1 Und Ben-Hadad, König von Aram zog zusammen all seine Streitmacht, und zweiunddreißig Könige waren mit ihm, und Pferde und Streitwagen; und er zog hinauf, und belagerte Samaria und stritt wider dasselbe;
Then Ben-hadad the King of Aram assembled all his armie, and two and thirtie Kings with him, with horses, and charets, and went vp and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.
2 Und sandte Boten an Achab, König von Israel, nach der Stadt,
And he sent messengers to Ahab King of Israel, into the citie,
3 Und ließ ihm sagen: So spricht Ben-Hadad: Dein Silber und dein Gold ist mein, und deine Weiber und deine Söhne, die guten, sie sind mein.
And sayd vnto him, Thus sayth Ben-hadad, Thy siluer and thy golde is mine: also thy women, and thy fayre children are mine.
4 Und es antwortete der König von Israel und sprach: Nach deinem Worte, mein Herr König; dein bin ich und alles, was mein ist.
And the King of Israel answered, and sayd, My lord King, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I haue.
5 Und es kamen die Boten zurück und sagten: Also spricht Ben-Hadad und sagt: Habe ich an dich gesandt und sagen lassen, du sollst dein Silber und dein Gold, deine Weiber und deine Söhne mir geben?
And when the messengers came againe, they said, Thus commandeth Ben-hadad, and saith, When I shall send vnto thee, and command, thou shalt deliuer me thy siluer and thy golde, and thy women, and thy children,
6 Fürwahr, um diese Zeit morgen werde ich meine Knechte zu dir senden, daß sei dein Haus und deiner Knechte Häuser durchsuchen, und all deiner Augen Begehr sollen sie in ihre Hand legen und nehmen.
Or els I will sende my seruants vnto thee by to morow this time: and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy seruants: and whatsoeuer is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall take it in their handes, and bring it away.
7 Und der König von Israel rief alle Ältesten des Landes und sprach: Wisset doch und sehet, daß er nach Bösem trachtet, denn er sandte an mich wegen meiner Weiber und meiner Söhne und meines Silbers und meines Goldes; und ich wollte sie ihm nicht vorenthalten.
Then the King of Israel sent for all the Elders of the land, and sayd, Take heede, I pray you, and see how he seeketh mischiefe: for he sent vnto me for my wiues, and for my children, and for my siluer, and for my golde, and I denyed him not.
8 Und es sprachen zu ihm alle Ältesten und alles Volk: Höre nicht auf ihn und sei nicht willens.
And all the Elders, and all the people sayd to him, Hearken not vnto him, nor consent.
9 Und er sprach zu den Boten Ben-Hadads: Saget meinem Herrn, dem Könige: Alles, wofür du an deinen Knecht zuerst gesandt hast, will ich tun, aber dies vermag ich nicht zu tun; und die Boten gingen hin und brachten das Wort zurück.
Wherefore hee sayde vnto the messengers of Ben-hadad, Tell my lorde the King, All that thou didddest sende for to thy seruant at the first time, that I will doe, but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him an answere.
10 Und Ben-Hadad sandte zu ihm und ließ ihm sagen: So sollen mir die Götter tun und so fortfahren, wenn der Staub Samarias ausreichen soll für die hohle Hand alles Volkes, das mir zu Fuße folgt.
And Ben-hadad sent vnto him, and sayde, The gods do so to me and more also, if the dust of Samaria be ynough to all the people that follow me, for euery man an handfull.
11 Und der König von Israel antwortete und sprach: Redet zu ihm: Es rühme sich nicht, der sich gürtet, wie der, so sich abgürtet!
And the King of Israel answered, and sayd, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth his harneis, boast himselfe, as he that putteth it off.
12 Und es geschah, als er dieses Wort hörte, da trank er und die Könige in den Hütten, und er sprach zu seinen Knechten: Stellet euch auf, und sie stellten sich auf wider die Stadt.
And when he heard that tidings, as he was with the Kings drinking in the pauilions, he sayd vnto his seruants, Bring forth your engines, and they set them against the citie.
13 Und siehe, da trat ein Prophet herzu zu Achab, dem König Israels, und sprach: So spricht Jehovah: Hast du all diese große Menge gesehen? Siehe, Ich gebe sie heute in deine Hand, auf daß du wissest, daß Ich Jehovah bin.
And beholde, there came a Prophet vnto Ahab King of Israel, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Hast thou seene all this great multitude? beholde, I will deliuer it into thine hande this day, that thou mayest knowe, that I am the Lord.
14 Und Achab sprach: Durch wen? Und Er sprach: So spricht Jehovah: Durch die Jungen der Obersten der Landschaften. Und er sprach: Wer soll den Streit anbinden? Und Er sprach: Du!
And Ahab sayd, By whome? And he sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, By the seruants of the princes of the prouinces. He sayde againe, Who shall order the battel? And he answered, Thou.
15 Und er musterte die Jungen der Obersten der Landschaften und es waren zweihundertzweiunddreißig. Und nach ihnen musterte er alles Volk, alle Söhne Israels, siebentausend.
Then he nombred the seruantes of the princes of the prouinces, and they were two hundreth, two and thirtie: and after them he nombred the whole people of all the children of Israel, euen seuen thousand.
16 Und sie zogen aus am Mittag, und Ben-Hadad trank trunken in den Hütten, er und die Könige, die zweiunddreißig Könige, die ihm beistanden.
And they went out at noone: but Ben-hadad did drinke till he was drunken in the tentes, both he and the Kings: for two and thirtie Kings helped him.
17 Und die Jungen der Obersten der Landschaften zogen zuerst aus, da sandte Ben-Hadad hin, und sie sagten ihm an und sprachen: Männer ziehen aus Samaria aus.
So the seruants of the princes of the prouinces went out first: and Ben-hadad sent out, and they shewed him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.
18 Und er sprach: Ziehen sie im Frieden heraus, so fasset sie lebendig. Und sind sie zum Streit ausgezogen, so fasset sie lebendig.
And he sayde, Whether they be come out for peace, take them aliue: or whether they bee come out to fight, take them yet aliue.
19 Und diese zogen aus von der Stadt, die Jungen der Obersten der Landschaften, und die Streitmacht, die hinter ihnen war.
So they came out of the citie, to wit, the seruants of the princes of the prouinces, and the hoste which followed them.
20 Und sie schlugen, jeder Mann seinen Mann, und Aram floh, und Israel setzte ihnen nach, und Ben-Hadad, der König Arams, entrann zu Pferd, und die Reiter.
And they slew euery one his enemie: and the Aramites fled, and Israel pursued them: but Ben-hadad ye King of Aram escaped on an horse with his horsemen.
21 Und der König von Israel zog aus und schlug Pferd und Streitwagen, und schlug Aram in einer großen Schlacht.
And the King of Israel went out, and smote the horses and charets, and with a great slaughter slew he the Aramites.
22 Und der Prophet trat zum König von Israel herzu und sprach zu ihm: Gehe, stärke dich und wisse und siehe, was du tust. Denn bei der Rückkehr des Jahres zieht der König von Aram wider dich herauf.
(For there had come a Prophet to the King of Israel, and had sayd vnto him, Goe, be of good courage, and consider, and take heede what thou doest: for when the yeere is gone about, the King of Aram wil come vp against thee)
23 Und die Knechte des Königs von Aram sagten ihm: Götter der Berge sind ihre Götter, darum waren sie zu stark für uns. Vielleicht aber, wenn wir mit ihnen in der Ebene streiten, werden wir stärker sein als sie.
Then the seruants of the King of Aram said vnto him, Their gods are gods of the moutaines, and therefore they ouercame vs: but let vs fight against them in the playne, and doubtlesse we shall ouercome them.
24 Tue aber so: Nimm die Könige weg, jeden Mann von seinem Orte und setze Statthalter an ihrer Stelle;
And this doe, Take the Kings away, euery one out of his place, and place captaines for them.
25 Und berechne dir eine Streitmacht wie die Streitmacht, die von dir gefallen ist, Pferd um Pferd und Streitwagen um Streitwagen, auf daß wir wider sie streiten in der Ebene, ob wir da nicht stärker sind als sie. Und er hörte auf ihre Stimme und tat also.
And nomber thy selfe an armie, like the armie that thou hast lost, with such horses, and such charets, and we wil fight against them in the plaine, and doubtlesse we shall ouercome them: and he hearkened vnto their voyce, and did so.
26 Und es geschah bei der Rückkehr des Jahres, da musterte Ben-Hadad Aram und zog hinauf nach Aphek zum Streite wider Israel.
And after the yeere was gone about, Ben-hadad nombred the Aramites, and went vp to Aphek to fight against Israel.
27 Und die Söhne Israels ließen sich mustern und versorgten sich, und zogen ihnen entgegen. Und die Söhne Israels lagerten ihnen gegenüber, wie zwei Herdlein von Ziegen, und Aram füllte das Land.
And the children of Israel were nombred, and were all assembled and went against them, and the children of Israel pitched before them, like two litle flockes of kiddes: but the Aramites filled the countrey.
28 Und es trat ein Mann Gottes herzu und sprach zu dem König von Israel und sagte: So spricht Jehovah: Weil Aram sprach: Ein Gott der Berge ist Jehovah, und kein Gott der Talgründe, so habe Ich all diese große Menge in deine Hand gegeben, auf daß ihr wisset, daß Ich Jehovah bin.
And there came a man of God, and spake vnto the King of Israel, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because the Aramites haue sayd, The Lord is the God of the mountaines, and not God of the valleis, therefore will I deliuer all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
29 Und sieben Tage lagerten diese jenen stracks gegenüber; und es geschah am siebenten Tage, daß der Streit nahte, und die Söhne Israels schlugen von Aram hunderttausend Fußvolk an einem Tag.
And they pitched one ouer against the other seuen dayes, and in the seuenth day the battel was ioyned: and the children of Israel slew of the Aramites an hundreth thousand footemen in one day.
30 Und die Übriggebliebenen flohen nach Aphek in die Stadt. Und es fiel die Stadtmauer auf siebenundzwanzigtausend Mann, die übriggeblieben waren, und Ben-Hadad floh und kam in die Stadt von Kammer zu Kammer.
But the rest fled to Aphek into the citie: and there fel a wall vpon seuen and twentie thousand men that were left: and Ben-hadad fled into the citie, and came into a secret chamber.
31 Und seine Knechte sprachen zu ihm: Siehe doch, wir haben gehört, daß die Könige vom Hause Israel barmherzige Könige sind; so laß uns denn Säcke um unsere Lenden legen und Stricke um unsere Häupter und hinausgehen zum König von Israel; vielleicht läßt er deine Seele am Leben.
And his seruants sayd vnto him, Beholde nowe, we haue heard say that the Kings of the house of Israel are mercifull Kings: we pray thee, let vs put sacke cloth about our loynes, and ropes about our heads, and goe out to the King of Israel: it may be that he will saue thy life.
32 Und sie gürteten Säcke um ihre Lenden und Stricke um ihre Häupter, und kamen zum König von Israel und sprachen: Dein Knecht Ben-Hadad spricht: Laß meine Seele am Leben! Und er sprach: Lebt er noch? Er ist mein Bruder.
Then they gyrded sackecloth about their loynes, and put ropes about their heads, and came to the King of Israel, and sayd, Thy seruant Ben-hadad sayth, I pray thee, let me liue: and he sayd, Is he yet aliue? he is my brother.
33 Die Männer aber deuteten es, und eilten und faßten es auf, ob es von ihm sei, und sprachen: Dein Bruder ist Ben-Hadad? Und er sprach: Gehet hinein, holet ihn! Und Ben-Hadad kam zu ihm heraus, und er ließ ihn in den Streitwagen heraufsteigen.
Now the men tooke diliget heede, if they could catch any thing of him, and made haste, and sayd, Thy brother Ben-hadad. And he sayd, Go, bring him. So Ben-hadad came out vnto him, and he caused him to come vp vnto the chariot.
34 Und er sprach zu ihm: Die Städte, die mein Vater von deinem Vater genommen hat, will ich zurückgeben und lege dir Gassen in Damaskus an, wie mein Vater in Samaria getan. Und ich will dich auf diesen Bund entlassen. Und er schloß einen Bund mit ihm, und ließ ihn.
And Ben-hadad sayd vnto him, The cities, which my father tooke from thy father, I wil restore, and thou shalt make streetes for thee in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will let thee goe with this couenant. So he made a couenant with him, and let him goe.
35 Und ein Mann von den Söhnen der Propheten sprach zu seinem Genossen durch das Wort Jehovahs: Schlage mich doch! Der Mann aber weigerte sich, ihn zu schlagen.
Then a certaine man of the children of the Prophets sayd vnto his neighbour by the comandement of the Lord, Smite me, I pray thee. But the man refused to smite him.
36 Und er sprach zu ihm: Weil du nicht auf die Stimme Jehovahs gehört hast, siehe, so gehst du hin von mir und der Löwe wird dich schlagen. Und er ging von ihm weg, und der Löwe fand ihn und schlug ihn.
Then sayd he vnto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voyce of the Lord, beholde, as soone as thou art departed from me, a lyon shall slay thee. So when he was departed from him, a lyon found him and slew him.
37 Und er fand einen anderen Mann und sprach: Schlage mich doch! Und es schlug ihn der Mann, erschlug und verwundete ihn.
Then he founde another man, and sayde, Smite mee, I pray thee. And the man smote him, and in smiting wounded him.
38 Und der Prophet ging hin und stand dem König in den Weg. Und er hatte sich durch Asche über die Augen unkenntlich gemacht.
So the Prophet departed, and wayted for the King by the way, and disguised himselfe with ashes vpon his face.
39 Und es geschah, als der König vorübergehen wollte, da schrie er zum König und sprach: Dein Knecht geht aus mitten in den Streit und siehe, ein Mann lenkte ab und brachte einen Mann zu mir und sprach: Hüte den Mann da; wenn er vermißt wird, so soll deine Seele statt seiner Seele sein, oder du sollst ein Talent Silber darwägen.
And when the King came by, he cried vnto the King, and said, Thy seruant went into the middes of the battel: and beholde, there went away a man, whom another man brought vnto me, and sayd, Keepe this man: if he be lost, and want, thy life shall go for his life, or els thou shalt pay a talent of siluer.
40 Und es geschah, während dein Knecht hin und her zu tun hatte, siehe, da war er nicht mehr da. Und der König von Israel sprach zu ihm: So ist dein Gericht, du hast es selbst entschieden.
And as thy seruant had here and there to do, he was gone: And the King of Israel said vnto him, So shall thy iudgement be: thou hast giuen sentence.
41 Und er nahm eilig die Asche von seinen Augen weg, und der König Israels erkannte ihn, daß er einer von den Propheten war.
And hee hasted, and tooke the ashes away from his face: and the King of Israel knewe him that he was of the Prophets:
42 Und er sprach zu ihm: So spricht Jehovah: Weil du den von Mir verbannten Mann aus der Hand entlassen, so wird deine Seele statt seiner Seele und dein Volk statt seinem Volke sein.
And he said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Because thou hast let goe out of thine handes a man whom I appoynted to dye, thy life shall goe for his life, and thy people for his people.
43 Und der König von Israel ging nach Haus mißmutig und verdrossen, und er kam nach Samaria.
And the King of Israel went to his house heauie and in displeasure, and came to Samaria.
