1 Samuel 15
1 Und Samuel sprach zu Saul: Jehovah hat mich gesandt, dich zu salben zum König über Sein Volk, über Israel, und nun höre auf die Stimme der Worte Jehovahs.
And Samuel said unto Saul: 'The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over His people, over Israel; now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
2 So spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen: Ich will heimsuchen, was Amalek wider Israel getan, wie es ihm den Weg verlegte, da es aus Ägypten heraufzog.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts: I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he set himself against him in the way, when he came up out of Egypt.
3 Ziehe nun hin und schlage Amalek und verbanne ihn mit allem, was er hat, und bemitleide ihn nicht, sondern töte vom Manne bis zum Weibe, vom Kindlein und bis zum Säugling, vom Ochsen und bis zum Kleinvieh, vom Kamel und bis zum Esel.
Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.'
4 Und Saul ließ das Volk dies hören, und musterte sie in Telaim zweihunderttausend zu Fuß und zehntausend Mann aus Judah.
And Saul summoned the people, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
5 Und Saul kam zur Stadt Amaleks und machte einen Hinterhalt im Bachtale.
And Saul came to the city of Amalek, and lay in wait in the valley.
6 Und Saul sprach zu dem Keniter: Gehet hin und wendet euch und ziehet herab aus Amaleks Mitte, daß ich euch nicht mit ihm wegraffe; denn du hast Gutes getan an allen Söhnen Israels, da sie von Ägypten heraufzogen. Und der Keniter wandte sich ab aus Amaleks Mitte.
And Saul said unto the Kenites: 'Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them; for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt.' So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
7 Und Saul schlug Amalek von Chavilah, wo man kommt nach Schur, das vor Ägypten ist.
And Saul smote the Amalekites, from Havilah as thou goest to Shur, that is in front of Egypt.
8 Und er erfaßte Agag, den König von Amalek, lebendig; alles Volk aber verbannte er mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.
And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
9 Saul und das Volk aber verschonte Agag, und das Gute vom Kleinvieh und vom Rind, und die kleineren, sowie die Lämmer und alles, was gut war, und waren nicht willens, es zu verbannen; alles Werk aber, das verächtlich und schwächlich war, das verbannten sie.
But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, even the young of the second birth, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them; but every thing that was of no account and feeble, that they destroyed utterly.
10 Und es geschah das Wort Jehovahs an Samuel, und Er sprach:
Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying:
11 Es reut Mich, daß Ich Saul zum König eingesetzt habe, denn er ist hinter Mir zurückgegangen und hat Meine Worte nicht ausgerichtet. Und Samuel entbrannte, und er schrie zu Jehovah die ganze Nacht.
'It repenteth Me that I have set up Saul to be king; for he is turned back from following Me, and hath not performed My commandments.' And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.
12 Und früh stand Samuel auf, dem Saul am Morgen entgegenzugehen; und man sagte es Samuel an und sprach: Saul ist nach Karmel gekommen, und siehe, er stellte sich ein Denkmal auf, und wandte sich herum und zog hin und ging nach Gilgal hinab.
And Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning; and it was told Samuel, saying: 'Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he is setting him up a monument, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.'
13 Und Samuel kam zu Saul, und Saul sprach zu ihm: Gesegnet seist du dem Jehovah! Ich habe Jehovahs Wort ausgerichtet.
And Samuel came to Saul; and Saul said unto him: 'Blessed be thou of the LORD; I have performed the commandment of the LORD.'
14 Und Samuel sprach: Und was ist dieses Geblök von Kleinvieh in meinen Ohren, und das Geblök von Rindern, das ich höre?
And Samuel said: 'What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?'
15 Und Saul sprach: Sie brachten sie vom Amalekiter, weil das Volk das Beste vom Kleinvieh und Rind verschont hat, zum Opfer für Jehovah, deinen Gott. Das übrige aber haben wir verbannt.
And Saul said: 'They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.'
16 Und Samuel sprach zu Saul: Laß ab, daß ich dir ansage, was Jehovah heute Nacht zu mir geredet hat. Und er sagte zu ihm: Rede.
Then Samuel said unto Saul: 'Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night.' And he said unto him: 'Say on.'
17 Und Samuel sprach: Ist es nicht also, obgleich du klein warst in deinen eigenen Augen, wurdest du das Haupt der Stämme Israels, und Jehovah hat dich zum König über Israel gesalbt.
And Samuel said: 'Though thou be little in thine own sight, art thou not head of the tribes of Israel? And the LORD anointed thee king over Israel;
18 Und Jehovah hat dich auf den Weg gesandt und gesprochen: Gehe und verbanne die Sünder, den Amalek, und streite wider ihn, bis sie sie weggetilgt haben.
and the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said: Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
19 Und warum hast du nicht auf die Stimme Jehovahs gehört, und bist über die Beute hergefallen, und hast getan, was böse in Jehovahs Augen ist?
Wherefore then didst thou not hearken to the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst that which was evil in the sight of the LORD?'
20 Und Saul sprach zu Samuel: Ich habe auf die Stimme Jehovahs gehört und bin des Weges gezogen, den Jehovah mich sendete, und habe Agag, den König von Amalek, gebracht und Amalek verbannt.
And Saul said unto Samuel: 'Yea, I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
21 Das Volk aber nahm von der Beute Kleinvieh und Rind, die Erstlinge des Verbannten, um es Jehovah, deinem Gotte, in Gilgal zu opfern.
But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the devoted things, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.'
22 Samuel aber sprach: Hat Jehovah Lust an Brandopfern und Schlachtopfern, wie daran, daß man auf die Stimme Jehovahs hört? Siehe, gehorchen ist besser als Schlachtopfer, aufmerken besser als das Fett von Widdern.
And Samuel said: 'Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices, as in hearkening to the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 Denn die Sünde der Wahrsagerei ist Widerspenstigkeit, und die Missetat und Götzendienst ist Eigensinn; darum, daß du das Wort Jehovahs verschmäht hast, hat Er auch dich verschmäht, daß du nicht sollst König sein.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, He hath also rejected thee from being king.'
24 Und Saul sprach zu Samuel: Ich habe gesündigt, daß ich Jehovahs Befehl und deine Worte übertrat; denn ich fürchtete das Volk und hörte auf ihre Stimme.
And Saul said unto Samuel: 'I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words; because I feared the people, and hearkened to their voice.
25 Und nun verzeih doch meine Sünde und kehre mit mir zurück, daß ich Jehovah anbete.
Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD.'
26 Samuel aber sprach zu Saul: Ich kehre nicht mit dir zurück; denn du hast das Wort Jehovahs verschmäht, und Jehovah hat dich verschmäht, daß du nicht König seiest über Israel.
And Samuel said unto Saul: 'I will not return with thee; for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.'
27 Und Samuel wandte sich herum, um zu gehen, und er faßte ihn am Zipfel seines Oberkleides und es zerriß.
And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his robe, and it rent.
28 Und Samuel sprach zu ihm: Jehovah hat heute das Königtum Israels von dir gerissen und es deinem Genossen gegeben, der besser ist als du.
And Samuel said unto him: 'The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.
29 Auch lügt der Sieger Israels nicht, noch reut Ihn; denn Er ist nicht ein Mensch, daß Ihn reuete.
And also the Glory of Israel will not lie nor repent; for He is not a man, that He should repent.'
30 Und er sprach: Ich habe gesündigt; jetzt ehre mich doch vor den Ältesten meines Volkes und vor Israel und kehre mit mir zurück, auf daß ich anbete Jehovah, deinen Gott.
Then he said: 'I have sinned; yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.'
31 Und Samuel kehrte zurück, dem Saul nach, und Saul betete Jehovah an.
So Samuel returned after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.
32 Und Samuel sprach: Bringt herbei zu mir Agag, den König Amaleks; und Agag ging lustig zu ihm; und Agag sprach: Fürwahr, das Bittere des Todes ist gewichen.
Then said Samuel: 'Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites.' And Agag came unto him in chains. And Agag said: 'Surely the bitterness of death is at hand.'
33 Und Samuel sprach: Wie dein Schwert die Weiber ihrer Kinder beraubt, so soll deine Mutter vor den Weibern ihrer Kinder beraubt sein. Und Samuel hieb dem Agag in Stücke vor Jehovah in Gilgal.
And Samuel said: As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.
34 Und Samuel ging hin nach Ramah, Saul aber zog hinauf nach seinem Haus zu Gibeah-Schaul.
Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeath-shaul.
35 Und Samuel sah Saul nicht mehr bis zum Tage seines Todes. Denn Samuel trauerte um Saul, daß es Jehovah reuete, daß Er Saul zum König über Israel gemacht.
And Samuel never beheld Saul again until the day of his death; for Samuel mourned for Saul; and the LORD repented that He had made Saul king over Israel.
