebron gestorben wäre, und seine Hände wurden schlaff, und ganz Israel ward bestürzt.
And the son of Saul heareth that Abner [is] dead in Hebron, and his hands are feeble, and all Israel have been troubled.
2 Und zwei Männer waren Oberste von Kriegshaufen bei Sauls Sohn; der Name des einen Baanah, und der Name des zweiten Rechab, Söhne Rimmons, des Beerothiters, von den Söhnen Benjamins; denn auch Beeroth ward zu Benjamin gerechnet.
And two men, heads of troops, have been [to] the son of Saul, the name of the one [is] Baanah, and the name of the second Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin, for also Beeroth is reckoned to Benjamin,
3 Und die Beerothiter waren entwichen nach Gitthajim und hielten sich dort als Fremdlinge auf bis auf diesen Tag.
and the Beerothites flee to Gittaim, and are there sojourners unto this day.
4 Und Jonathan, Sauls Sohn, hatte einen Sohn, der war lahm an beiden Füßen; fünf Jahre alt war er, als das Gerücht über Saul und Jonathan von Jisreel kam. Und seine Wärterin hob ihn auf und floh, und es geschah, daß er in der Hast ihrer Flucht fiel und lahm wurde, und sein Name war Mephiboscheth.
And to Jonathan son of Saul [is] a son — lame; he was a son of five years at the coming in of the rumour of [the death of] Saul and Jonathan, out of Jezreel, and his nurse lifteth him up, and fleeth, and it cometh to pass in her hasting to flee, that he falleth, and becometh lame, and his name [is] Mephibosheth.
5 Und es gingen die Söhne Rimmons, des Beerothiters, Rechab und Baanah, und kamen in der Hitze des Tages zum Hause des Isch-Boscheth, und er lag auf seinem Lager am Mittag.
And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, go, and come in at the heat of the day unto the house of Ish-Bosheth, and he is lying down — the lying down of noon;
6 Und siehe, sie waren bis in die Mitte des Hauses gekommen, Weizen zu holen, und sie stachen ihn in die fünfte Rippe, und Rechab und Baanah, sein Bruder, entrannen.
and thither they have come, unto the midst of the house, taking wheat, and they smite him unto the fifth [rib], and Rechab and Baanah his brother have escaped;
7 Denn als sie in das Haus kamen, lag er auf seinem Bette in seiner Schlafkammer, und sie schlugen ihn und töteten ihn, und schnitten den Kopf ab und nahmen seinen Kopf und gingen die ganze Nacht hin den Weg der Arabah.
yea, they come in to the house, and he is lying on his bed, in the inner part of his bed-chamber, and they smite him, and put him to death, and turn aside his head, and they take his head, and go the way of the plain all the night,
8 Und sie brachten den Kopf des Isch-Boscheth zu David nach Chebron und sprachen zum König: Siehe da den Kopf von Isch-Boscheth, dem Sohne Sauls, deines Feindes, der dir nach der Seele trachtete, aber Jehovah hat an diesem Tage meinem Herrn, dem König, Rache an Saul und seinem Samen gegeben.
and bring in the head of Ish-Bosheth unto David in Hebron, and say unto the king, 'Lo, the head of Ish-Bosheth, son of Saul, thine enemy, who sought thy life; and Jehovah doth give to my lord the king vengeance this day, of Saul and of his seed.'
9 Und David antwortete dem Rechab und seinem Bruder Baanah, den Söhnen des Beerothiters Rimmon, und sprach zu ihnen: Beim Leben Jehovahs, Der meine Seele aus aller Drangsal eingelöst hat,
And David answereth Rechab and Baanah his brother, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and saith to them, 'Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10 Fürwahr, den, der mir ansagte und sprach: Siehe, Saul ist tot, und der in seinen Augen wie ein guter Bote war war, den ergriff ich und erwürgte ihn in Ziklag anstatt ihm etwas für seine Kunde zu geben.
when one is declaring to me, saying, Lo, Saul is dead, and he was as a bearer of tidings in his own eyes, then I take hold on him, and slay him in Ziklag, instead of my giving to him [for] the tidings.
11 Wieviel mehr, da ungerechte Männer einen gerechten Mann in seinem Hause auf seinem Lager erwürgt! Wie sollte ich nun nicht sein Blut fordern von eurer Hand und euch von der Erde wegschaffen?
Also — when wicked men have slain the righteous man in his own house, on his bed; and now, do not I require his blood of your hand, and have taken you away from the earth?'
12 Und David gebot den Jungen und sie erwürgten sie; und sie schnitten ihnen Hände und Füße ab und hingen sie auf am Teiche von Chebron; den Kopf des Isch-Boscheth aber nahmen sie und begruben ihn in Abners Grabe in Chebron.
And David commandeth the young men, and they slay them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hang [them] over the pool in Hebron, and the head of Ish-Bosheth they have taken, and bury [it] in the burying-place of Abner in Hebron.
